BEDLINGTON NATIONAL TERRIER 09 Bedlington Terriers Judge/s:Mrs B R Anderson-Illingsworth Dog CC : JONES' CH PENGERRIG IRON DUKE ShCM
BEDLINGTON JUDGE NAT TERRIER 09 Bedlington Terriers I had not judged the breed for some time & it was nice to see new exhibitors attracted to the breed. After a recent report in the canine press, I was pleasantly surprised to find some quality exhibits. Bitches overall had more depth, in type & quality & some of the decisions were close. Size within the breed is & always has been a problem. I did not judge too harshly those up to size. Type, balance & soundness are a must. Tailset & carriage is a concern, some are set in the K9 mode & it does detract from the overall outline when moving in profile. I did not find any cracked pads, & only one incorrect bite. MPD (2) 1 Hyde’s Gnejnabay Chokko Pops, liver, up to size, long well balanced head, strong jaw, well shaped eye, firm neck, enough length for balance, well laid shoulders. Needs to firm. Good for bone & feet, good balance to body, strong well angulated quarters, excellent well presented coat, thick & linty, & plenty of guard hairs. Moved with purpose with a light action. Wish he carried his tail lower; 2 Crump’sPengerrig Renown, the same age as winner but this blue is nowhere near as forward. Needs time & patience for him to develop. Good for type, good proportions, well balanced, quality head, good neck, well laid shoulders, body construction very good. Just needs to hold himself to better advantage. His movement should also improve with more assurance. Nicely presented. PD (2,1a) 1 Walshaw’s Janmark Blue Encounter, alone but what a prospect. Eye catching, smart outline, perfect presentation, typical head, good balance between skull & muzzle, excellent expression, long neck set into well laid shoulders, loin for firm front, well shaped brisket, good depth, correct length of loin for balance, well shaped croup, low set tail, strong well angulated quarters, very impressive on the move, true coming & going, covering the ground easily, handler at one with the dog. RCC. JD (2) 1 Cumming’s Honeymist Blue Flame at Rocabel, super blue of correct size, well balanced head, typical expression, well set shoulders, excellent front, good bone & feet, ribcage of good shape but needs to drop. Firm loin, of good length for balance, good shape to quarters, low set hocks, quality coat of good colour, presented in excellent order, moved soundly, well handled; 2 Tregett’s Sevray Rebus, blue, such a lovely head & expression. Front not as well made or as firm as 1. Good bone & feet, well made body & loin, firm quarters, well presented. Coat not at its best, needs more time to tighten in front. Moved well behind & in profile; 3 Hobb’s Linbarick King Amritha. ND (0). PGD (2) 1 Baldwin’s Wollytops Lucky Star, blue. Heavier than I prefer but won this class on his soundness. Very good head & expression, lengthy neck, very good front & shoulders, very good brisket both for length & depth, well made loin & croup, correct hind angulation, moved soundly & truly, well presented & handled; 2 Phillips’ Rathsrigg Ask Im, blue of the type & size I prefer but could not match the above in balance of outline. Excellent head & expression, typical front & shoulders, good through the brisket. Outline is spoilt as his loin & croup are too flat & his tailset too high. Quarters need to develop & muscle up. Hopefully time & maturity will help. In excellent coat & colour which was well presented. LD (6,1) 1 Hamilton’s Harrisclub Mister Moonray, blue of racy lines, outline gives an impression of strength & elegance. Head could be better for length but is well balanced, ear shape good & low set, shoulders good, well made front, brisket deep & well shaped, pleasing topline & croup, moderate angulation to quarters, moved with sound typical action. Coat could be better in texture but a decent colour. Well presented; 2 Caine’s Burmington And Me Too, liver of excellent type, a shade shorter in loin than above so not quite the elegance of outline of winner. Well balanced head, strong jaw, well set shoulders, neat front, good brisket, firm loin, well made quarters, moved well, well presented & handled; 3 Owen’s Bisbee Bobbie Dazzler. OD (8,1) 1 Jones’ Ch Pengerrig Iron Duke, excellent breed type & looks as though he could do the job he was bred for. Correct balance of strength & elegance, long well balanced head, strong jaw, large teeth, strong bite, elegant neck, well made brisket, firm loin of good length for balance, good underline, low set tail, good angulation to quarters which were firm & well muscled, excellent texture to coat & good colour, beautifully presented & handled, moved with purpose with typical action. I wish he held his tail at a lower angle. This told against him in the challenge for BOB but pleased to award him CC; 2 Ames’ Sharnor Blue Diamond, smaller than 1, I liked his balanced well shaped head, typical soft expression, very good shoulders & front, body shape well balanced good height to length ratio, balanced angulation to quarters, low set hocks, moved soundly, good colour to coat but texture could be better. Well presented. In the challenge for RCC did not do himself justice on the move; 3 Walshaw’s Janmark Alanora. MPB (2) 1 Yearley’s Genegenie Gal at Lowbrook, rarely does one see a puppy of this age so well balanced in every way & the carriage & deportment to show it to its best advantage. Her size, type & balance are all I would wish for. Feminine head & expression, perfect shoulders, excellent bone & feet, well developed brisket of correct shape, good length of loin, well shaped croup, low set tail, quarters have balanced angulation, low set hocks, moves superbly, holds topline & tail carriage correctly, presented to the minute & at one with her handler. Outstanding on the day & well deserved BP. CC, BOB & BPIS; 2 Thompson’s Jetsway Absolut Bling, 7 months quality blue, looked very immature compared to above. Lovely size, balanced head, feminine expression, lengthy neck, shoulder good but very slack, good typical body shape, good topline, good hind angulation, puppy coat very good for colour. Needs to gain confidence. PB (3) 1 G Gal at L; 2 Ames’ Sharnor Crystal Clean, 10 months blue, typical head & expression, good neck, well placed shoulders, good front, quality bone, well shaped ribs, good balance to loin. Hindquarters need more time to strengthen. Moved soundly, well presented & handled; 3 Holland & Bouse’s Beaconlight Sunset Rose. JB (8,1) 1 Lacey’s Bowungsbrook My Blue Heaven, nice size blue, beautiful head, feminine expression, clean neck set on to well placed shoulders, good front, good shape to ribs, firm well made loin, good croup & tailset, quarters well angulated, movement light & easy. Would like her more positive in front movement. Not in the best of coats but what she had was of good texture; 2 Hardy’s Miteymidgets Careleon Cove, blue, I liked this one, lovely well shaped head, feminine expression, lovely shoulders & front, her body construction & balance are good but this is only shown to best advantage on the move. When stacked her body shape looks too short to balance her height. Moved well; 3 Bannister’s Miteymidgets Hawkers Cove. NB (2,1) 1 King’s Linbarick Queen Chila at Frindleslane, liver, very immature in body but good for size, type & balance. Would improve with more training & this would help her confidence. Coat very good for texture & colour. PGB (8,1) 1 Walters & Mitchell’s Aireview Xmas Holly, lovely sized blue, excellent head, feminine expression, clean neck, well laid shoulders, correct front, good bone & feet, firm topline, correct angle to croup, well balanced quarters, moves very well with typical action, well presented handled; 2 Brook’s Rathsrigg Boudica, blue of excellent size, well balanced head & typical expression, good length of neck, good shoulders, firm front. A little bit too much hair has been taken off around the elbow which gives the appearance of being short on the foreleg which she is not. Looks really well on the move where she shows her excellent balance to body. Moves freely, well presented & handled; 3 Collins’ Mollora Little Rosie. LB (9) 1 Hurley’s Fralex Culbri Sapphire, blue, eyecatching if rather flamboyant presentation. Underneath is a very well balanced bitch, clean well shaped head, typical expression which is held high on her long elegant neck, well laid shoulders. A shade narrow in front. Good bone, well knuckled feet, height to length ratio is excellent, good topline & quarters, excellent mover in profile, fore & aft. Coat colour is good but texture could be better; 2 Owen’s Bisbee Bobby Dazzler, more the size & type I prefer & it was a close decision. Typical well balanced head, strong jaw, firm neck, shoulders & front very good, good depth & length to ribs, well shaped firm loin, good croup, firm well muscled quarters which she used well on the move, excellent presentation. Just wish she had been in better coat; 3 Collier’s Miteymidgets Cruiser. OB (8) 1 Ruffurze’s Mavrodaphe, blue & what a lovely youngster she is. Excellent type & quality, quality head which is long & well shaped, soft expression, firm clean neck, perfect shoulders & front, well made ribs, correct balance to loin, good shape to croup, low set tail, balanced angulation to quarters, movement sound & typical, very good texture to coat which was perfectly presented. Close up for CC, just did not hold her topline in the challenge as well as the puppy. RCC; 2 Cumming’s Ch Toffsett Tribeca, worthy ch, correct size blue, excellent well balanced head, soft expression, good neck & shoulders, excellent front, body has perfect balance, height to length ratio, excellent construction, firm topline, well made quarters, in firm condition, movement true & sound, well presented & handled; 3 Ames’ Mollora Frozen In Time at Sharnor. Breeder Bannister, very typical well matched group. B R ANDERSON-ILLINGSWORTH
