AUSTRALIAN CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 13 Judge: Mr Albert Wight BEST OF BREED : 4488 MCCOURT, Mrs S & EARDLEY Mr P Ch Silhill Chip Off The Old Rock AUSTRALIAN JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 13 Australian Terriers It is a shame that the entries in this most engaging of breeds are becoming less & less & it is hard to know why they are not more popular! Great characters, they all seem to love the show ring & certainly they love people. PD (2) 1 BP & RCC, Jones’ Wyeafon Fiery Dancer, what a start to the day with this red charmer. Super type, loved his head length, little stop, strong foreface, eyes a good colour & full of anticipation in expression. Sufficient overall length, well boned, in smashing coat & his attitude & self assurance carried him through to the RCC. Surely a cert to get made up; 2 Leeson’s Amberush Walkin On Sunshine, rather a promising bl/t which is a rich hue. Good for size, so well ribbed, level in back & well handled. Not yet the positive stride of 1 as he circles the ring & he became a little cocky & bouncy at times. Well balanced head but I felt Dancer had the better expression. JD & PGD (0). LD (2) 1 Jones’ Silhill Private Collection at Wyeafon, what a smart overall outline this chap has, sturdy in body, good length of ribs, such a good arch to his neck & he is well let down behind. In really good jacket, showed non stop, head is good, ample length with strong foreface, little stop & neat ears carried bang on top. Showed a positive step as he circled the ring. OD (2) 1 CC & BOB, McCourt & Eardley’s Ch Silhill Chip Of The Old Block, entered the ring with attitude to burn – that ‘look at me I worth it’ gaze. In fantastic jacket, ultra sound, strides out so positively & with an urgency & spring in his step. Lovely body to go over, spirit level backline, perfect tail set & carriage, his sheer pzzazz meant the issue was never in doubt. His delightful head & expression are the icing on the cake. VB (1) 1 Foskett’s Wilfnbell Uptown Girl, a bit paler in colour than I would like but perhaps as in humans, it is an age thing! Lots to like, good neck & body, carries no excess weight & so well muscled. Has full dentition & so co-operative as a showgirl. Fairly sound, has such good head carriage. PB (2) 1 Millvalley Simply Blue Petitpaws, I found her to be quite an engaging little bl/t. Lovely body length, good neck, ample bone & harsh coat, head has length, eyes are a good colour & her ears are bang on top. Went around the ring in a fearless manner & I was pleased to give her BPB; 2 Leeson’s Amberrush Quick As A Flash, what a character! Certainly in love with the world & greeted me most effusively. Nicely headed, enough neck, very well ribbed & bodied. Tail a little on the gay side & she was less collected on the move than 1. JB (1) 1 Mitchell’s Boomerang’s Heaven Sent, bl/t puppy, fair head, sufficient neck length, decent spring of rib. I would like to see her carry a little more body. Her topline runs up behind though it is OK on the move. Lovely tailset, in good coat. PGB (1) 1 Faulkener’s Ralindi Fortune Teller, sweet little person who clearly adores her owner who I assume is a novice as the bitch was not in show coat. Pleasing head & ears, enough muzzle length, level backed with good tail set & carriage. Colours too pale but she might look much better if her jacket was stripped & prepared again. However, she was a happy little person & never stopped wagging her tail. LB (2) 1 O’Reilly’s Silhill Royal Blue, what a really good quality bitch this is. Terrific length & outline with that well arched neck, back level & firm, hindquarters well muscled with good hocks, head is good, ample length, eyes a good colour. Ears never down & she moved out with a light, quick stride; 2 Cook’s Wilfnbell Miss Mulberry, nice for sized, bone & head qualities, in good coat which was spotless in condition. I felt that she is just too short coupled so the desired outline did not appeal so much as that of 1. OB (4) 1 CC, McCourt & Eardley’s Silhill Snap Dragon with Sherex; 2 RCC, Foskett, Tryrrell & Freer’s Silhill Stelata, two really smart red bitches sharing so many common virtues. They are class items, that head length, the body length, the good reach of neck & desired head carriage, well boned, sound moving & both seemed to be born show girls. Their heads are really good, ears bang on top, eyes well shaped with the colour toning so well with their red jackets & furnishings. In a close run thing I gave Dragon the edge in front action, but on another day this could be reversed. These bitches should both become titled; 3 Jones’ Wyeafon Illusion In Red. ALBERT WIGHT |
