Staffordshire Bull Terriers

I was an emergency judge as due to ill health Maureen Broadstock was unable to judge. I wish her a speedy recovery.

A decision was made to stay outside for the judging, although we had intermittently hard drizzle. Throughout the classes there were some very good exhibits, the age classes being notable for their in-depth quality.

1 Bruton & Page’s Zakstaff Alfredo, beautifully balanced b/br, 7½ months, carries good bone, has a distinct stop, his eyes are round & dark, correct bite, good straight front, level topline, good bend of stifle, moved soundly, good straight front, level topline, good bend of stifle, moved soundly, should have a promising future.

A class of some promising puppies, in which competition was very keen.

1 Jones’ Maxsta Loud N’ Proud, upstanding b/br, beautifully balanced throughout, strong well shaped head, excellent expression, neat well carried rose ears, dark eye, correct bite, strong neck, good bone, straight front, leads to well laid back shoulders, level topline, good spring of rib & tuck at the loin, correct bend of stifle, moved soundly, while retaining his level topline, feet are well padded;

2 Pettifer & Churchill’s Check Me Out, well balanced b/br, well shaped head, correct stop, neat well carried ears, dark eye, correct bite, stands foursquare, good straight front, level topline, good bend of stifle, moved soundly on his well padded feet, handled well;

3 Booth & Grimwood’s Izumis Cotton Eye Joe.

1 Robinson & Hedge’s Leger We Stand United at Ramblix, nicely balanced b/br, strong head, excellent expression, neat well carried ears, dark round eye, correct bite, strong underjaw, pronounced cheek muscles, straight front, well laid back shoulders, compact body, good spring of rib, level topline, well muscled, good bend of stifle, feet are well padded, moved well & in excellent condition;

2 Membury’s Mitzstaff No Mercy, b/br, strong well shaped head, dark eye, correct scissor bite, good straight front, good spring of rib, well muscled, moved & handled well;

1 Stanway’s Ch Waystaff Strikes Back, what an eyecatching dog, an exhibit of great quality, lovely blend of bull & terrier, red pied, beautifully balanced from nose to tail, fit muscular, gleaming condition, does not carry any exaggerations, well defined head, dark round eye, neat well carried ears, correct bite, good underjaw, pronounced cheek muscles, strong neck, well laid shoulders, straight front, good depth of brisket, excellent spring of rib, carries a level topline which he holds on the move, correct bend of stifle, movement was second to none, very sound & powerful, tail carriage correct, feet well padded. 2 Byrnes’ Ch Lackyle Diabhal Dearbhchlo, b/br, excellent pigmentation, beautifully balanced from nose to tail, fit muscular gleaming condition, does not carry any exaggerations, well defined head, dark round eye, neat well carried ears, correct bite, good underjaw, shows a tremendous amount of animation, strong neck, well laid shoulders, straight front, good depth of brisket, excellent spring of rib, carries a level topline which he holds on the move, correct bend of stifle, moved very soundly;

3 Asker’s Colliermans Lionheart at Dazmarnic.

A class with plenty of quality throughout, close decisions had to be made.

1 Raynsford’s Caribbean Coco at Raynstaff, very attractive & well balanced b/br with white chest, excellent head shape, distinct stop, well placed dark eye, neat rose ears, strong muzzle, correct bite, good strong neck, well laid back shoulders, level topline, excellent hindquarters, tail well set & carried, moved well on her well padded feet. BP & PG2;

2 Booth & Grimwood’s Ramblestaff Jorja On My Mind, b/br bitch of quality, excellent, strong well shaped head, many of the remarks made on 1 also apply to this exhibit, shown & handled well;

3 Carter’s Seastaff Polar Star.

1 Bowler’s Bethane Modjadji at Trelynbow, dark brindle, hard muscular condition, well shaped strong but feminine head, neat rose ears, round dark eye, keen expression, correct bite, strong underjaw, strong neck, well laid back shoulders, straight front, correct depth of brisket, spring of rib is excellent & her waist is well defined, level topline, correct bend of stifle which reflected itself in her sound movement, good feet;

2 Norton’s Mintmar Look Again for Tikkurilan, very typy b/br, pleasing feminine head shape, good ear & eye placement, correct bite, strong underjaw giving excellent expression, well balanced when viewed from all angles, moved soundly;

2 Martin’s Lisas Lucky Charm at Alvis, impressive red with white markings, excellent head shape, strong but feminine which in turn gives a great expression, neat well carried ears, lovely dark eye & correct bite, well proportioned body, sound movement, presented a great picture;

3 Simpson’s Briganah Black Orchid.

1 Day & Needham’s Stormpike Ebony And Ivory at Bullred, b/br, great quality, excellent condition, head is strong & well shaped, retaining a feminine expression, neat rose ears, dark round eyes, correct scissor bite, pronounced cheek muscles, well laid back shoulders, level topline, good spring of rib, stood foursquare, good bend of stifle, held her level topline in movement, moving very soundly on her well padded feet. 2 Blacker’s Ch Crossguns Memphis Belle, b/br, bitch of excellent type & quality, beautifully balanced throughout, a blend of bull & terrier, great head & expression, neat well carried rose ears, dark round eye, correct bite, strong underjaw, her straight front is complimented by correct depth of brisket & a level topline, excellent spring of rib, well muscled quarters, correct angulation, good feet, moved soundly & with confidence.
