To Professor Steve Dean Kennel Club Chairman

Review The KC Policy Of Professional Dog Handlers Judging Whilst Also Being Paid Handlers. This Is A Conflict Of Interest And One That Is Not Allowed In The USA. Professional Handlers Are Paid By Results, The Greater The Win, The Bigger The Pay Packet. It Is Surely Unethical To Sit In The Judges Hospitality Lounges And Dine Together As A Judge With Others, Then The Following Week Exhibit As A (Paid By Results) Professional Handler Under These Same Judges.
This Practice Of Professional Handlers Doing Both Can Be Open To Accusations Of Venality.
The KC Policy On This Matter In Its Present Form Is Flawed.

Professional Handlers charge a standard fee to exhibit a dog. This includes expenses and may include the show entry if the owner doesn't do it. The standard charges apply just to take the dog into the ring. BOB, CCs and Res CCs all incur a further charge. A Group win or a Best In Show will incur further substantial charges. Each entrance into the ring (Group or BIS) will be charged for also. Do Professional Handlers when judging discuss dogs with other Judges? Of course they do. Could this result in planting seeds? That Is a matter that cannot be proved. Remember, a Professional Handler is paid by results; the greater the result the bigger the pay packet. Please support this Petition and if successful it will remove any accusations of Corruption. The Kennel Club should be doing the right thing and get their house in order, not encouraging the practice of Professional Handlers judging. Send the link to all of your friends and ask them to petition The Kennel Club.

The above is a slice of The Judging appointments that the Kennel Club have afforded Professional Handler Geoff Corish and his partner Michael Coad

Some people are never invited to Judge at Crufts, but it seems to be that two Professional Handlers are continually asked. Surely this cannot be ethical.
