STAFFORDSHIRE BULL LKA 09 Judge: Mrs A Gatenby STAFFORDSHIRE BULL JUDGE LKA 09 Staffordshire Bull Terriers A really top quality entry. I only have one slight worry & that is that there seems to be a lot of light eyes creeping in, especially in b/brs. My advice as most people know is to bring a white dog or bitch into your breeding programme as this seems to improve the pigment. Otherwise, quality was excellent. PD 1 Smart & Hill’s Gwynford Jimi Hendrix, good headed dog, up to size but good overall balance, dark round eye & noticeably big teeth (a definite plus), moved & showed well; 2 Brown’s Roughnecks Crusader for Inshaig, red dog, strong head with short muzzle, nice short back with a level topline, good turn of stifle, sound mover; 3 Enfield & Ingram’s Pitstar Romper Stomper. JD 1 Pearce’s Bullhawk Code Black, very typical of this kennel, very well balanced with a strong head, nice stop with keen expression, very sound in front with nice neat feet, moved well; 2 Powell’s Cwmcalon Son Of The Lord, chunky little dog with a very strong head, short strong neck, good rib & depth of brisket, short back with strong hindquarters; 3 Scarlett & Reid’s Ramblestaff Ebeneezer Good. YD 1 Lewis’ Charmonics Blue Blade, up to size blue dog with a strong head & dark eye, very strong muzzle, nice neat ears. Feet could be better but roadwork could improve this. Moved well; 2 Essex’s Javawolf Mighty Mouse, white dog. A little immature as yet but has it all there. Short back with good turn of stifle. Ears a little high but he will grow into them. Lovely mover; 3 Birbeck’s Janikastco Jumpin Jak Flash. GD (3,2) 1 Hall’s Heroic Lad, stood alone but worthy of his place. Nice brindle with the shortest of backs, he has a strong head with a lovely expression, moved very soundly. PGD 1 Karlsson’s Valglo Enzo of Jewellstaff, really super dog with very powerful head, deep rib with well laid back shoulders, very free moving dog with short back & plenty of drive when moving, I liked him very much; 2 Swift’s Longdrive Manhatton, very sound dog with a cracking head, good stop & short muzzle, strong neck & plenty of power in front, one of the few dogs here with a very dark eye, moved with drive; 3 Funnell’s Veklorra Barney Rebel at Powerpack. LD 1 Streeter’s Vale Of Bryn Rhys, this is a dog I have admired for a long time, a lovely pied dog who reminds me of the old fashioned Staffords I have known, strong head with very dark eye, level topline with strong hindquarters & plenty of drive when moving. RCC; 2 Dillon’s Cragails Get A Grip, smaller than 1 but very compact with the shortest of backs, lovely shaped head with keen expression, very sound in front, moved & showed very well; 3 Brown’s Rotherstaff Saracen. OD 1 Wray & Hedges’ Ch Leger Carrion Showing, what can I say about this dog that hasn’t been said before? A very compact dog who fits the Standard very well, strong headed without being overdone, good bone & front with correct turnout of pastern, short back with level topline, good depth of rib, strong hindquarters, showed to perfection, a credit to his handler. CC; 2 Stewart’s Rapstaff The Game, an up to size b/br dog with a very typy head & keen expression, good mouth with large teeth, strong neck & well laid back shoulders, good cut up of loin with strong hindquarters, moved very soundly; 3 Stanway’s Ch Waystaff Strikes Back. PB This was a very strong class with some lovely puppies & it was a shame some of them had to go cardless. I was very impressed with the puppies, who are the future of our breed. 1 McGrath’s Jajca’s Sweet Dream, very compact little girl with a gorgeous head & expression, good front with very neat feet, neat ears, well held & the darkest of eyes, she showed & moved very well. BP; 2 Gudgeon & Fury’s Temkade Double Kiss, bigger than 1 but with a very strong head for a puppy with a pronounced stop, dark eye with nice expression, strong shoulders, well placed with good rib, nice coat quality, moved & showed well; 3 Reed’s Zakstaff Sophies Choice. JB 1 Smith, Cox & Wagstaff’s Willowstaff Barbed Tongue, well up to size, she is going to be a powerful bitch when she is fully mature, strong head with a broad skull & a good stop, nice neat feet, turning out slightly at the pasterns, plenty of drive when moving; 2 Booth & Grimwood’s Ramblestaff Jorja On My Mind, very compact bitch, smaller than 1 but everything in the right place, has the darkest of eyes & neat well held ears, very well balanced & moved freely; 3 Norton’s Mintmar Look Again for Tikkurilan. YB 1 Westerby’s Ramblestaff Colour My Days, bigger than you usually see from this kennel but well within the Standard & a well balanced bitch with it, nicely shaped head with keen expression, moved well & made a pleasing picture; 2 Williams’ Gwynford Celtic Gypsy, similar to 1 but not quite so much leg. Strong head with a lovely dark round eye, well laid back shoulders which makes for a nice free moving dog. Both these bitches have a bright future; 3 Turner’s Trawden Snowball. GB 1 Crick’s Jessie Rose of Cricklestaf, well balanced bitch with a delightful head, very sound in front with plenty of bone, good spring of rib, short coupled with good strong hindquarters; 2 Day & West’s Izumis Luk At U Lukin At Me, white bitch, rather immature at the moment but the construction is very sound. Lovely coat quality, darkest of eyes which is generally found in white dogs; 3 Payton’s Sunnystone Party Girl at Tonpay. PGB 1 Atherton & Kemp’s Tornadostorm Dancing Queen, good head with well defined stop, strong neck of the correct length, good shoulders with nice depth of rib & brisket, very strong, muscular hindquarters, neat feet; 2 McDonald & Foster’s Tusselstaff Black Fury, quite a big girl but very soundly constructed, cracking head with a very nice expression, short coupled with a good turn of stifle, she was one of the few who held her tail, ‘like a pump handle’ when moving; 3 Funnell’s Kewaunee Pocahontas for Powerpack. LB 1 Manito’s Rotherstaff Indian Ink at Dynastaff, this is a little bitch I have admired very much, nicely put together with a strong head, good, well held ears & a nice expression, moved & showed very well; 2 Hyde’s Sedgbred Black Angel, similar to 1. Eyes on the light side. Very pleasing head shape, good coat quality, short coupled with a level topline which makes for a nice free movement; 3 Kerry & Hopgood’s Sirons Gift Of Antroboss. OB 1 Fulton’s Ch Never Forgotten, quite a big girl but with super construction, strong, well shaped head with a dark eye, neat ears, & big teeth. A very good, typical Stafford. CC & BOB; 2 Thomas’ Sunnystone Steel Magnolia, a more old fashioned type of Stafford but has improved greatly over the last year, strong head with well defined stop, strong front, good neck, level topline & strong hindquarters, moved like a dream & made a most pleasing picture. RCC; 3 Blacker’s Ch Crossguns Memphis Belle.
