FOX SMOOTH RICHMOND 09 Judge: Mrs Kay Eldred (Australia) FOX SMOOTH JUDGE RICHMOND 09 Smooth Fox Terriers I had a feeling of disappointment about my entry as I had been expecting to find so much better quality. While my winner was up-on-leg, many of the other exhibits were, I felt, lacking length of leg. Overall the presentation of the coats was lacking. Many were scissored very bluntly & the jackets were not smoothly melded from one point to another. Length of heads overall was good, with correctly placed ears & the small round dark eyes were a pleasure. PD (3) 1 Griffiths & Jones’ Yoxella White Tie with Darlaur, smart puppy with good length of neck, head & muzzle, short coupled with correct structure & movement; 2 Goodley’s Tuskenraider Skywalker, puppy lacking length of neck. Ears set too wide for good carriage & lacking length of skull. Did not use hocks correctly contributing to lack of rear drive. JD (3) 1 Brookes’ Mischief In Disguise, dog of good balance & bone, well placed ears & correctly placed dark eyes, short coupled & moved correctly, head well balanced on a good length of neck; 2 Windle’s Jesuie Un Rock Star, would have liked more length of leg on this youngster. Excellent length of head of good proportions with small dark round eyes & well set ears, short coupling, moved correctly. PGD (3) 1 Bayley’s Finsham Double Agent, compact dog with short coupling, good length of head with dark well placed correct shaped eyes, ears well placed & well used, moved well; 2 Richardson’s Glendraterra Pied Piper, compact dog with good length of leg, good length of head & strong jaw. Sadly his set & finish of ears precluded him being placed any higher. LD (3,1a) 1 Horlock’s Ranlock Portman, well presented dog with good correct bone & short coupling, correct length of head with strong jaw, well placed ears, well placed dark eyes, moved well; 2 Chalker’s Cairo Dixi Moy, short coupled dog with good length of head & muzzle. Poorly set ears & lacking hindquarters to provide the necessary drive. OD (5) 1 CC & BOB, Falkous’ Shillelagh San-Diego of Falkmere, up on leg, but presenting the picture to look for, good bone & correct structure for this breed, excellent short coupling with good topline, strong, long head with good muzzle, dark, well placed eyes, correct earset, was up on his toes & moved with a swinging front leg & snatch behind, a very worthy winner; 2 RCC, Thornton, Bebbington & Corish’s Ch Glendraterra Sunset, smaller dog with a shorter leg. Excellent shoulders & topline, strong head & muzzle with good eye & ear, moved correctly. His length of leg did not give him the outline I was looking for. PB (4,2) 1 RCC, Horspool’s Rotus Celtic Desire of Adaires, well balanced youngster with good head, eye & ear, short coupled & sound with correct movement; 2 Saunders’ Galleyshine Secret Love, pleasing puppy with short coupling. Good length of head but muzzle a little lacking in width. JB (1) 1 Tindle’s Jesui Mystic, well balanced, short coupled, good eye & ear. Moved a little rocky behind. Good coat & pigment. PGB (2) 1 Clark’s Sidewater Tinkerbelle, compact & short coupled, carried a good correct shoulder with correct movement, correct ear placement & round eye. Muzzle could be stronger; 2 Horlock’s Ranlock Oakley, taller bitch & longer coupled. Rear could be sounder & muzzle narrow with not the strength I was looking for. LB (4) 1 CC, Thornton & Bebbington’s Glenraterra Danzatrice, compact, well balanced bitch with good neck into shoulders, well set ears & dark round well placed eyes, I liked the good strength of muzzle, moved well & correctly; 2 Jones’ Darlaur Deuce, good bone & substance on this exhibit, however head & expression were spoilt by a lighter eye & ears than looked for that were awry on the day. OB (5) 1 Vasseure & De Groote’s Int Ch B’Carmen De La Vetta, well balanced & compact with good bone, good skull & strong muzzle, well placed shoulder running into topline; 2 Broom’s Chipstead Monsoon with Roxway, compact, finer bone, lacked length of skull to balance head but muzzle had the strength required, stood over good ground.
