BEDLINGTON JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 25

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge at this very prestigious terrier show. Thank you for your hospitality. Also thank you to my wonderful stewards who kept the ring flowing flawlessly.
Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered under me. I really do appreciate your entry. Saying that, I really feel I need to state how worried I am about our lovely breed. There are so many newcomers who I feel really need to do breed seminars, even if you do not have any intention of judging. I do not fault judge, but feel I need to say that at this rate, I am extremely worried where we are going as a breed. There are so many dogs that have very shallow chests, small heads and no length of back.

Class 29, Special Beginners Dog or Bitch

1st: 69 POULTNEY, Mrs Anne – Ratzwell Bring Me Sunshine. 12 Months old. A little bit nervous in the ring at first. Lovely head, lovely dark eye, strong jaw, good shoulders and upper arm. Good length of back. He lost his top line on the move and needs a bit more rear angulation.

2nd: 40 BLAKEY, Mr Kevin – Little Bristle Charmer Belabrisl. A much smaller dog. Very dark pigment and good lovely coat. Ear set a little high. Dark eye. A little close in both the front and back on the move.

Class 30, Veteran Dog or Bitch

1st. 30 VILLOT, Mrs Laetitia – Fr. Lux, Port. Ch. Almasy’s My Name Is Bond. 9 years old liver dog. Shown in a lot of coat. Extremely well groomed. Correct linty coat with dark guard hairs. Great skin pigment. An extremely strong, square jaw. Lovely head with a strong foreface. Fantastic shoulders. Good angulation both front and back. Kept his top line on the move. Stood alone but a worthy first.

Class 33, Junior Dog

1st. 69 POULTNEY, Mrs Anne – Ratzwell Bring Me Sunshine. 12 Months old. A little bit nervous in the ring at first. Lovely head, and dark eye, strong jaw, good shoulders and upper arm. Good length of back. He lost his top line on the move and needs a bit more rear angulation.

2nd. 74 ROSS, Mr S – Mactufts Gentleman’s Game. 17 Months old. A much smaller dog. Good dark pigment. Dentition correct. Correct shoulders but needs more upper arm and lacks depth in chest. Good rear angulation.

Class 34, Post Graduate Dog

1st. 41 CRUMP, Mrs Louise & Mr Matthew – Yarbach Bowling Broad. Another smaller type dog. Head correct with good ear placement. Good colour and pigment. His top line while stacked did him no favours but improved on the move. Very high tail carriage on the move. Good rear angulation.

2nd. 79 SCOTT, Mrs Heather – Amifedele Hashtag Hipster. Good head. Dark pigment. Good dentition. Good neck. Top line correct. Unfortunately, this dog would not settle, giving his poor handler a hard time. Tail carried very high. A bit wide in the front. Stilted back movement.

Class 35, Limit Dog –

A nice class.

1st 68 PEDERSEN, Mr Richard and Mrs Trudie – Silverkinn Skyfall of Topaz. A beautiful dog of correct size and well balanced. Extremely well presented. Lovely dark blue linty coat. Good head with strong foreface and correct ear set. Lovely thin, fine ear leathers. Good strong square jaw. Correct dark eye. Fabulous angulation, both front and back. Great horseshoe front. Good deep chest. Kept his outline on the move. Moved extremely well on a loose lead! BOB

2nd. 56 LACEY, Miss J.W. Bowlingbrook Hummingbird. Another lovely dog. Super head and strong dark pigment. Shorter in neck. Great front and shoulders. Good length of upper arm. Good length of back. His rise was slightly forward of the loin. Front movement good but a bit close at the back.

Class 36, Open Dog.

1st 64 MCNALLY, Mr John and Mrs Lesley. Ch Conekesheved Out Of The Blue. Extremely well groomed. Lovely head. Good dentition. Dark pigmentation. Correct coat texture. Depth of chest ok. I felt he lack a bit of substance, but that should correct itself with maturity as he is still a young dog. Moved well.

2nd 46 HANES, Miss Myla Mae. Ch Janmark Man In the Middle JW. A lovely dog, up to size. Great head and ear placement. Extremely strong jaw. Good reach of neck. Fabulous depth of chest. Unfortunately flattened on the move. It was obvious that he just did not want to be there and let himself and his lovely handler down today.

