BEDLINGTON JUDGE LKA 16
My thanks to my most efficient stewards, Jane and Judith, who kept the ring flowing, and to the exhibitors for their lovely entry. No bad feet, all mouths good, but a couple with dirty teeth, and several had nails which could have done with a trim. My biggest disappointment, though, was the number of small heads lacking length and strength of foreface, and movement in so many exhibits was untypical, with crossing and plaiting in front and going close behind. Only a handful of dogs moved with a light, lifting gait and some dogs were rather sluggish, obviously bored and weary after a long show season; a couple were carrying a little too much condition, spoiling their outlines and muscle tone was rather soft on far too many exhibits. That said, I was very pleased with my top winners, and delighted to learn that they are all descendants of my DCC winner.

1. Bouse's Beaconslight Admirable Guy
Confidently and sympathetically handled by his young handler, this lad is everything I would hope for to go on to top honours. In lovely crisp dark coat. Long head with strong muzzle, big white teeth, small dark eye and thin ears. Lovely length of neck leading into well-laid shoulders, deep flat ribs and good length of loin to give correct body proportions. As you'd expect at his age, he was a trifle soft in pastern and hocks will need to tighten as he matures, but his movement was light and springy in profile and he kept a good topline standing an on the move. To be hyper-critical, he doesn't need to grow much more, but he was one of the stars for me today. RCC & BPIB
2. McCourt's Bisbee Super Trooper
Another with good length of head and strong underjaw with big teeth. Rather upright in shoulder-blade, but nice return of upper arm. Shorter in loin than I like, and still needs to drop in chest. Hind angulation good. Movement OK

1. Bannister's Miteymidgets English Dream
Lovely body proportions gave a good outline, but smallish head and I'd prefer more length to his foreface. Nice thin ears and dark eye. Good length of neck, deep flat ribs and angulation correct at both ends, with no exaggeration. Well off for bone, and in good muscular condition, although he was a little soft in pastern on the move. Nice jacket of correct texture.

1. Worrall's Bluesmurf Semper Fidelis
Not in his best jacket, and determined not to help his handler, but a decent sort. Nice width across chest, and correct shoulder angulation resulting in true movement in front. Perhaps his ribcage could be longer to balance his outline, and his tail indicated his obvious enjoyment.
LD Lovely class of quality dogs, who could change places on another day.
1. Fletcher's Maevani One and Only
Beautifully balanced proportions, good front and correct hind angulation made for precise movement from all directions. Powerful head, strength of loin with correct arch, although appeared a little rounder in rib than I would ideally like. Won on his overall quality and first class muscle tone, and considered in the challenge.
2. Butler's Yarbach Federers Final
One of the best movers in the whole entry, light, lifting in profile and driving from his hocks. Good length to height, with deep flat ribs. Just lost out in head proportions to the winner.
3. Davies' Honeymist Blue Bols
OD
1. Kiernan's Ch Sharnor High I'm Viktor at Kierlander
Very glamorous dog, a real eye-catcher. Nice head with dark eye, sleepy expression. Good angulation front and rear, deep, flat ribs, but I'd like a little more length of loin. He seemed rather lethargic, and his handler's attempts to chivvy him resulted in him over-arching his back, spoiling his topline, although he presented a better outline when he relaxed. Won on movement over his litter brother, but a very close decision. Lost his sparkle in the challenge, but a worthy contender.
2. Pederson's Sharnor High Intensity
Preferred the outline of this dog standing, but his front is not quite so good as the winner, and he moves a little erratically behind at times. Nice head, with dark eye and correct mouth. Good depth to ribcage, flat ribs, and correct length of loin to balance his body proportions. Shown in lovely coat.
3. Mayers' Tcheria Causing Tchaos

1. Jones' Ch Pengerrig Iron Duke
I did this dog well as a relative youngster, and at 11 years he has lost none of his outstanding qualities. Can still show the youngsters a thing or two in respect of movement, true coming and going, with light, lifting action in profile. Beautiful head, long with depth and strength of muzzle, big white teeth and dark eye. Correct layback of shoulder and length of upper arm, deep flat ribs and good length of loin to give him a balanced outline. Good width and depth to chest, strong, well-boned forelegs giving the correct horseshoe front, sloping pasterns and good feet, and good hind angulation, not overdone in any way. Shown in hard, dark coat. Not surprised to learn he is the sire of RCC, as they share many of the same qualities. CC

