AIREDALE DRIFFIELD 09 Judge: Mrs Marion Gregg BEST OF BREED : 4532 JACKSON, Mrs O K & SWASH Mrs M Ch Jokyl Star Flash AIREDALE JUDGE DRIFFIELD 09 Airedale Terriers In general exhibits had correct bite, good heads, expressions & strong muzzles but I feel the breed lacks some of the terrier characteristics (structure & temperament) you would expect from the king of terriers & short second thigh restricted movement in some. PD 1 Toulson’s Toulsyork, good head, strong muzzle, good neck, well placed shoulders, reasonable set-on, well enough off for second thigh, quite low hocks, kept topline on move. Would like shorter loin; 2 Collins & Curran’s Collcurr The Emperor, not as mature in head as 1. Good front & shoulders, ribs well sprung. Rises a little in topline but this might change on maturity. JD 1 Morris’ Nedella Mischiefman, unfortunately the very noisy tent upset this youngster. Straight front & good rib, short coupled, well angulated rear. Little soft in back but that could change; 2 Simpson & Storie’s Jonvias Montgomery. PGD 1 Pickering’s Jolliver Funky Monkey, balanced young dog in excellent form & hard condition with good coat & colour, good head, expression & ear carriage, well boned, good spring of rib, short loin & well angulated rear, enough second thigh. Rather unsettled movement in class but pulled it together in challenge, would like flatter shoulder blades. CC; 2 Bramham’s Jolliver Ronaldo, not liking the ring. Nice head & front. Would like better spring of rib & shorter loin. LD 1 Collins & Curran’s Collcurr Courageous, excellent head & expression, straight front, well laid shoulders, good legs & feet, sound topline kept on the move. Loin could be shorter. Well angulated rear, good coat texture, showed well. More height than CC winner. RCC; 2 Turner’s Crillie Cool As Jack, good head & expression, well bodied, quite short dog, good tailset & strong rear. Would like slightly finer front. Well presented; 3 Ward’s Whitby Twister. OD 1 Ventress’ Junaken Vaidrian, carrying a little too much weight especially in forehand. Good head & expression, excellent tailset, well angulated rear with enough second thigh; 2 Brown’s Dendaric Viking, well balanced dog without exaggeration, good head & ears, straight front, well ribbed & short loin. The noisy tent was not to his advantage. PB 1 Toulston’s Toulsyork Chapter Three, good head & expression, straight front, well bodied for youngster, tail on top with plenty behind, enough second thigh & low hocks. Movement a bit erratic in front. Won over dog in balance. BP. JB 1 Toulston’s What Comes Around via Toulsyork, nicely balanced, reasonable spring of rib & short loin, good head & expression, well angulated rear & low hocks, kept topline on move. Tiny bit short on front leg. RCC; 2 Edwards’ Smockalley Top Totty, lots to like about this bitch, good head & expression, nicely balanced cobby body, good tailset, well angulated rear, moved well. Being chubby all over meant you really had to feel for her good qualities, slimmed & conditioned would present a different picture. PGB 1 Miller’s Lakeaire Lily The Pink, well balanced with good rib, tail on top & well angulated rear, good coat & colour, good expression. Would prefer flatter shoulder blades. Moved OK; 2 Oakes’ Starbuks Primrose, cobby bitch, good balance & rib, good head & expression, tailset OK, well angulated rear, ample second thigh. Profuse furnishings made legs look short on profile, little overdone. Moved OK; 3 Edington Hall’s Jetstream Russian Jewel via Wendaire. LB 1 Oates’ Stabuks Ebony, good head & expression, well bodied with spring of rib, tail well placed, good rear angulation, hocks well let down. Front feet turning out slightly. Moved OK. OB 1 Jackson & Swash’s Ch Jokyl Star Flash, lovely balance, good substance but keeping femininity, excellent head & expression, good rib, short level topline kept on the move, tail on top, good rear angulation, well presented & in top form. CC & BOB; 2 Ch Nedella The Diamond, good head, neck & shoulders, straight front, tail well placed with plenty behind, enough second thigh, well presented. Not in top form. MARION GREGG
