BEDLINGTON RICHMOND 10 Judge: Mrs J Cumming (Rocabec) BEDLINGTON JUDGE RICHMOND 10 BEDLINGTON TERRIER I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation and the exhibitors for their entry. I was pleased with my principal winners but left thinking that as a whole some of our breed specific characteristics are not always evident. In particular the distinctive topline both stacked and on the move which should show a lovely arch over the loin and be complimented by gracefully curved tails set on low and carried appropriately. V (2) 1. Winstanley’s Ratzwell Blue Ash. A well muscled 11 year old blue dog with a well pigmented linty coat. Masculine wedge shaped head with nice dark triangular appearing eyes. Well angulated flat, sloping shoulders, straight forequarters and a deep chest graduating into a good tuck up under the loin. Moved out well. 2. Honey’s Barnsnap Bryony. Small feminine blue bitch with a paler coat than 1. Good rear angulation, attractive head, deep chest, flat ribs and ample coat and furnishings. PD (1) 1. BP Ames’ Sharnor Faithful Falcon. Balanced and attractive 7 month old blue dog. Masculine head with dark eyes and well pigmented rims, low set ears, a long neck which tapered into a pleasing muscular body covered in a coat of good colour and correct texture. Horseshoe front and well constructed and muscled front and rear quarters put to good use on the move. Preferred the overall balance of the dog in the challenge for BP. PGD (3,1) 1. Harris’s Ratzwell Independence. Blue dog who was up to size but had the construction to allow him to move well both in front and behind on his well muscled quarters, tail low set and carried appropriately on the move. Pleasing head and ears. Straight forequarters, sloping pasterns and harefeet. 2. Colley’s Burmington Jack Bojangles. Smaller, finer made liver dog with a well proportioned head showing a gentle expression. Nice long neck leading into well placed flat shoulders and straight forequarters. Deep chest with a definite tuck up. OD (6,2) 1. BD & BOB Davies Ch Honeymist Miles High. Just my type of Bedlington a quality handsome dog with a dark pigmented linty body coat, good head and leg furnishings and presenting a very balanced picture. Particularly as he has the correct topline both stacked and on the move. Well angulated and constructed front and rear quarters, correctly proportioned, muscular body with deep chest, flat ribs and a very definite tuck up under the loin. Excellent tail set and carriage. Desirable Bedlington gait with that lovely roll when in full stride. 2. RBD Owen’s Bisbee Beachcomber. Another well balanced dog with a lovely wedge shaped head which he carried high. Well muscled and angulated front and rear quarters put to good use on the move. Nice sloping pasterns and well let down hocks, deep chest and good tuck up. Preferred overall proportions and tail carriage of 1 on the move. PB (2) 1. BPB Ames’ Sharnor Emerald Electra. Very pretty, graceful, feminine bitch with an attractive body coat and leg furnishings. Nice head with good horseshoe front, deep chest, flat ribs, nice topline with arch above the loin and good tuck up underneath. Well proportioned and angulated rear quarters. Moved well. 2. Winstanley’s Catchfraze What a Calamity. Not as feminine in appearance as 1 but a nice well constructed puppy. Big black nose on a well proportioned head, dark eye, well placed shoulders, straight forequarters, good hare feet, moved well just preferred the overall balance and topline of 1 particularly on the move. JB (4,1) 1. Harris’ Ratwell Dolly Mixture. Pleasing well balanced, blue bitch who moved well both in front and behind. Attractive body coat of good colour and linty texture. Strong, appealing pear shaped head with a gentle expression. 2. Colley’s Gnejnabay Maltese Magic. Finer liver bitch with a good head and eye, close fitting lips, nice deep chest and good forequarters. Preferred the rear movement of 1. PGB (6) 1. BB Owen’s Bisbee Belle Inni. A really well constructed, graceful, feminine blue bitch with lots to like as she hit lots of the breed specific characteristics. The most positive mover of the day striding out in front and really driving from behind whilst retaining that all important topline. Appealing head covered with a silky top-knot complimenting her good good body coat and leg furnishings. Correctly angulated fore and rear quarters. Nice long neck tapering into a muscular body with natural arch and good tuck up. Pushed dog hard for BOB. 2. Hurley’s Fralex Culibre Truffles. Really well coated, very feminine liver bitch who had a pleasing head which she carried high, and appealing eye forming a lovely gentle expression. Correctly angulated flat shoulders and rear quarters, good front, chest and topline. Preferred rear movement of 1. OB (6) 1. RBB Yearley’s Ch Gnejnabay Genegenie Gal at Lowbrook JW ShCM. A very pleasant dog to go over as she has many good qualities in particular her front and rear movement. Well proportioned feminine head with low set ears and a long tapering neck, horseshoe front, straight forelegs with good pasterns. Good body height to length ratio, good tailset and carriage. In the challenge for BB preferred the topline both stacked and on the move of the PGB. 2. Davies Honeymist Crazy Rhythm. A really nice blue bitch with a lot to like who unfortunately gave her handler a hard time. However, that did not detract from the fact that she is a very well constructed and balanced bitch with a brilliant topline both stacked and on the move. She has a great angulation on both her front and rear quarters and for me a correctly shaped muscular body which is covered in a lovely coat of desirable colour and texture. Excellent tail carriage.
