CESKY JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 10

Cesky Terriers

It was an absolute joy for me to judge this entry, not only because it is the National, but in the time since I judged the Cesky Terrier Club’s limit show our breed has come on in leaps & bounds. A promising crop of puppies did their best to please & disgrace themselves, but I like to see puppies being puppies. We need to keep an eye on narrow mouths. The bites are fine, but the jaws are narrow & muzzles short too. The Standard requires a long head.

Most of the classes were hair splitting decisions. If this is the Standard of Ceskys that are competing for honours this year there could be some very close decisions made.

MPD

1 Atter’s Rossau Voodoo, kindly puppy, pleasing head, good length of neck, correct topline, well ribbed back, held a good topline on the move. Tail a little on the happy side;

2 Igglesden & Samson’s Pendevour Phelix, darkest of eyes in good skull, high set ears, moderate neck, good bone, moved out well, keeping outline;

3 Burrows’ Pendevour Pierrot.

PD

1 Tobijanski’s Janski Born To Be Wild, 9 months, quite full in head, good length though. Pleasing eye shape & colour, muscular neck on well laid shoulders, straight front, clean brisk action;

2 Fewings’ Komidion Mahler, more typy in head than 1. Lean muscular neck, a little steep in shoulder & can tighten at elbow to advantage. Well ribbed, correct rise over topline.

PGD

1 Airey’s Nordham Singing The Blues, silver/w, sporting a winter nose, clean unexaggerated head, good earset & carriage, lovely texture to coat, muscular loins of good length, plenty of drive on the move;

2 Gay’s Oneva Edvard Malsville, masculine head of quality, but a little steep in shoulders. Well ribbed, short loins. Falls away over the croup a little sharply which puts his hindquarters too far under him;

3 Hammond’s Oneva Elegant.

LD

1 Taylor’s Duffy Du Champ D’eole avec Polede, striking dog, clean long head, good eye shape & colour, neat ears well held, well laid shoulders, strong bone, good spring to ribs, firm well angled hindquarters, moved cleanly & true, close up for top honours. Has room to mature further;

2 N Singing The Blues;

3 Burrows’ Rossau Poet.

OD

What an excellent class to judge.

1 Withers’ Fr/Lux Ch Captain Crochet du Champ D’eole, I have to admit I have coveted this dog from the first time I saw him, he just screams Cesky, his head has correct length with slight arch to skull, good earset leading into lean elegant neck, well laid shoulders, firm well boned front, correct rise to arched muscular loins, well angled hind, parallel from behind, moved with plenty of vigour. Yes he is a fidget, but he is not an ornament. BD & BOB;

2 Brown’s Lastarean Dufek, not on form, a little wider in skull than 1. Muscular neck, good shoulders, well sprung ribs, good bone, correct rise in topline to firm muscular loins, firm backend. Moving a little close when viewed from behind. RBD;

3 Richardson’s Talyot Damocles.

MPB

1 Harris’ Pendevour Pollyanna, determined wee girl, moved to her own satisfaction. Typy in head, good earset, arched neck into good body shape for age, pleasing coat texture, should mature well.

PB

1 Fewings’ Komidion Madrigal, such a promising puppy, beautiful head, sufficient strength, but without a shade of coarseness, long lean neck into well laid shoulder, well boned, gentle rise to topline, shapely hindquarters, moved true with a showgirl air about her, another one on my wish list. BP;

2 Moffat’s Rossau Time Will Tell, pale silver, petite all through, but in proportion. Long lean outline, high tailset, moved out smartly;

3 Evans’ Pendevour Phlashdance.

JB

1 Rusby’s Rossau Zaarava at Placido, silver, dark flecking, quite a challenge to critique as I can see the Sealyham in her & the Scottie too. Muscular outline, a little straight in fore. Good rise to topline, full rounded rump, strong driving movement.

PGB

1 Harris’ Pendevour Pheel The Music, another of De-De’s pups from the info in the catalogue & very much the make of her dam, clean head, good earset, good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders, correct rise to topline, good spring to rib, strong hindquarters, moved out briskly enough, despite being a tad overweight. She has white markings on her toes;

2 Atter’s Ridley Pamatka, left her coat in the vacuum cleaner which means there was a really clear outline to view. Her head shape is excellent, well set ears of correct shape, muscular well laid shoulders, well held topline in stance & on the move, muscular loins, firm hindquarters, good tailset;

3 Richardson’s Dotndav Fantasy Talyot.

LB

1 Burrage’s Vandell Sweet Song of Sametova, utterly feminine, good earset, good reach of neck, firm straight bone in fore, well ribbed, strong muscular loins, well angled hindquarters, moved out well;

2 Thomson’s Lastarean Bavinka at Karensbrae, a tad smaller all through without lacking strength, a little bold in eye shape. Good forechest, held correct outline as she stormed round the ring;

3 Bowerman’s Woodstrode Eliska.

OB Just as I was thinking that OD couldn’t be topped for sheer quality in numbers, we came to OB.

1 Tobijanski’s Janski Celtic Ceska, sturdy bitch of quality, I can see why she has topped our breed on many occasions, she has personality to burn, long head, dark eyes, good earset, straight front, well ribbed, sufficient angulation in hindquarters to give her a brisk gait, moved as if she owned the ring. BB. In the run off for BOB I felt the dog had the edge for sheer type & elegance;

2 Atter’s Gloria Kvitko, have always used this bitch as my Standard template, she doesn’t disappoint when going over her, head strong without any trace of coarseness, lean neck on well laid shoulders, well ribbed, correct rise to topline, good bone, well angled hind. Just wasn’t moving out in the class, but really got a ‘hustle in her bustle’ when she was called back in for RBB, so it pleased me greatly to reward her change of attitude;

3 Clark’s Pendevour Pheeltherhythm.
