BORDER JUDGE SOUTH WALES 09

Border Terriers

MPD (2)

1 Singh’s Comberdown Jailbreak to Vandamere, nice young dog, good head & bite, straight front, harsh coat, good pelt, moved true;

2 Woollacott’s Tufterslodge Harvest Mouse, failed in movement to 1. OK for type, shows a lot of promise.

PD (8,1a)

Very poor class, most were too big for age, unable to span most of them.

1 Hollingsbee’s Xapex Santiago at Otterwood, pleasing in head, good bite, good shoulders, straight front, could span this one. Needs a little more length in back. Good set on, moved well. BP;

2 Hodgson’s Solitary Mist, just able to span, OK in head, good length of neck, in harsh coat, moved true; 3 Baird’s Dowgri Diggory.

JD (5,2)

1 Lowry’s Ravenside Ballymoss, nice all round dog, good head & eye, good big teeth, well placed shoulder, straight front, tight feet, good pelt & coat, strong backend, moved with plenty of drive;

2 Golding’s Ashbrae Fellman at Beaconpike, good in head, well placed ears, nice length of body. Coat on the blow, failed in movement to 1;

3 Larner’s Hawcoat Blue Bertie.

GD (4)

1 Gilpin’s Otterbobs Riggindale, when he came in the ring looked on the heavy side but he was in full coat. When handled, nice type of dog, strong head, big teeth, good front, well placed shoulders, kept level topline on the move, moved freely;

2 Baird’s Dowgri Daredevil, good teeth, strong muscle. A little bold in eye. Moved well, in harsh coat;

3 X Santiago at O.

PGD (5,1)

1 Roderick’s Barterhound Twister, won this class with ease, good strong jaw, clean bite, straight front, easily spanned, kept level topline on the move, in good harsh coat;

2 Robbins’ Kyscafter Emrys, a little bold in eye. Well placed ears, size OK, easily spanned, moved true;

3 Spencer’s Caznray Double Trouble.

LD (11)

1 Fryer’s Irton Up Helly, my first thoughts a good honest Border, not flashy but workmanlike, big strong teeth, well placed ears, good shoulders, harsh weather resistant coat, easily spanned, good set on, moved true. CC;

2 Johnson & Williams’ Quarryway Dill, not quite the head of 1. Pleasing in shape, good bite, nice length of neck, clean shoulders, level topline, easily spanned, moved true;

3 Hunt’s Ethlencoral Pip of Ottaswell.

OD (8,1)

1 Singh’s Ch Vandamere’s Secret Agent, nice dog to handle, OK in head, strong muzzle, well placed ears, lovely straight front, good flat ribs carried well back, easily spanned, in good jacket & loose pelt, moved with drive. RCC;

2 Hollingsbee’s Ch Otterwood Amex, would liked a touch more length of back but nevertheless very typy, in good fettle, moved true;

3 Reeves’ Ch Baywillow Racing Blue.

MPB (7,2)

1 Robbins’ Kyscafter Kestrel, lovely bitch, just a baby but a lot of quality, nice head, good bite, flat ribs, tight feet, in good jacket, moved well for one so young;

2 Gilpin’s Otterbobs Truant, preferred head of 1 but same remarks apply to both. Shows a lot of promise & will do the breed good;

3 Parsons’ Kyscafter Kite.

PB (7,5)

1 Waldron’s Intack Blue Pearl, OK in head & bite, straight front, good reach of neck, easily spanned, moved true;

2 Crockett’s Melincoed Andante, on the big side for a puppy, hope she doesn’t grow any more. OK in front, good flat ribs, kept level topline on the move.

JB (16,3) 1 Roslin-Williams’ Mansergh Speckles, very good honest Border, not flashy, lovely bitch to go over, a pleasure to handle, lovely otter head, big teeth, nice reach of neck, well laid shoulders, in coat, good set on, moved true;

2 Thomas’ Benattivo Gem Stone for Daluce, nice bitch, good head, well placed ears, clean neck & shoulder, straight front, tight feet, nice flat ribs, in good coat, moved with drive;

3 Larner’s Hawcoat Sweet Fairy.

GB (11,1)

1 M Speckles;

2 Bate’s Springhaugh Time at Kgills, nice little bitch. Would have liked a bit more of her. Nice head, good bite, harsh coat, moved well;

3 Fryer’s Irton Polka.

PGB (10,2)

1 Stockley’s Rhozzum Keynote with Foxfactor, b/t, liked this bitch, good well shaped head, straight front, good feet & bone, in harsh coat, kept good topline on the move;

2 Small’s Badgerbeck Tree Pipit at Tilmoray, good honest Border, pleasing head, OK in shoulders, flat ribs carried well back, kept good topline when moving;

3 Morton Shaw’s Fehmarn Freeranger.

LB (7,2)

Very difficult class of different types.

1 Barber’s Alcumlow Spanish Steps, very narrow bitch, a little up on the leg. Easily spanned, in very good coat, moved true;

2 Maltby’s Stoneygin Dolly Mixture at Pherjan, b/t, my notes read ‘not with it here’. Nice head, good bite, straight front, good to handle. Would not cooperate with handler;

3 Fraser & Butler’s Wagtail Lass via Ycart.

OB (11,2)

1 Gregory’s Remony Barley Twist, very nice bitch to go over, today was hers. Lovely head, well laid shoulders, clean front, good flat ribs carried well back, correct amount of bone, in good coat, nice bend of stifle giving plenty of drive. CC & BOB;

2 Higham’s Comberdown Ciara, very close to 1, easily spanned, in good jacket, moved very well. RCC;

3 Pickering’s Ch Picer Bright Idea.
