Always a show with a garden party atmosphere. Although the hot and humid weather I believe affected many Aussies on the day. As a breed they can be challenging to show as some of the handlers today will probably agree. Part of the standard is to look for the characteristics and temperament of the breed and some of the dogs were not displaying that Aussie spirit. But overall the entries might be low at our shows, but we do have dogs entered with so many qualities that ensure there are good specimens for all to see.

1 Lawler & Nottinghams Bareve Top Hat N Tails DCC, BOB This dog was really on form and making sure I noticed him. Flat skull, and correctly proportioned head. Dark eye and pigmentation. Good bone and depth of chest. Coat of correct texture and a good colour. A strong and shapely neck as required. Showed and handled well. He moved out well both front and back and this gave him edge to win the class and eventually the BOB.

2 Lapthorne & Thompsons Jackaroo Jazzman Jenina. A well made red dog, with excellent bone and good spring of ribs. A harsh red coat and correct undercoat. Well carried tail. A masculine well proportioned head. He definitely had the strong and punishing jaw. Dark pigmentation, but I would have preferred a darker eye. He just didnt move out as well as the winner.

OD (2)

1 Mackins Bareve Third Degree. RDCC Another well proportioned red with a level topline. Carried tail OK on the move. One of the dogs that was unsettled and gave his handler a challenge. Correctly proportioned head with a slight stop and flat skull. Good bone and well bodied with a harsh coat and groomed to show his best points. He moved out OK.

2 Webbs Wilfnbell Nite Owl. An Aussie with a typical head and with dark pigmentation. Correct eye as well. The correct amount of bone and neat feet. Good length of neck and length of back. Coat texture correct and a good rich tan. Another unsettled dog, which did not move out quite as well as the winner.

PB (2,1)

1 Pinkertons Bareve Play with Fire. Best Puppy. A typical Aussie pup, showing all the characteristics that we enjoy with the pups. A very feminine and correctly proportioned head. Good tan and body coat breaking to silver. Dark pigmentation, Neat feet. Moved out well for a youngster and wanted me to notice her.

JB (2)

1 Pinkerton s Bareve Fire Cracker. Another youngster of 7 months. This red pup was very happy to be here. Proportioned head and good use of ears. On the move had a level topline and good tailset. A correct textured red coat. Pigmentation was good. Won as was a little more settled on the move.

2 Nottingham & Whincups Sureprimes Zabina (Imp Swe) This youngster really did make things tough for her handler. She was very unsettled, but she does have many good points. A feminine head with the correct proportions. She had thumbprints and a lovely light topknot. A good length of back as required for the breed. Good body coat of correct colour. Her movement and showmanship was not her forte today.

LB (3)

Three typical bitches in the class and it was really a tight decision between the placings.

1 Pinkertons Bareve Absolutely Fabulous RBCC She definitely shone as she moved around the ring. A level topline and good tailset. Correct amount of bone. A good colour and coat of correct texture. Feminine head with dark pigmentation. A close call for the CC.

2 Coxs Wyeafon Illusion in Ember at Petitpaws. A lovely feminine head and expression. Dark pigmentation. Rich tan. .She definitely was showing very well and made sure that I didnt miss her good points. She moved OK with a level topline.

OB (1)

1 Jones Ch Wyeafon Illusion in Blue. BCC. One look at her head and the standard requirement for a hard bitten look stared back. But with the feminine touch. Well shaped dark eyes. She had the proportions giving her the length of back with level topline. Correct tan and she moved so well. Giving her the edge on all the other bitches.
