BEDLINGTON JUDGE SKC MAY 17

Bedlington Terriers

My thanks to the SKC for inviting me to judge in place of Mr Fred Gadd who was indisposed through illness. I wish the big man a speedy recovery. We need people like Fred in our judging rings. Thanks to my very efficient stewards, Margaret Shaw & Sheona Fortune, for a job well done.

Although the entry was rather small, I did find some very nice specimens to go over. The overall impression was of good general conformation. Some long nails & high tail carriage were evident, which is not good when moving around the ring.

PD (2,1a)

1 Hewitt-Taylor’s Mollora Red Kite for Tobanie, well proportioned youngster. Lean & firmly muscled throughout. Handsome head, clean mouth & bite. Bright eyes, thin ears. Adequate length of neck flowing into good flat shoulders. Good depth in brisket. Correct forehand & slope of pasterns. Nicely turned stifles. Smoothly padded feet. Well textured coat. Moved confidently with typical gait & good topline. Neatly presented.

JD & PGD (0).

LD (2,1)

1 Richardson’s Highdene Hartley, smart blue with sound overall conformation. Good head, varminty dark eyes. Clean bite. Lengthy neck. Good flat shoulders with deep brisket, good tuck up & topline. Nicely muscled throughout & well boned. Correct front with good hare feet & smooth pads. Pasterns & stifles used well on the move. Well textured coat of good blue colour. Good tail carriage. Purposeful movement & well presented.

OD (7,1)

1 Davies’ Honeymist Blue Bols, yet another smart blue from this kennel. Correct for size. Good shape & length in head. Dreamy dark eyes. Neat, clean bite. Fine ears. Lengthy neck flowing into firm, flat shoulders. Flat, deep brisket. Well tuck up under loin. Good angulation, smooth pads. Good hare feet, pasterns & stifles, used well on the move. Excellent movement around the ring with correct tail carriage. Well deserved CC, the third I believe. BOB;

2 Bannister’s Miteymidgets English Dream, liked this one too. Slightly taller than 1. Lovely blue textured coat. Masculine head of good length. Nice expressive dark eyes, good clean bite, neat ears. Nice lengthy neck & topline. Good flat shoulders & deep brisket & correct front. Well angulated & nicely boned & muscled. Clean smooth pads. Very good movement & presentation. Close decision with 1. RCC, well done;

3 Kiernan’s Ch Sharnor High I’m Viktor at Kierlander, what a champion!

1 Hewitt-Taylor’s Mollora Eastern Dawn for Tobanie, what a surprise this lady is 11 years old. She was fit as a fiddle. Fantastic blue coat, good texture & colour. Good head & perfect set of teeth. Sparkling eyes. Very good angulation & topline. Well muscled throughout. Good legs with smooth, clean feet. She moved like a youngster & very happy to do so. Just a tad too small, but what a beauty. Made my day. BV.
