STAFFORDSHIRE BULL MANCHESTER 2010
STAFFORDSHIRE BULL BITCHES JUDGE MANCHESTER 10 STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER BITCHES: My thanks to the Committee for their hospitality and well organised show, it always makes for an enjoyable day of judging when things run smoothly. I was a little disappointed not to find an abundance of young promising bitches on view and unfortunately found too many lacking in bone for my taste, not that I am looking for heavy squat animals but they are supposed to be a mix of bull and terrier – not lacking in substance or stripped down too fine in some cases. I was looking for fit and nicely conditioned bitches and was satisfied I found this in my winners. MP (14,3) 1 Bowdery’s Zakstaff Miss O’reilly At Southstar, dark brindle of decent size, head developing nicely with typical expression, good ear carriage, dark round eyes, good bite, straight front, topline OK on and off the move. Should do well with maturity. 2 Davies’ Eclypstaff Lady Luck, good headed black brindle, dark eyes, true front, bodying up well for age, responded well but just missed out today as she didn’t move as positively as first. 3. McGrath’s Jajca’s Sweet Dream. P(11) 1 Matthews & Jones’ Gallantstaff Precious Gift, top size red, very mature for age. Head shape OK with strong muzzle, dark eyes set to look ahead, correct bite, good pigmentation throughout. Moved and handled well. 2 Canavan’s Boldstock Bella Quinn, dark brindle with white markings, attractive typy youngster of good proportions, nice head and expression, clean bite, straight front with well boned legs and good feet. Close decision. 3 Longman’s Machusi Dreamworld. J(7,1) 1 Norton’s Mintar Look Again For Tikkurilan, black brindle with a good front and attractive head, piercing dark eyes and keen expression. Muscled body, level topline, good bend of stifle and presented in first class condition with gleaming coat. Expertly handled and moved well with drive. 2 Booth & Grimwood’s Ramblestaff Jorja On My Mind, another very nice dark brindle, smaller than first but lovely head shape with round dark eyes, neat ears, correct bite. Straight front, adequate bone, well ribbed and moved well. Carrying a little weight on loan, and not quite the fitness or muscle tone of 1. 3 Raynsford & Raynsford’s Caribbean Coco At Raynstaff. Y (8,2) 1 Westerby’s Ramblestaff Colour My Days, standard sized dark brindle with a decent head shape, clean lips, dark round eyes, straight front, level topline. Good mover. 2 Byrne’s Lackyle Bean Ceilteach At Elcostaff, nice balanced, good headed dark brindle with dark eyes, ear carriage OK. Nice body but would have preferred a better topline. Handled OK. 3 Barker, Ventham, Booth & Grimwood’s Ramblestaff Miss Demeanour. PG (24,3) 1 McGrath’s Tusselstaff Black Fury, top size black brindle, nice balance of bull & terrier with a good head, distinct stop, strong foreface, correct mouth with large teeth, dark eyes set well apart & neat ears. Straight front, good shoulder placement, firm body with ample rib & level topline. Handled well and moved like a dream. 2 Dewar’s Mintmar One For One, again bull & terrier type with similar qualities, dark brindle with correct head shape. Close decision, moved well, just preferred overall outline of 1. 3 Funnell’s Kewaunee Pocahontas For Powerpack. L(14,5) 1 Manito’s Rotherstaff Indian Ink At Dynastaff, compact dark brindle who stands foursquare and would be hard to overlook with her obvious qualities, a strong head with really intense dark eyes, neat ear carriage, scissor bite, good front & body, well boned and nice tight feet. Shown in rock hard condition, Responded Well To Her Handler And Certainly Moved With Drive. 2 Powell’s Ironbrays Angel Of Faith, dark brindle with pleasing head, correct bite, but would have liked darker eyes. Moved and handled well. 3 Craddock’s Luna Landing. O (11,3) 1 Blacker’s Ch Crossguns Memphis Belle, quality dark brindle who I judged as a Junior and she has most definitely fulfilled all the promise she showed then, maturing into a cracking adult with an excellent head shape, deep stop, neatest of ears, round dark eyes set well apart, correct bite with large white teeth, good body with excellent muscle definition, straight front and level topline. Carrying just the right amount of weight to give her overall balance, a picture of strength but not overdone, and on her toes all the time. Handled well, shown in tip top condition and very worthy of her CC, with BOB on the referee’s decision. Went on to get Group 4 Terrier. 2 Lowe & Hedges’ Ramblix Revisionist At Khanspride, another nice dark brindle bitch with plenty of virtues on offer, good head & expression, dark eyes, well placed ears, correct bite and clean lipped. Adequately developed body with level topline. Gave her all and showed well but just couldn’t match the fitness and sparkle of 1. Pleased to award her RCC. 3 Winrow & Rhodes’ Jayneze Hasta La Vista. Vet (1) 1 Funnell’s Knockon Minerva Of Powerpack, top size dark brindle coming up to 10 years old and still in decent shape, enjoying her outing. Handled well and a good mover for her age.