Class 37, Minor Puppy Bitch – Both lovely baby puppies

1st 42 ELLIS, Mr Phillip and Mrs Lynn. Fralex Culibre Jacuetta. What a happy little bitch. Beautifully presented. Extremely feminine head. Gorgeous dark eye and pigment. Thin, fine leathers. Lovely coat for such a young girl. Good natural top line once left to stand naturally and kept on the move. I think that she will be the one to watch. A worthy winner.

2nd 48. HANES, Miss Myla Mae. Janmark Dame Dame Dame. Another lovely puppy. Bigger than first. Very strong head with fantastic dentition. Good angulation both front and back. Lovely coat. Tended to drop her head and neck on the move which spoilt her top line. I am sure that this will come with maturity. Another lovely puppy to watch in the future.

Class 38, Puppy Bitch

1st 49. HART, Mrs Sally and Mr Darran. Silverkinn Spice Girl. Extremely feminine. Lovely liver coat. Excellent angulation. Her chest still needs to come down. Good angulation. I think with maturity she will be a very nice bitch.

2nd 61. MARTIN IMPEY, Ms Helen. Silverkinn Craving Caneles. Another very feminine bitch with good pigmentation. Shorter in neck. Shoulders and upper arm correct. Good angulation both front and rear. Lacks depth of chest, and needs more weight on her.

Class 39, Junior Bitch

1st 49. HART, Mrs Sally and Mr Darran. Silverkinn Spice Girl. (Critique above)

2nd 44. GILLIES, Mrs J. Rhicullien Lady Charlotte. Pretty little bitch. Good pigmentation. Good dark eye. Lovely long neck. A little upright in the shoulder. Another one that needs a little bit more weight on her. At this stage a bit narrow in the front but feel that this will improve with maturity and substance. Kept the top line on the move.

Class 40, Post Graduate Bitch

1st 57. LONG, Miss Susan. Dunkeswell Pepper Dash. Good head. Lovely dark eye. Small, thin ears. Shoulders ok. Slightly lacking in upper arm. Deep chest. Length of neck ok. Good top line while stacked up flattened out on the move. Correct angulation.

2nd 38. ALDERS & BRIDGEMAN, Miss K and Mrs S. Yarbach Cute Cookie. Small and very feminine. Lovely dark pigment. Slightly short neck. Very good front shoulder and upper arm. Kept hunching herself up when stacked, but moved well. Good rear angulation. Lacks depth of chest.

Class 40, Limit Bitch

1st 67. THORNE, Mr Michael. Mollora Black Pearl. Very nice bitch with lovely dark jacket and pigment. Well presented. Extremely feminine. Good neck. Very good front. Nice ears. Good bite. Extremely deep chest, which is severely lacking in the breed. Lovely angulation and kept top line on the move. A little close in the rear.

2nd 60. MARTIN IMPEY, Ms Helen. Fallon Von Der Schwarzen Nebelburg Silverkinn (Imp) Another very feminine bitch. Oozing pigment. Very nice shoulders. Good top line. Unfortunately lacks depth of chest. Longer in body than first. Nice top line. Loved her day.

Class 42 Open Bitch –

This was a very strong class and I will critique the first 3 because of this. All the bitches that were placed were worthy on their own merit’s for top honours. Unfortunately, there can only be 1 winner and had to be very pedantic.

1st 81. VILLOT, Mrs Laetitia, Fr Ch Almasy’s Shooting Star. Very feminine liver bitch shown in loads of coat but once I got my hands on her she was a lovely type under all the hair. Groomed well. Excellent linty coat with just enough guard hairs. An excellent head and lovely expression. Excellent square jaw. Long neck sloping onto really good shoulders and upper arm. Lovely horseshoe front under the coat. Fantastic depth of chest down to the elbows. A little bit worried on the move when first starting off but did settle.

2nd 63. MCNALLY, Mr John & Mrs Lesley. Ch Conekesheved Too Shy JW. A very well groomed bitch in beautiful coat. Feminine head. Nice thin ears. Oozing pigmentation. Excellent front angulation. Shorter in neck than 1. Chest depth ok. Lovely top line. Good rear angulation. Moved well

3rd 65. MORRICE Mrs Sylvia. Mollora Pimento. A lovely little bitch. In excellent jacket. Very feminine. Excellent top line and rear angulation when stacked but a little close behind on the move. Moved very well keeping her top line.
