STAFFORD JUDGE MANCHESTER BITCHES 09

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

BITCHES – A lovely quality entry with few absentees. I am concerned at one or two short forearms creeping in, this is immediately evident especially on the move & is a construction fault. Also disappointed in fitness. Far too many good quality exhibits lost out carrying too much weight with hardly any waistline completely spoiling overall profile, with some weak quarters which could bring with them whelping difficulties. Ours is a muscular agile breed, fitness & muscle do not come by a lighter diet just before a show & feet need road walking. On the plus side most fit the Standard in size & a great improvement in mouths, some tight canines, but nothing to penalise. Because we automatically expect it to be good we rarely mention temperament, but as that is one of the most important features of our breed it was excellent.

Let these babies move round the ring to help them settle with typical Stafford nature, fully enjoying themselves but enough to assess.

1 Cramer’s Dardanians Andromeda, many pieds have to be handled to be fully appreciated but this 9 month old attractive pied overall markings were distinct & enhancing, front quite mature for age, good head shape emerging, clean mouth, very attentive with eyes following & using ears, very steady on the move. Only lost out on maturity for BPB;

2 Stanway’s Waystaff Fits The Bill, good body shape, 8 months, just finished season so carrying a little fluid. Lovely headed youngster, liked her eye shape & colour, ears well placed, ribs coming as for age, topline good at this stage even on the move;

3 Hale & Kemp’s Caymenstaffs Oo La La.

P (14)

Nice class of youngsters, maturity playing a deciding factor but some nice babies waiting in the wings.

1 Francis & Hillman’s Samtan Forget-Me-Not, liked the shape on this 11 months promising youngster, ribs & body maturing well as expected as this stage of development, beautiful head, clean mouth, good stop, lovely dark eye, ear carriage adding to expression, starting to show strength in quarters & in at waist. Pushed hard by

2 but just had that little more finish giving a better performance but feel these two will juggle places as they mature. BPB;

2 Ainsworth’s Kalhols Cheeky Girl, lovely outline of head, dark eye, well filled, good stop, clean mouth, lovely large teeth, ribs just right, short back, liked her angulations & carried tail correctly;

3 Bowler’s Bethane Modjadji at Trelynbow.

JB(10)

Beautiful class of quality.

1 Hopkins’ Trufflestaff Monifa Kanika, came in the ring demanding attention, on top form, lovely bitch, correct balance of skull to muzzle, liked her eye & ear placement, enhancing expression, clean mouth, width to front with plenty of lung space, good strong neck flowing into well laid back shoulders, spring of rib, waisted in to good strong quarters which showed on the move, head up keeping topline level, lovely impression of power without losing out on agility, parallel movement, balance of bull & terrier with nothing exaggerated, feminine bitch keeping the charms of her sex without losing the strength of her breed. CC;

2 Lowe & Hedges’ Ramblix Revisionist at Khanspride, similar lines to 1, well proportioned head, lovely expression, used her eyes & ears to full advantage, good depth to body with width at front, liked her strength of neck cleanly set into shoulders, spring of rib well in at waist, good height to weight ratio, liked her size matching bone & substance giving overall balance in a compact shape, never let her handler down when it mattered, moving with confidence, head up keeping topline level & the right propulsion both ways. RCC;

3 Jackson & Whitehouse’s Bourtie Wot A Lot of Steal.

Y (11)

1 Caswell & Dowling’s Leger Odds On Favourite at Cyberstaff, lovely shape of skull, nice balance to head & earset, eyes set forward, good front assembly, depth in chest, ribs well sprung, well boned legs, liked her topline that remained firm when moving. Little between these bitches, 1 had slightly more on the skull & little more muscletone on quarters but very close decision;

2 Reaney & Jackson’s Rolenska Leading Lady of Saxanjax, has much to commend her, liked her body outline, good shape to head, like the muzzle length & underjaw, has width on front with plenty of brisket, liked her bone & substance ratio, very attentive, moved with purpose;

3 Funnell’s Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack.

PG (9)

1 Wall & Webb’s Jessica’s Midnight Miss at Manark, well proportioned head, tight lips, clean mouth, neat ears well set on, had height & weight in balance, ribs well sprung, good tuck-up, easy action on the move & topline remaining level;

2 Hughes’ Who Da Thought It of Acutestaff, lovely head & expression, strength in foreface, dark round eye, looking straight forward, strength in neck, well ribbed, good hindquarters. Feel a little less covering would have balanced;

3 Patrick & Harrison’s Trawden Jet Black.

L (12)

1 Cairn’s Dinalghi Touch of Class, lovely coated, well balanced head, loved the proportions of skull to muzzle, good tight mouth, front OK, good legs & well boned impressive silhouette, well in at loins, strength in quarters gave her the edge;

2 Simpson’s Briganah Black Orchard, preferred front & lovely feet on this lady. Lovely head, clean lips, nice shoulders & good spring of rib, good all round body shape. Would prefer a hint less covering;

3 Powell’s Brizeacks Faith in Your Eyes.

O (13)

1 Blacker’s Ch Crossguns Memphis Belle, I take nothing from this beautiful put together lady, well deserving of honours already bestowed, well boned, strong headed, clean mouth, lovely dark eye, good width to chest, plenty of space for lungs, well developed body & strong hindquarters, moved OK to take the class. Lost interest when it mattered which I am sure her experienced handler realised a she worked hard to keep her head & interest up on the move;

2 Day & Needham’s Stormpike Ebony And Ivory at Bullred, pushed 1 hard. Well chiselled feminine head, good clean bite, well placed dark eye, neat ears to complete the picture & enhance expression, good spring of rib, strength in quarters & in at loins. Not the strength in front of 1 that decided the placing;

3 Robinson, Robinson & Hedges’ Leger Photo Finish for Ramblix.

V (1)

1 Funnell’s Knockon Minerva of Powerpack, full of fire this 8 years young lady, still plenty of head shape, lovely dark eye, clean mouth, strong front & neck, ribs well sprung & quarters many younger bitches would have been proud of. A credit to her owner. BV.
