BORDER MANCHESTER 09 Judge: Mr David Winsley BORDER JUDGE MANCHESTER 09 Border Terriers MPD (10,2a) 1 Bailey’s Grindelvald In Full Cry, grizzle youngster of the right size for age, very pleasing head, correct ear placement, easy to span, balanced outline & good type, good bone, one of the few here with lovely tight feet, in good coat, presented well, free active mover. BP; 2 Freer’s Felfree Ricardo Tubbs, b/t, nice youngster, has many attributes of 1. Just a little more up on the leg. Excels in length of neck, racy outline, in good coat & condition; 3 Mitchell’s Ragatam Joket at Paleside. PD (8,1) 1 Hunt’s Ethlencoral Pip, grizzle with pleasing head for age, nice racy outline & good shape overall, well made quarters which he can use, in good coat of correct texture & in good condition, moves out well; 2 Roderick’s Barterhound Twister, nice head & expression, a bigger dog all over but balanced, good neck, shoulders & level topline, moved well with good width behind, in full coat; 3 Regan’s Digmoor Tommy Hawk. JD (11,1) 1 Davis’ Hesslemere Hi Korate, b/t, well grown for age, really well made & balanced head with strong muzzle, pleasing shape & outline, straight front with good bone, good turn of stifle, moves out well, in very good coat & nicely conditioned, showing well; 2 Regan’s Digmoor Ace’s High, grizzle, masculine outlook, good head for age, pleasing neck & shoulders, racy body with well made quarters, moved well, shows well; 3 Sharp’s Radnorvalley Goshawk of Rhozzum. PGD (9,2) 1 Anscome’s Tufterslodge Walnut at Orangebox, liked this one’s typical head & expression, racy outline, straight front & good depth of body, good stifle & enough width behind, in good coat; 2 Longton’s Royday Ned, similar to 1, nice head, well made body, excellent turn of stifle, more workmanlike type, in tight close coat. Very active, this caused his movement to be somewhat erratic at times; 3 Freeman’s Bolt Tail Jebba. LD (15,3) 1 Girling’s Benattivo Rock Robin, grizzle of nice size, well proportioned head & masculine appeal, good neck, shoulders & quarters, well made body having depth, easy to span & balanced, in good coat & condition, knows how to move out well. Would just like him to have a little more confidence & I’m sure he will be heard of much more. RCC; 2 Evan’s Jenabeck Cie Coch at Nogard, grizzle who is his own worst enemy, needs to settle down to the job in hand & will do well. Very good head, masculine through & through, well made body, good bone & carries an excellent quality coat, very active mover. Could afford to lose a little weight; 3 Clark’s Gameway Charles Dickens. OD (8,2) 1 Guvercin’s Dandyhow Figaro at Glebeheath, lovely dog, has that personality to be a top winner, has the correct type of head with width & strength without any coarseness, very keen expression, nice size, well balanced outline, straight in front, good width behind, in excellent coat & great condition, moved well behind & showed extremely well to win the CC, understand he won his 3rd the previous week, a well deserved ch; 2 Dean’s Ch Stineval Acerola with Tyrian, have judged this one before as a youngster, I think he has improved since then, head & expression first class, nice straight front, well developed body, in good coat & condition, moves with plenty of drive, showed with extra personality; 3 Hollingsbee’s Ch Otterwood Amex. VD (1) 1 Lazell’s Foxyard Shropshire Blue, b/t who belies his 7 years, nice head, good rangy outline & well balanced, straight in front, good depth of body, in excellent coat & condition. Moving just a little narrow. Showing well for his owner. MPB (20,3) 1 Larner’s Hawcoat Sweet Fairy, grizzle who overall was a very nice prospect, liked her feminine head, good neck & shoulders, well made body, good quarters, nicely balanced outline, good front, nice amount of bone & decent feet, moved steadily; 2 Johnson & Pearson’s Rexlands Golden Plover by Karison, very pleasing head, liked her size, a little rangier than 1. Well made body, pleasing outline. Coat not quite at its best but will improve. Moved & showed well; 3 Jenkin’s Badgerbeck Porsche. PB (16,3) 1 Girling’s Benattivo Rosina, nice sized bitch, very pleasing head & expression, good neck & shoulders, well balanced outline, good depth of body, easily spannable with enough bone, well made quarters, moved with freedom & drive, in nice coat & condition; 2 Milton’s Tythrop Treen of Baillieswells, this young lady was being a madam. Really nice feminine head, lovely shape for a youngster, quite an active girl with plenty of personality, has all the essentials at this age to become a nice bitch, can move well when she decides to settle; 3 Maltby’s Stoneygin Dolly Mixture at Pherjan. JB (16,4) 1 Small’s Badgerbeck Tree Pipit at Tilmoray, b/t who has a nicely balanced head with true expression, up to size but spannable, good depth of body, pleasing tuck-up, nice front, good turn of stifle, pleasing outline, in excellent coat, nice condition, moved well; 2 Dean’s Yeomeadow Heather for Tyrian, b/t of nice size, liked her head, very feminine outlook, well balanced outline, good quarters, in very nice coat & condition, moves well, has a lively disposition; 3 McPherson’s Brumberhill Bequest. PGB (19,6) 1 B Tree Pipit at T; 2 Johnson’s Karison Kamellia, grizzle with a pretty head, nice short muzzle, good for size, racy outline, good depth of body & ribbing. A touch straight in stifle but has enough width behind & a good driving action. In very nice coat condition; 3 Newsome’s Kighill Cheeky Minky. LB (14,3) 1 Girling’s Benattivo Mulberry, lovely type of bitch, liked her head, nice width of skull & well filled foreface, keen expression, nice straight front, well balanced body & clean outline, well made strong hindquarters, correct tailset, moves & shows well. This breeder seems to know how to condition & present her dogs well; 2 Jenkin’s Badgerbeck Fantacy, not quite so pleasing in head. Clean outline, good depth of body, straight front & strong well made hindquarters, moved well, quality tight jacket; 3 Morgan’s Glebeheath Minnie The Motor at Blewcourt. OB (16,4) 1 Jenkin’s Ch Badgerbeck Purdi, grizzle girl of nice size, pleased me very much in head & expression, totally feminine throughout, thought she had the desired depth of body, ribs well placed & easy spannable, nice amount of bone, good feet, well made quarters, sound fluent mover, in first class condition & coat. CC & BOB; 2 Singh’s Ch Nanrich Lets Go to Vandamere, b/t who was very close up to 1, expertly presented in top condition, very expressive head, good neck & shoulders, balanced outline, nicely matured body, another who can move with plenty of drive. RCC; 3 Dickinson’s Stoneygin Ripon Ruby by Badgerholme. VB (6) 1 Freivokh’s Kelgram Kashmir at Artwork, nice headed girl who belies her age, well made throughout, balanced body & outline, in good coat & condition, moving & showing well; 2 Powrie’s Blue Winged Olive, quite pleasing in head & expression, nice outline. Just carrying a little too much weight. In nice coat & an active mover; 3 Waller’s Quatford Deep Run. Breeders Girling’s four well balanced medium sized grizzles, all having very similar heads & expressions, they had the same well balanced body shapes & outlines, all moving soundly, all having well presented coats of the same harsh texture, went well together as a group.
