NORFOLK NAT DOG SHOW 09 Judge: Mrs Lesley Crawley Norfolk Terriers MPD (4) Good quality class of young males. 1 Jaeva Midas Touch at Saltarello, the eldest of the 4 pups with that touch more maturity both in body & coat, attractive head, excellent eye size, colour & expression, short compact body, moved OK, strong drive from behind, for perfection would like a tad more neck, showed very well. BP, PG2; 2 Smith’s Javidel Come What May, coat not as forward as 1, excellent head, eye & mouth, correct for bone & substance, not quite as short as 1 but moved & showed very well, attractive quality puppy; 3 Gee’s Strathinver Spellbinder. PD (1) 1 Saltmarsh’s Pipridges Hot Basil, strong rather rangy youngster at present, should shorten & deepen with maturity, liked his head, expression & mouth, excellent length of neck, good topline, not in the best of coats though the texture & quality was there, excellent hind action but a shad loose in front. JD (3,2a) 1 Phillips’ Jaeva Pocket Rocket, such a quality b/t, beautiful head, strength to both skull & muzzle, strong all through but within the correct sized frame, excellent bone & substance, lovely coat qualities, good outline standing & moving, not the easiest dog for his handler to cope with as obviously likes his own way, moved so well in the challenge, just lost out on maturity & finish to Top Dollar. RCC. PGD (5,1) 1 Gullick & Oliver’s Jaeva Kiss Me Hardy, superb all through for breed type, scoring in head, short back & legs, correct bone in a small frame, ran the Junior winner close in the challenge, lost out on front movement & mouth, in excellent coat & condition; 2 Fraser’s Brymarden Candidate, very attractive, in excellent coat, nice head, dark eye, could have a better bite, good outline standing, moved with excellent drive behind, very well handled to make the most of his virtues; 3 Dorkin’s Lowmita Sweet William. LD (5) 1 Stevenson’s Brickin I Told You So, rather raw & rangy at present but has a lot to offer for the future, lovely head, eye, expression & bite, well made body, good length of neck & level topline, took a while to settle & when he did moved well, doesn’t need to grow on only mature, a rather heavy coat tended to detract from his assets; 2 Atkinson’s Moortop Hot Roll, in excellent coat & condition, very attractive head & expression but not such a perfect bite as 1, lovely body shape & outline & much more mature than 1, moved a bit wide in front, excellent quarters & showed to perfection; 3 Lloyd’s Orison Bootlace. OD (5,1) 1 Jenkins’ Ch Kinsridge Top Dollar, first class mature dog, beautiful head, correct for strength of skull & muzzle, correct scissor bite, fabulous outline, good length of neck, level topline & tail on top, big enough for me but outmoved all the rest with fantastic profile movement, good reach in front & correct drive behind, powered him round the ring, although I would prefer the eye darker did not overly detract from a perfect performance, in the best of coats & condition, lost on size for BOB. CC; 2 Phillips’ Tom Tom at Jaeva, same fabulous breed type as I Told You So, great head, eye & expression, not the bite of 1, superb for shortness of back & legs, correct bone & substance in a size I must prefer, in tiptop coat & condition, has a very high stepping front action which showed particularly in profile, well made behind, felt his movement would have improved for a bit more freedom from the lead, immaculate showmanship & presentation; 3 Devereux’s Vichea Clever Cloggs. MPB (6,2) Lovely class of typically immature puppies, could change places on other occasions. 1 Gee’s Watercroft Mayfair Lady, quality b/t, lovely head & mouth, dark eye but would like them smaller, very showy & animated, correct bone & substance, lovely outline on the move, excellent behind, unusually for a Norfolk has grown all of a piece leaving nothing overdone or out of balance, coat of good texture just coming in; 2 Newton’s Strathinver Red Red Rose, pretty little bitch with so much to like but extremely immature. Nice head though rather small & lacking strength of muzzle at present, correct width of skull & good stop, small dark eye & good bite, nice outline with short back, level topline & tail correctly set, moved well in front but would like a bit more substance all through, performed well for handler, will be lovely type with maturity; 3 Jenkins’ Little Redhead at Kinsridge. PB (3,2) 1 Atkinson’s Moortop Shany Choice, attractive youngster who still needs to grow her front end to balance with a mature rear, lovely head, eye & ears, bite rather tight, good tailset & carriage, excellent quarters & moved OK, good quality one, showed very well. JB (6,2) Lovely class. 1 Jones & Phillips’ Jaeva Bag Of Tricks, this one really appealed to me, full of quality, lovely head, eye & mouth, well made body, good outline & length of neck, correct topline & tailset, well angulated quarters, still a touch unsure in the ring & slightly immature but with more finish & condition is one to watch. RCC; 2 Stevenson’s Brickin Skip Away, lovely type & a quality bitch, similar to 1 in some respects, was a trifle difficult on the table but stood & looked lovely on the floor, nice head with strength to skull & muzzle, short cobby body, not quite such clean shoulders as 1 but overall moved & showed well; 3 Horne’s Golden Breeze. PGB (6,1) 1 Bettesworth’s Kapitada Daisychain, such a quality bitch in excellent coat & condition, liked her outline & attitude, correct overall head proportions, enough strength without looking doggy, nice eye colour though eye a little full, for balance needs a shade more leg, very showy & moved well, excelled in bone & substance in the right sized frame; 2 Chambers’ Rouletta Pink Lady Lead, excels in movement, make & shape, lovely head with strength & correct muzzle to skull proportions, dark eye & beautiful mouth, great outline with everything in the right place, just needed more weight & condition to finish the package; 3 Smith’s Stridview Bluebell. LB (7,2) A good class of bitches. 1 Claydon’s Brymarden Copper Kettle, instantly attractive bitch, very happy true Norfolk showmanship & expression, nice head which for me could have a shade more strength all through, great eye, expression & mouth, lovely neck, clean shoulders, level topline resulting in correct outline & good front movement. Would like a bit more muscle & strength to the quarters. Animated showgirl in the best of condition; 2 Devereux’s Vichea Rambling Rose, though a better type in some ways has less instant impact, good head, eye & mouth, short backed sort who fits the Standard. Seemed a shade small & immature. Never stopped showing, will do even better with time, definitely a laster, in great coat; 3 Gee’s Watercroft Hot Gossip. OB (6,2) 1 Phillips’ Ch Vichea Pick And Mix, litter sister to Rambling Rose but looks older & more mature, one you have to go over to fully appreciate, such a classy bitch, liked her overall type, size & shape & in perfect coat & condition, did not settle to moving in this class but pulled out all the stops for CC, correct movement & had the darker eye & smaller more cobby size than the dog to achieve BOB; 2 Chambers’ Rouletta Smart Le Swayzie, such a nice all round bitch, correct construction & perfect movement, not quite the head of 1 & certainly not the condition or would have pushed Pick & Mix much harder, lovely size & body type, perfect mouth; 3 Phillips Love On The Run at Jaeva.
