BVIS: Pascoe’s Middlebury Dancing Queen
I thank the committee for the good organisation of this show, show secretary Steve Evans, to my excellent stewards Rob Watkins and John Allen and the always simply delicious catering provided by Pam Clarke. The ground was a little soggy outside and so the decision was taken to exhibit indoors. At the end of the summer show season many of the dogs are conditioned to showing outdoors and I did wonder if this change of scene affected some exhibits particularly when moving. Thank you to all the exhibitors who attended giving the show a friendly atmosphere and I hope you enjoyed your day.
PUPPY DOG: 1
1 Matti & Omitogun’s Frontline Mr Feelgood
Overall nicely balanced male nearly out of pup class. Coat showing good colour and wave developing. Reachy neck, good bite and pigment. Expressive ears and good eye colour. Liked his head. Body needs to develop which will come in time. Moved ok. Just lacking in positivity on the move to show his true qualities. BP
JUNIOR DOG: 1
1 Howes’ Daisymaes Desmond Decker
Square and compact boy. Coat rather dense but developing colour and wave. Good length of neck and shoulders, straight front. Bodying up nicely. Tight feet. Eye a little dark for my liking. Good pigment. Another nice head and ear set. Moved close behind but reachy front stride.
LIMIT DOG: 3
Difficulty in splitting these 3 exhibits as merits on all and decision was very close so all could change places on another day.
1 Pascoe’s Middlebury Shooting Star
Up to size. Nice coat with colour and wave. Good mouth and pigment. Enough neck. Square and compact. Well bodied and good for bone. Good hind angulation. Best hind drive on move in class.
2 Taylor’s Keridown for Art’s Sake
Correctly sized male Scissor bite. Adequate neck, good layback and front assembly. Good body and hind angulation. Straight and parallel coming and going but just not the reach and drive of 1.
3 Fletcher’s Keridown Shaken Not Stirred
Another nice male who did nothing wrong today. Beautiful coat with warm wheaten hue and wave with slight sheen. Best coat in class. Nice head and expression. Just lacking the body of 1 and 2. Movement as 2.
OPEN DOG: 3
Another class which was very hard to split as all had similar qualities to merit.
1 Johnson’s Swed Ch Seamrog Cactus Lime at Garsayno (Imp)
Just edged the win on front assembly, type and terrier expression. Ticks a lot of boxes. Love his head and ear set, nice length of neck into good layback. Good chest and tight elbows. Compact and square and good topline. Well bodied, strong loin and good bone. Straight, easy mover with good reach in front. Excellent coat. Just not as fluid on the move in the BIS challenge. BD, RBIS, BOS
2 Fallon’s Janeyjimjams Jenson JW ShCM
Another cracking dog who I have judged before and has developed into a very handsome boy who again ticks many boxes and many comments of 1 apply. Sound all round. Lovely wheaten expression and superb coat. Just preferred the front assembly of 1. Moved ok but not as positive as 1 today. RBD
3 Shanghai Shoggoth
Another nice male, square and compact giving a balanced outline. Typical wheaten expression, good for bone and body. Coat had good colour and wave but texture a little dry. Preferred the shoulders of 1 and 2. Not quite the reach in front as 1 and 2 on the move.
VETERAN BITCH: 3 (2 ABS)
1 Pascoe’s Middlebury Dancing Queen
Oh boy, was this girl out to enjoy herself today! 8 year old young lady who stormed around the ring in true determined Wheaten style. Coat still of quality with colour, wave and texture. Good mouth and balanced head. Good tailset and topline which held on the move. Despite being rather overweight (!) this did not impair her moving and she did so true and straight up and down and with plenty of reach and drive. A well deserved win. BVIS
PUPPY BITCH: 1 (1 ABS)
YEARLING BITCH: 1
1 Fletcher’s Elijoamber Dancing Queen
19 month old Irish type with typical coat development for her age. Correct silky texture and sheen. Nice length of neck into well laid shoulders and good hind angulation giving good overall balance. Well bodied for age and good for bone. Good chest, topline, tail set, ear set and expression. Straight front and parallel through hocks which showed on the move up and down. Tendancy to pace on the move but covers the ground well when handler got her moving out. Shows great promise.
NOVICE BITCH: 1
1 Fletcher’s Elijoamber Dancing Queen
As above
GRADUATE BITCH: 4 (2 ABS)
1 Niven’s Kirktonhill Come What May
Sqaure and balanced profile. Good head planes with nice length to muzzle. Excels in eye colour or correct hazel brown. Good layback into straight topline held on the move. Strong in loin and deep rib. Good rear angles and strong quarters. Better reach in front than 2. Coat of good colour and wave. Well handled.
2 McFerran’s Kirktonhill Look No Further
Litter sister to 1 and similar in many areas. Preferred muzzle of 1. Moved close behind but had active hind drive but not the reach of 1.
SPECIAL BEGINNERS BITCH: 2
1 Niven’s Kirktonhill Come What May
2 McFerran’s Kirktonhill Look No Further
LIMIT BITCH: 4 (2 ABS)
1 Griffiths’ Manawyddan Brigid
Sqaure and compact girl. Good for bone and muscle. Strength in head but retaining femininity. Terrier expression. Good depth to chest and strong topline and loin. Enough angulation. Correct size. Good angles fore and aft. Straight front. Enough neck. Beautiful coat with good colour and wave and slight sheen. Happy and fluid mover and one of the few today that covered the ground. Good overall balance and moderation in all departments as asked for in the Breed Standard. Out moved the competition and pleased to award her BB and BIS.
2 Taylor’s Keridown Strathilsa
Nice bitch with good proportions . Heavier coat than 1 and still developing wave but nice texture. Not the strength in head as 1 and yet to complete bodying up. Good eye colour. Moved ok but tendancy to be close behind.
OPEN BITCH: 5 (1 ABS)
1 Matti & Omitogun’s Loofahsa Bohemia in Frontline
Up to size but compact in body and balanced profile. Correct hazel eye colour and good head dimensions. Beautiful coat. Good ears, expression. Pleasing neck into good layback and good hind angles. Firm topline and well set tail. Straight moving fore and aft and effortless reach and drive on side profile but just lacking in positivity. However close decision for BB. RBB
2 Howes’ Daisymaes Arrabella
Another nice bitch that could swop places on another day. Square and compact outline showing good reach and drive but preferred the overall balance in movement of 1 today. Enough colour and wave in coat. Another pleasing head with expressive ears. Enough neck and well bodied.
3 MacGregor’s Kirktonhill No Matter What ShCM
6 year old taking on the young gals! Not quite the body of 1 and 2 but coat of good colour and wave. Good reach of neck and another who moved straight fore and aft with good hind drive. Correct hazel eye colour and good use of ears.
4 Pascoe’s Middlebury Silver Lady
