AUSTRALIAN JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 18

This is a breed I have always liked. I handled a few for my late husband who bred champions when the breed was much larger numerically. Such a shame to see the smaller numbers being shown now, unfortunately it is not the only terrier breed with this problem.

PD (1)

1 Nottingham & Cawdell-Owen's Valmar Von Den Grauan Anfurten (Imp). This is one very attractive eye-catching youngster with much going for him particularly his great temperament, nice head, eye and mouth, correct for length of neck but for me his proportions are more generic terrier than true Aussie type, his back and legs length is more my own breed (Norwich) so would prefer more length to back as required in the standard. Also, being old school Aussies, I found him too black in colour rather than blue, having said that I can see what some find attractive about him, and moved with the light springy action of his breed and was in great coat and condition. For BP preferred the type of the bitch.

JD (2, 1)

1 Ferris & Russell's Wyeafon Percival. A very showy dog of good size, nice for head with correct muzzle length, correct length of neck and back but would like a better topline, a bit short of coat today and not the best front movements, very good quarters and used them well, really driving from the rear.

PGD (1)

1 Taylor's Wilfnbell Barney's Blue. Excelled in showmanship, correct for length of neck and back and short legs, overall well proportioned with level topline, tail on top and well carried, moved well behind but front movement not the best tending to weave, not moving correctly from the shoulder, in good condition.

LD (2, 1)

1 Skelton's Ir Spitewinter Ooh Ah Henry. Good red of typical Aussie type, head OK with eye just dark enough, and correct size and shape, would prefer a tad more length to back for absolute perfection but overall a balanced dog in good coat and condition, made the most of himself to win RCC.

OD (2, 1)

1 Stoddard & Stubbs' Ch Millvalley Shades Of Red CW16 CJW16. Wish this dog could have more of himself on the day but overall such a typical Aussie with the shape and proportions I was looking for. Liked his head, neck, topline and length of back to leg, at times really looked the picture, moved ok and in good coat, did enough to win cc, which I think made him up. Lost BOB on his rather lack lustre performance compared to the bitch.

JB

1 Jones' Dunham She's Got The Look At Wyeafon. Lovely little red bitch of correct Aussie proportions, loved her outline, topline and neck. showed so well, in excellent coat and moved with reach and drive, ultra-feminine. I placed her well in a variety class later. Best Puppy, really liked her so won RCC.

LB (2)

1 Nottingham & Dunbar's Silhill Pops. Very well handled to make the most of this red, good head, eye and mouth, correct proportions, not the best tail carriage I saw but lovely front and moved well both ways.

2 Jones' Wyeafon Miranda Frost. Bigger than winner and head ok, but completely lacked top knot which gives an untypical Aussie look, and is a bit leggy, movement could have been better, lovely tail carriage and set on back of good length.

OB (4, 1)

1 Skelton's Ch Willvalley Blue Persimmon. Really liked this bitch and think I also liked when I judged her as a puppy, lovely blue in good coat and very typical, head, eye and mouth correct, the right proportions with good topline, tail set and carriage, in great condition and really put everything into her performance. CC and BOB.

2 Stoddard's Ir Ch Spitewinter Aefond Kiss For Millvalley. A very attractive red bitch, really exceled in front, good head, length of neck and topline, not as good behind as first and not quite in the condition today of the class winner or the Junior bitch winner, lovely temperament and most attractive.

Judge Mrs L. Crawley
