IRISH WELKS 09 Judge(s) MRS FERELITH SOMERFIELD DCC HORATIO VON DER EMSMUEHLE [ATC AK00202DEU] (K & H E GRUETTNER) Irish Terriers It was an unexpected pleasure to find myself in the ring judging such a pleasing group of Irish, but of course I was very sorry for the reason: that the scheduled judge, Judy Averis, was not yet fit from her foot operation. I join with everyone in sending best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. PD (4) 1 Hemmings’ Courtington Kassel, promising young dog, good coat & colour, very good head, eye & ears, pleasing neck, shoulders, topline, tailset & carriage. Moved & showed well here but got totally distracted when his sister came in to challenge him for BP so he lost out to her; 2 Seabridge’s Sujobcla Pokanoket, very showy & typical, used his ears beautifully, good eye, nice body, depth & rib for age, nice firm unexaggerated hindquarters; 3 Rundle’s Sidewater The Pretender. JD (1) 1 Pratt’s Terrijay Special Brew, well balanced, good eye & ears, very good bone, legs & feet, well muscled quarters, well bodied, moved soundly. PGD (3,1a) 1 Hardman’s Bonosue The Mighty Quinn, nice for size, in good broken coat, firm hindquarters. Could be better in tail carriage & ears. Nice neck. Moved soundly but needs more control; 2 Atwell’s Montelle Mr Sandman at Xanwil, rather on the leg & lacks a little character in the ring, felt he was not at his best. LD (3) 1 Seabridge’s Kerrykeel Wounded Knee at Sujoncla, well grown, pleasing head & ears, nice neck, shoulders, legs & feet, good topline & tailset, nice hindquarters, moved & showed well; 2 Nevill’s Montelle Lord Montague, good head, eye & ears. Not quite the front extension of 1 just spoiling his balance but has lots to like; 3 Hardman’s Bonosue Eric The Red. OD (4) 1 Gruettner’s Horatio von der Emsmuehle, exciting dog of quality, very good for size, balance & shape, excellent temperament, interested in everything & everybody but in complete control, good head & eyes, pleasing neck, shoulders, front, topline & tailset, in good coat, moved & showed well. CC, BOB, hear he was placed in the group; 2 Anderson’s Kerrykeel Ronan, very typical & a real male but big enough, pleasing head & expression, well made hindquarters. 1 scored in front. Firm topline, good over the loin & croup. RCC; 3 Lovelace’s Brazan Slippery Jack. PB (6,3) 1 Hemmings’ Courtington Karina, very promising baby, pleasing head, eye & ears, nice neck & shoulderline, good coat & condition, moved & showed well. BP; 2 Bentley-Mouat’s Newbuild Twist, nicely made & well balanced, moving well. Black needs to clear from her coat; 3 Batley & Stahle’s Summer Glory at Penmire. JB (6,1) 1 Ruffles’ Ruffmar Bronzed Ballerina, nicely balanced bitch of good size & shape, good head & ears, pleasing neck & shoulders, moved & showed well; 2 Brown’s Sujoncla Ochinee, I like her a lot but she needs more furnishings to complete the picture. Pleasing head, good legs & feet; 3 Rundle & Goddard’s Allatsea Gift Of Gold at Marshcourt. PGB (5,1) 1 Jackson’s Montelle Star Of The Ring, very showy & scored in expression, neat, well made & nicely balanced, good thighs; 2 Wooding’s Woodraith Golden Buttercup, liked her lines very much, good for size & generally well made. Could have a little more strength in second thigh but moved soundly; 3 Hardman’s Bonosue Snow Storm. LB (3,1) 1 Woodin’s Sujoncla White Horse & 2 Nevill’s Myscharrma Lady Roseinna, neither gave of her best as a showgirl but felt 1 had the edge on condition & coat, however 2 is nearly 9 & looked well for her age. 1 was in good coat & body condition, handles well. 2 is well bodied & has a charming temperament. OB (6) 1 Lovelace’s Ch Brazan Seghill, beautiful bitch, feminine & has quality, good head & eyes, pleasing neck, shoulders, topline & tailset, good hindquarters, in splendid coat & condition. CC; 2 Anderson’s Ch Kerrykeel Orlaith, good bitch, touch bigger & 1 had the edge in second thighs. Good head & expression, nice topline, very good body & rib, showed well; 3 Gruettner’s Irish Fellow Empire. FERELITH SOMERFIELD
