BEDLINGTON JUDGE LEEDS 16
Bedlington Terriers.
It was an honour to be invited by the committee of Leeds Championship Dog Show to judge my first CC appointment at their prestigious show. I was delighted to have drawn an entry of such quality and would like to express my thanks to the exhibitors for allowing me to go over their dogs, especially as I am aware many had travelled some distance, on what was a hot and very busy early Friday morning. Lastly I would like to extend my gratitude to my 2 most helpful and efficient stewards, who looked after me most admirably.
I was looking for examples of the breed where moderation was very much in evidence, always bearing in mind the purpose which the Bedlington was originally bred for. I found no bad mouths, (a few with dirty teeth though!) and no cracked pads. I was delighted with my principal winners, especially my young BCC & BOB winner, what an absolute cracker, would have loved to taken her home!
PD (1)
1st Richardsons Highdene Hartley. What a super start to the day! 11 month old blue in decent coat. Excellent head of good length with plenty of foreface, very large teeth with good bite. Deep flat sides and good topline, nice moderate angulations with well muscled rear quarters. Moved steadily considered for RCC, just needs to mature a little, will watch his progress with interest. BP.
JD (2)
1st Mcnallys Conekesheved Ironstone Boy. Blue with good coat. Another youngster with powerful long head and punishing jaw. Well off for bone, deep flat sides and nice length of loin. Good legs and feet, with nice front assembly. Moved quite well.
2nd Davies Honeymist Blue Bols. Blue dog of good size. Paler softer coat than 1 and not quite the strength of head but excellent dentition. Good angulations , lovely tailset and carriage, much to like, preferred overall balance of 1.

LD (3 1abs)
1st Walters & Mitchells Tunman Ta Dah. Really liked this elegant lithe blue dog. Super long head with good bite, lovely small dark eye and thin ears. Good length of neck into sloping shoulders. No exaggerations giving a lovely outline. Movement was purposeful and very free flowing, a very nice young dog. Pleased to award him DCC.
2nd Offers Woolytop Theodore. Blue dog with good bone. Different type to 1 but well proportioned and in decent coat. A nice dog but lost his topline slightly on the move. Movement good but not the lightness of 1st.
OD (5)
1st Cummings CH Rocabec Definitely Maybe. Super sized blue dog . Lovely proportions and angulations. Well muscled with very good front, excellent depth of chest with plenty of heart room. Lovely tailset and tail carried well. Moved very well just preferred head of LD winner. RCC.
2nd Kiernans CH Sharnor High I’m Viktor at Kierlander. Different stamp of dog, not the length 1. Super head, eye and dentition. Coat of good colour and groomed to perfection. A worthy champion just preferred rear angulation of 1st.
3rd Rainsburys and Hamiltons Jetsway Chaser Sh CM.

1 Baldwin & Baldwins Woolytop Lucky Star. 9 year old blue dog. Lovely head with super foreface and very large teeth. Moderate Angulations with good bone and turn of stifle. Looked a little sluggish when moving, possibly down to the heat.
PB (2 1abs)
1st Richardsons Highdene Harmony. Litter sister to puppy dog. Feminine blue bitch of nice size and proportions. Movement a little loose in front but otherwise light and springy. Should have a bright future.
JB (2 1abs)
1st McNallys Conekesheved Kaldo Girl. This 13 month old blue bitch ticked so many boxes for me. Super for size and proportions. Femininity without compromising in strength of head and bone. Lovely dense coat of correct texture. Excellent head with plenty of foreface, small dark eye with alert expression. Good depth of brisket with plenty of heartroom, very fit with well muscled quarters. I was delight to hear she had made the final cut in the group. I feel sure she has a bright future. BCC & BOB.
PGB (3)
1st McNallys Conekesheved Kaldo Girl.
2nd Rainsburys & Hamiltons Jetsway Absolut Ice at Tangris. Different type to 1st but a lovely blue bitch with excellent dark blue coat. Deep flat ribs and good tuck up, nice moderate angulations front and rear. Nice hare feet on good legs. Small dark bright eye, good head with well placed fine ears. Moved with a light springy action. RCC.
3rd Halls Fralex Culibre Amber.
LB (3 1abs)
1st Morris Bluemazzu Ballerina. Well boned liver bitch with correct colour eyes. Excellent length of jaws with lovely large teeth. Deep, broad chest, could do with slightly more tuck up but good length of body. Moved quite well.
2nd Breezes Sharrpau Purple Blaze. Very close up to 1st, blue bitch of similar make and shape. Movement was ok but she lost her topline slightly.
OB (6 1abs)
1st Richardsons CH Highdene Hetti. Very feminine blue bitch. Nothing exaggerated , nice angulations with well let down hocks, muscletone was good. Nice depth of brisket, tuck up and topline. Head ok but would like a little more foreface. Moved very well. Maybe I would just like a little more of her to complete the picture.
2nd Davies CH Honeymist Posh Dreamz. Nice blue bitch of substance but not coarse in any way. Good height to length on this bitch with nice topline. Shown in profuse thick coat. Movement was good but could have had a bit more drive.
3rd Garbutts Aireview Classic Print.
VB (2 1abs)
1st Hewitt-Taylors Mollora Eastern Dawn for Tobanie. Lovely 10 year old dark blue bitch in excellent condition. Good height to length with deep brisket. Small dark eye, fine ears and good clean dentition. Well muscled and in great shape a credit to her owner. Just a bit reluctant on the move, such a shame.
