AUSTRALIAN DRIFFIELD 15 Judge: Miss L M Bell BEST OF BREED : 3687 MCCOURT, Mrs S & EARDLEY, Mr P & O'REILLY Mesdam Silhill Barney Rubble AUSTRALIAN JUDGE DERIFFIELD 15 Australian Terriers What a pleasure to have a large proportion of young dogs in the entry. Always good to see new young Aussies starting on their show careers. The conditions of the wet grass, which seemed to put extra spring in the step of the Aussies & the distractions from the next ring did give one or two handlers an extra challenge, but this is very much the Aussie character which can be a handlers stressful moment & makes an enthusiast just smile! MPD (2) 1 McCourt, Eardley & O’Reilly’s Silhill Barney Rubble, a showy pup, who had excellent hind action & powered effortlessly across the grass. Moved well in profile. Which emphasized his correct proportions, the arched neck & the level topline. Correct mouth & pigmentation. Presented to show all his features. Liked the expression & use of ears. Well coated for his age. Tailset good & carried his tail well. Correct amount of bone & the delightful Aussie temperament. He showed well for both his handlers. Although 8½ months, he had the edge on the older dogs & was awarded the CC, BP, BOB; 2 Stoddart’s Millvalley Shades Of Red, another pup to catch my eye. He had the length of back & level topline plus the elegant neck giving a typical proportioned profile. Typical Aussie expression. Strong jaw & flat skull. Good pigmentation. Correct shaped eye with good colour. Good shoulders & front construction giving his excellent front movement. Right amount of bone & substance. He found the day a lot of fun, although I am not sure his handler appreciated it as he did not settle enough at times. But he’s young & that’s an Aussie! RCC. PD (2) 1 S Barney Rubble; 2 Skelton’s Spitewinter Ooh Ah Henry, a lovely expression & correctly proportioned head. Ears carried & used well. Moved confidently around the ring when he settled. In between coats & needs a bit of time to body up. JD (1,1a). YD, PGD, LD (0). OD (3) 1 McCourt Eardley & O’Reilly’s Silhill Red Crackle, proportioned head with a flat skull. Used his ears well. Lovely arched neck & good topline & another showy dog as he moved around the ring. Moved OK. Correct bone, well bodied & had depth of chest; 2 Smith’s Ch/Gr Ch Temora Ri Diercc, a lovely head with correct proportions, good strength of jaw. Good pigmentation & typical Aussie expression. In profile he has the length of back, neck & outline typical for this breed. Good bone. Coat texture good. Tailset OK. Lost to class winner as his did not move quite as positively; 3 Skelton’s Ch Millvalley Scotch Mist. GCD (0). MPB (1,1). PB (2,1) 1 Stoddart’s Spitewinter Aefond Kiss for Millvalley, another one who did not make things easy for her handler. A typical correctly proportioned pup with a feminine head, flat skull & furnishings. Good pigmentation, her eye was a little lighter which did detract a little from the expression. Still a little immature, but she is only 9 months & plenty of time for her to develop. JB (1) 1 Jones’ Wilfnbell Girl On Fire via Wyeafon, a lovely head on this young lady. Her typical expression enhanced with the correct pigmentation & a leather forming all added to complete the picture. Well proportioned, with correct bone & substance for her age. Ears OK. Moved OK & when settled showed very well. She certainly displayed a lot of Aussie character. RCC. YB, PGB (0). LB (1) 1 Skelton & Stoddart’s Millvalley Blue Persimmon, another with a lovely head & expression – very typical of the breed. Lovely eye. Good pigmentation & strong jaw, rich tan. Good furnishings. Correct bone & proportions. Strong & correct rear action which she use to power around the ring. Good bend of stifle. Depth of chest good. Showed well. Strode out well in the ring & gave the dog winner a run for his money. CC, BOS. She is still young & just lacked a little body to give her the edge for the BOB. OB (1) 1 Jones’ Wyeafon Czarina, another showy Aussie which is what you expect in this class. A feminine bitch with good pigmentation to give the right expression. Good to see the leather forming. Good neck & topline giving a good outline. Her movement was not as consistent as the main winners. GCB (0). L M BELL |
