AIREDALE LKA 09 Judge: Mrs B McCallum AIREDALE JUDGE LKA 09 Airedale Terriers Presentation in general is very good although did I detect a little clipping? Not so many dark rimmed eyes which do detract from that varminty expression. Movement I found very disappointing, far too many close behind & swinging fronts. I can’t help thinking that lack of free running exercise maybe partly to blame, running up a few hills would most likely help. PD (4,2a) 1 Hampton & Hall’s Muliebrity Grandisio, 10 months, big upstanding boy who doesn’t need to grow on any more. Good bite, eye & ear carriage. Head a little strong but goes with his size. Good strong bone & firm muscletone, nicely angulated, moved positively & retained his topline; 2 Morris’ Nedella A Kind Of Magic, 10 months, not quite as forward as 1. Good head, bite, ears & eye, nice length of neck, straight front, good layback of shoulder & turn of stifle. Topline a little slack at the moment but should strengthen with maturity. JD (2,1) 1 Toulson’s Toulsyork Combat Cooper, smart upstanding lad, presents good overall picture, nice head, dark eye, correct bite & ear carriage, reachy neck into firm straight back, well placed shoulders, good rear angulation, low hocks, strong quarters, firm muscletone, good rear movement. Needs to tighten in front. Well handled & presented. PGD (5,3) 1 Edwards’ Lytchdale Maestro, big boy, well off for bone & substance. Head could be more refined. Good bite, ear & eyes. Little short in neck & long in coupling. Good front & rear, excellent harsh jacket, moved OK. Not the quality I would expect from this handler; 2 Callon’s Sonorra Jackson at Russtam, standing presents an attractive well balanced outline & his initial circuit of the ring showed good movement & level topline. Good head, eye, bite, ears, lengthy neck, firm back, straight front, well laid shoulder placement. Unfortunately due to recent trauma I could do no more than evaluate his front. Pity. LD (2) 1 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Flash Gordon, attractive, well balanced young man who is just beginning to show off his masculinity. Lovely head & expression, good length of neck, firm level back, straight front, good shoulder placement, good turn of stifle, strong quarters, tail on top, beautifully presented, good coat & colour. To be critical his movement could have been steadier; 2 Turner’s Crillee Cool As Jack, upstanding masculine dog, good substance, balanced head, correct bite, eye & ear placement, good length of neck, firm level back, adequate angulation, shown in good coat & condition, moved OK. OD (6) 1 Averis’ Ch/Am Ch Longview Joker of Saredon, first time I have really had the opportunity to see this dog as I am usually getting ready for the puppy bitch class. Obviously I have heard conflicting reports of him but to me he presented a superbly attractive outline. Not overdone in any department, lovely head, keen dark eye giving sharp expression, good bite & ear carriage, flat skull, reachy neck into short level back, straight front, good layback of shoulder, nicely angulated with plenty behind the tail, well let down hocks, moved with great purpose, presented in immaculate condition, didn’t put a foot wrong in this class & thoroughly deserved CC. When challenging the bitch for BOB he pulled himself up impressively thus taking the top spot; 2 Collins’ Collcurr Courageous, good strong foreface, correct bite, dark eye, well placed ears which he used to advantage, nice length of neck merging into firm level back, good angulation, muscular quarters, good bone & substance, presented in good coat & condition, moved positively. Not a flashy dog but fits the Standard. RCC; 3 Iwahashi’s Rockridge JP Black Shadow. PB (2) Two happy lively puppies, lovely to see. 1 Turner’s Crillee Catch A Star, just turned 6 months, sweet little baby, mischievous expression, dark eye, correct bite & ear placement, neat feminine head, good length of neck, well placed shoulders, straight front, level back, adequate angulation, moved well for such a youngster. To be critical tighter trimming would present a more favourable picture. Nonetheless, pleased to award her BP. Hope she continues in the same vein; 2 Hampton & Hall’s Muliebrity True Spirit, litter sister to the PD winner but has more quality in my eyes. Proud young lady, good head, bite, eye & ear placement, good shoulders, level topline, good substance, presented in good condition, moved OK. JB (4,1) 1 Hacker & Jenkins’ Sherifs Winter Jasmine, just out of Puppy, pretty little girl, balanced make & shape, feminine head, dark eye, good bite, used ears well to her advantage, good length of neck, short level back, well carried tail, nice shoulder placement & rear angulation, sound mover, nicely presented, showed well; 2 Edwards’ Smockalley Top Totty, smart young lady, balanced outline, neat head, nice reach of neck, well placed shoulders, level back, good tailset & turn of stifle, scored in showmanship over 3 Hacker & Jenkins’ Sherifs Winter Dawn. PGB (10,5) 1 Miller’s Lakeaire Lily The Pink, eyecatching young bitch of good proportions, lovely head, sharp expression, dark eye, good ear placement, reachy neck into short level back, good angulation, straight front, well laid shoulders, excellent presentation, good texture coat, moved well. Considered for RCC; 2 Watt & Warden’s Sherifs Ruby Tuesday, smart feminine young lady who was unlucky to meet 1 in such fine fettle. Similar remarks apply all round, just lost out on animation; 3 Turner’s Crillee Cool China. LB (10,2) 1 Hughes’ Saredon Merry Legs, good head & expression, bite, eye & ear carriage all correct, good length of neck merging into short level back, straight front, nice layback of shoulder & turn of stifle, firm muscletone, good coat & colour, well presented, showed steadily & moved soundly; 2 Toulson’s What Comes Around via Toulsyork, smart, upstanding young lady, lovely expression, good head, eye, bite & ears, moderate length of neck, level back, good substance, well turned stifle, shown in good condition. Movement not as positive as 1; 3 Lee’s Stargus Black Lace. OB (3,1) 1 Jackson & Swash’s Ch Jokyl Star Flash, very pretty young lady who just about ticks all the appropriate boxes. Lovely head & expression, dark eye, good bite & correct ear carriage, reachy neck merging into firm level back, straight front, good layback of shoulder echoed by rear angulation, excellent presentation & expertly handled. Well deserved CC. Unfortunately she relaxed just that bit too much in the challenge. Should have told that male where to go!; 2 Gregg’s Bambsua Roll Model, aptly named bitch who lives up to her name. Neat head, dark eye, correct bite, used her ears to advantage, particularly in the challenge. Good length of neck, level topline, good tailset, good angulation, firm muscle, super grizzle coat, moved soundly. RCC.