1. Bishop's Plumeria's Sea Breeze
What a little sweetie, everything a 6-months puppy should be – cheeky, naughty and full of bounce. Very nice head, just hope she grows into her ears, good mouth and wicked expression. Nice body proportions, with depth to chest and good length of loin. Movement very erratic, as she was thoroughly enjoying herself, but for the few paces when she did settle down, she moved with a light gait. Coat still very soft and silky.
PB
1. Butler's Yarbach Christmas Cracker
Not really the balanced proportions I was looking for, but despite her rather short loin, she still moved with a light gait, springing up with drive from her hocks. Adequate angulation of shoulder, and good rear. Coat still rather soft. BPB

1. Mitchells' Miteymidgets Say Mama
Nice make and shape, won the class on her better topline, which she kept standing and on the move. Good head, small dark eye and perfect mouth. Deep flat ribs, adequate length of loin, nice angulation both ends. Movement a little loose in front. Coat OK
2. Bannister's Miteymidgets This Is Me
Litter sister to winner, same type and qualities but flattened on the move, and not quite the maturity of 1st.
3. Small's Travellersway Mischief
PGB
1. Mayers' Tcheria Say She's Tcheeky
Good head, long neck into correctly angulated front, nice width across chest. Deep, flat ribs, good length of ribcage and balanced loin. Hind angulation not overdone, well off for bone and moved well. Could lose a little body condition to advantage, as it softened her outline a little, but a very nice bitch and considered in the challenge.
2. Worrall's Bluesmurf Utrinque Paratus
Smaller bitch than 1st, with not quite the length of neck. Kept a nice shape standing and but flattened a little on the move.
3. Yearley's Lowbrook Little Mo
LB
1. Moore's Tcheria Tcheerleader at Devleigh
Lovely shape to this girl and shown in good dark, crisp coat. Correct body proportions, width across chest and depth to ribcage, balanced by nice length of loin, with correct muscular arch. Well laid shoulder and moderate hind angulation resulted in true action, although she was slightly upright in pastern. Another considered in the challenge.
2. Phillips' Jetsway Fleur of Rathsrigg
Smaller, finer bitch, good head with perfect mouth, small, dark eye and thin ears. Lovely proportions, good depth to ribcage and nice length of loin with correct arch. Shown in good coat, just lost out on front movement
3. Oxbury & Tonner's Miteymidgets Nations Unite at Jukenblu
OB
1. Davies' Ch Honeymist Posh Sugar
Correctly proportioned and well put together, but exaggerated trimming made her look overly curvaceous, and the hind furnishings distracted from her hind movement, making her appear wide behind. When she relaxed, she presented a much more balanced outline, with the correct arch over the loin. Good head with dark, sparkling eye, big white teeth. Moved well, true coming and going and lifting in profile with drive from her low hocks. A lovely bitch who deserves her top honours.
2. Yearley's Ch Gnejnabay Genegenie Gal at Lowbrook JW ShCM
Another of the Golden Oldies, but today she seemed slightly stiff in the hips so lacked a little drive. Beautiful outline standing and kept a good topline on the move, beautifully presented in good coat, and in good muscular condition as ever.
3. Mayers' Miteymidgets Universal at Tcheria
VB
1. Bannister's Ch Miteymidgets Hawkers Cove ShCM
Lovely for size and proportions, deep, flat ribs and good length of loin with correct muscular arch. Angulation sound front and rear, with nice width to chest, well boned legs and correct horseshoe front, strong sloping pasterns and low hocks. Moved well, true coming and going, light and lifting in profile. Dark coat of good texture. Well-handled and presented. RCC
2. Hewitt-Taylor's Mollora Eastern Dawn for Tobanie
Smaller bitch, another in good coat. Not quite the front of winner, softer in pastern and flattened slightly on the move, but another quality exhibit, a credit to her owner

1. Bannister's Ch Miteymidgets Look of Love ShCM
The star of the show for me, oozing with quality, lovely make and shape, shown in nice coat. Good for size, and with correct height to length proportions, another who kept a perfect topline standing and moving. Good head, dark eye, perfect mouth and thin ears, good length of neck into correctly angulated shoulders, nice width to chest and another with correct front. Deep ribcage, strong well-arched loin and correct hind angulation, precise, true movement won her CC & BOB
