BEDLINGTON SKC MAY 13 Judge(s): MRS J CUMMINGS Bedlington Terriers I feel that since the last time I judged tailsets & carriage have improved. However I still have concerns that we are losing one of our most distinctive breed characterisitics which is that lovely graceful outline on the move. PD (1) 1 Fletcher’s Burmington Say I Do, liver dog with good pigmentation & a light hazel eye, lovely ears & correct shaped head, correct height to length ratio, well muscled quarters, nice sloping pasterns, good rear assembly. Moved well but had a tendency to flatten on the move. PGD (1) 1 Morris’ Honeymist Mellow Tone in Bluemazzu, masculine blue dog with lots to like, lovely dark eyes on a wedge shaped head, long neck leading correctly into well angulated shoulders & a deep chest. Flat ribs & a definite tuck up, coat was a nice colour & of good texture. Moved well & loved his tail carriage. LD (4) 1 Garbutt’s Highdene Hitman at Aireview, not the most glamorous of dogs but one that has to be handled to appreciate his qualities, maturing well with good head, eye, neck & front assembly which gives rise to a correct horseshoe front & really good movement. Deep chest & flat ribs & a very definite tuck of the underline & on the move retained this breed specific characteristic outline. Good tail carriage to complete a balanced profile when moving; 2 Davies’ Honeymist Sunny Delight, nice liver male who is going through his adolescent phase, much heavier coated with a lovely head & pleasing gentle expression, large brown nose & great teeth. Well placed shoulders & good assembly both front & rear. Unfortunately not showing himself to his best advantage which didn’t give a balanced profile & a true reflection of his movement. OD (4) 1 Kiernan & Liu’s Ch Bisbee Ikatcher at Kierlander, beautifully presented & handled blue dog in wonderful condition. Elegant & graceful with a lovely head & expression, nice dark eye, correctly set ears, good neck & front assembly with correct horseshoe front, deep chest, flat ribs, arch over the loin & definite tuck up of the underline. His coat was of a very pleasing colour & texture. Moved well in front, behind & in side profile however in the challenge for BOB preferred the tailset & carriage of the bitch. CC; 2 Walshaw’s Ch Janmark Blue Encounter, another dog with lots of qualities but one which was in good hard muscular condition. Created a very balanced profile both standing & on the move & carried his tail correctly. Lovely masculine head with dark eye & big black nose. Long tapering neck & well placed shoulders, deep chest with flat ribs & a topline which he retained on the move, good height to length ratio & long hare feet. RCC. PB (2) 1 Davies’ Honeymist Posh Dreamz, beautiful blue puppy who was just my type, oozed quality & style, gorgeous feminine head with long tapering jaw, large teeth & lovely big nostrils. Lovely neck & correct angulated shoulders, great horseshoe front & deep chest all covered in a lovely linty coat. Her back had that lovely natural arch over loin which she retained on the move, good driving rear movement & great tailset & carriage. Moved & handled well. Pushed hard for the CC, definitely one for the future. RCC & BP; 2 Lawson’s Aireview Blue Flame, blue girl who showed well, gentle expression, nice dark eye, close fitting lips & silky topknot. Good horseshoe front, sloping pasterns & well placed shoulders leading into a deep chest, nice topline, good rear angulation. JB (4) 1 Bannister’s Miteymidgets Look Of Love, feminine girl with a lovely blue jacket of dark colour & correct texture, lovely pear shaped head with dark eye & appealing expression, well set ears of desired shape & texture. Good front assembly & shoulders with sloping pasterns. Moved well from all angles; 2 Mayers’ Toolbox Helping Hand for Tcheria, another nice bitch with lovely dark coat covering a well balanced body, pretty feminine head with mild expression, lovely neck & shoulders, forequarters & sloping pasterns. Deep chested with flat ribs & a definite tuck up. Moved well with excellent tail carriage, just preferred the topline of 1. PGB (1) 1 Mayer’s Tcheria Flibbertigibbet, dark blue bitch with an excellent coat, silky topknot covering a correctly shaped head with dark eye & pleasant expression, long tapering neck, good depth of chest with definite tuck up of the underline. Good hindquarters & desirable height to length ratio. Moved well both coming & going. LB (3) 1 Tonner & Oxbury’s Rubsters Piper at Jukenblu, heavier set blue bitch but won on her overall balance on the move, well shaped head & eye, nice long neck, good front assembly & forequarters, deep chest & flat ribs with arch over the loin, in good muscular condition; 2 Mayer’s Tcheria Tiddlywink, smaller more feminine bitch with lovely head & expression, correctly set & carried ears, nice sloping pasterns, deep chest & very definite tuck up. Good rear assembly put to use on the move. OB (6) 1 Walshaw’s Janmark Misty Horizons, blue bitch who showed well, retained her topline, was balanced & displayed a desirable tail carriage on the move. A lithe, well muscled bitch of correctly bodily proportions with wedge shaped head, dark eye, large nostrils & tapering jaw. Good neck which complimented well placed shoulders, a horseshoe front & forequarters with sloping pasterns & long hare feet. Good depth of chest & curvature over the loin. Well angulated hindquarters & low set tail. CC & BOB; 2 Davies’ Honeymist Midnight Star, beautiful feminine bitch with loads to like but not on her best form. Graceful & elegant in outline with a lovely head & very pleasing expression. Good neck & shoulders, pleasing forequarters with sloping pasterns, good topline & tuck up, well assembled hindquarters with excellent tailset & carriage. Preferred the overall balance & movement of 1 on the move. JULIE CUMMING |
