IRISH EAST OF ENGLAND 09 Judge(s) DR A NOONAN DCC AM CH ROYAL BRYSON RULER OF DERRY [ATC AH00809SWE] ( DR E HIGGINS) Irish Terriers PD (4,1a) 1 Hemmings’ Courtington Kassel, most attractive puppy, lively & alert with behaviour typical for age, excellent head & expression with well placed eyes & ears, good length of neck into good shoulders with a lovely front line, racy but not shelly. Not mature enough yet for top honours but when he is should be up with the best. Moved & presented well. BP; 2 Seabridge’s Sujoncla Pokanoket, sound dog with good head & excellent ear carriage, good strong neck into correct topline, well developed chest, good shoulders & quarters, moves with good drive. Overall more mature than 1 but toeing in at front which time may cure. Presented & showed very well; 3 Rundle’s Sidewater The Pretender. JD (1) 1 Stahle & Nichols’ Shallcome’s Murchadh, good quality coat somewhat hiding his attributes. Pleasing expression but apprehension at new surroundings gave unsettled ear carriage & spoilt movement by lowering hocks to ground. Still very young & needs time to settle. Tail well held as he gained in confidence so should improve rapidly. PGD (3) 1 Pratt’s Terrijay Special Brew, lovely coat & colour on a sound dog of correct size & balance, good neck, front, shoulders & topline, good head but would prefer eyes to be slightly less bold, excellent quarters giving good rear drive, well compensated by correct front, presented & showed well; 2 Hardman’s Bonosue The Mighty Quinn, attractive dog with racy outline, good neck, front & quarters, good head & eye placement but expression spoiled by wayward ears which are correctly placed on head & good size. Dog needs to pay more attention to complete picture. Movement rather wide at rear. Showed & presented in good order; 3 Stahle & Nichols’ Shallcome’s Murchadh. LD (4,1) 1 Seabridge’s Wounded Knee at Sujoncla, very smart dog with good head, well placed eyes & ears giving pleasing expression, good coat, good front, shoulders, topline & chestline, good tailset, excellent quarters giving good movement with plenty of rear drive, showed & presented well. RCC; 2 Hardman’s Bonosue The Mighty Quinn; 3 Nevill’s Lord Montague. OD (3) 1 Higgins’ Am Ch Royal Bryson Ruler Of Derry, very smart dog, on his toes the whole time with real terrier spirit, racy outline & well balanced throughout, good head with well placed eyes & ears & correct expression, good chestline into correct loin. Neck, frontline, shoulders & quarters good with an excellent tailset. Moved, presented & shown in top order. CC, BOB & G3; 2 Gruettner’s L/h Ch Kilcaven Oberon at Montelle, good head but ears not settled which spoiled expression. Sound front, shoulders, topline & quarters. Presented well but he was not in mood to show to best advantage. Movement good when he concentrated; 3 Hardman’s Eric The Red. PB (4) 1 Hemmings’ Courtington Karina, very similar in conformation to littermate in PD but appropriate size & configuration for a bitch. Nicely balanced with racy outline, good head with pleasing feminine expression. Not quite so confident as brother so lost BP to him. Moved, showed & presented well; 2 Nevill’s Courtington Elena at Rosemonelle, litter sister to 1 & another good pup with attractive head & racy outline, good front, topline & tailset, moves well, nicely presented but not so relaxed & settled as sister. Needs time to mature at own pace; 3 Lovelace’s Brazan Choral. JB (4,1) 1 Tritton’s Ailington Too Hot To Handle, attractive bitch, nice size with good bone, pleasing outline, correct head & expression, good neck, front & shoulders, good quarters, moved, shown & presented well; 2 Montelle Star Of The Ring, attractive outline, racy & good size. Front, topline & chestline to loin correct, quarters & muscletone good but movement was unsettled. Didn’t seem relaxed; 3 Hardman’s Bonosue Snowstorm. PGB (6,1) 1 Rundle & Goddard’s Allatsea Gift Of Gold at Marshcourt, smart bitch, very alert with keen expression, good length of head but all in proportion, good front, topline, chestline & loin, excellent quarters giving plenty of rear drive, nice size, well bodied & compact but would like a little more length of body. Movement good, liked her attitude, showed & presented to best advantage; 2 Ruffles’ Ruffmar Bronzed Ballerina, very attractive with nice outline & well balanced, very good jacket, excellent conformation throughout, moved & showed well but lost in animation to 1. Well presented; 3 Brown’s Sujoncla Ochinee. LB (8) 1 Blower’s Saredon Ruby Red at Turith, well balanced & feminine, good neck into strong topline, correct front & quarters, moved well but seemed totally indifferent to surroundings. Needs more motivation to sparkle & compete for top honours; 2 Tritton’s Ailington Burning Ember, another very attractive bitch & I had her winning this class until she lost her enthusiasm at the end. She is well balanced, of good size & with correct outline, good front, shoulders & well ribbed back into correct loin, correct quarters, moved well & showed well until the end; 3 Brown’s Sujoncla Ochinee. OB (8) A class of lovely bitches so I was spoiled for choice. Therefore I wanted to see Terrier sparkle maintained throughout, on top of their other attributes & I was not disappointed in this in my winners. 1 Barker & Cummings’ Saredon Easter Parade, very smart bitch with good coat & colour, lovely outline, very racy yet with good substance, good head with true Irish expression while still being feminine, front, topline, shoulders & quarters all correct, good depth of chest into correct loin, moves well, really projects her personality & shows herself, excellent presentation. CC; 2 Seabridge’s Sujoncla Tecumseh, different type to 1 but another attractive bitch who shows well with a good jacket, good head & expression, nicely placed ears which she uses well, good neck, topline & tailset, good front, shoulders & quarters, moves well with purpose, well presented. Never stopped showing. RCC; 3 Lovelace’s Ch Brazan Seghill. ALEX NOONAN |
