BORDER BELFAST 25 Judge: Mr D W Shields PD (2) 1 Darley’s Otterbobs Rocky at Cymrygold. Smart upstanding puppy of good make and shape. Pleasing head piece, short strong muzzle, dark eye and an alert expression. Clean front assembly and stands on good legs and feet. Firm topline that he holds on the move. Well muscled hindquarters. In good coat and fit condition throughout. Moved well on a good stride, BPD & BP. 2 Holmes Rockslade Rock’N’Roll. A real baby of just 6 months. Very out going and was not phased at all about his surroundings. His head is still developing but he has a good eye and expression with a typical outlook. Has good legs and feet, shapely body, a good pelt along with well developed quarters for his age. A little unsteady on the move today. PGD (2) 1 McPherson’s Brumberhill Beswick JW. One I have admired from the ringside and I was not disappointed when I got my hands on him. He is so well put together and just flows from head to tail when you handle him. Balanced head with that otter like appearance, well placed ears and good strength of under jaw. Excels in front, clean neck set in well placed shoulders, level back and the best of tails. Racy hindquarters and well let down hocks. Soundest of movers with good reach aand drive, CC & BOB and could not deny him a Group place later in the day when he put up a very polished performance in a quality line up. 2 Cummins Kewhaigh Innocent Man JW. Lots to like about him and was unlucky to meet the winner on such form on the day. Presents a very typical appearance. Good strength throughout but is not overdone in anyway. Pleasing head with a moderately broad flat skull, big teeth and the alertest of expressions. Good legs and feet, easily spanned and good strength to his quarters. Moved well. LD (1) 1 Cray’s Rockslade Risque Romance. Stood alone but a worthy winner. Liked his size and overall shape and balance. Put down in good order on the day in good jacket and firm hard condition. Liked his head, correct proportions and a good dark eye. Well made front assembly, just the right amount of bone and well padded feet. Good topline and tailset. Sound on the move. OD (6,2) 1 Higham’s Comberdown Likely Lad. Was very taken with this relatively young dog. A very typical Border of good breed type. Workmanlike but also has that showmanship to complete the picture. He handles so well on the table. Best of heads with a super expression. Excellent front, scores in neck and shoulders. His ribs are carried well back and has a short strong loin. Good underline and racy hindquarters. Moved well fore and aft on a good stride, Res.CC. 2 McPherson’s Ch.Brumberhill Bit O’Blarney. Another good one from this kennel and can understand why he has done all the winning he has done. Very typical throughout. Best of heads, dark eye and well placed ears. Pleasing reach of neck set in well placed shoulders. Correct ribbing and easily spanned. Level topline that he holds on the move along with a short carrot shaped tail. Well presented coat and a sound mover. This is just a personal preference but just preferred the outlook of the first and his kennel mate for top honours, but a very worthy Champion. 3 Rockslade Risque Romance. SBD (1) 1 Kewhaigh Innocent Man JW. PB (1) 1 Lowe & Miles Rockslade Rebel Rebel. Promising baby of just 6 months. Everything in the right place for her age. Good shape and built on clean lines. Pleasing feminine head, dark eye and a keen expression. Well made front and stands on good legs and feet. Firm body with a strong topline and a good tailset and carriage. Presented in good jacket. Once she settled moved well on a good stride, BPB. JB (2) 1 Lowndes’s Lienlo Lionflame. Cracking youngster, smart and workmanlike who takes your attention when she enters the ring. Good strength throughout with quality bone but nothing overdone and has a very feminine appearance. Best of heads, short strong muzzle and an alert expression. Another who scored in neck and shoulders. Good length of rib, racy hindquarters and well let down hocks. Pin wire coat and the soundest of movers, Res.CC. 2 Lawrence & Scrimgeour’s Comalegy Lady Of The House with Fiadhaich. Different stamp and style to the winner. Pleasing eye and expression, clean front and small well padded feet. Firm quarters and in good double coat of correct texture. Would just like a little more of her all round. NB (1) 1 Rockslade Rebel Rebel. GB (2) 1 Higham’s Comberdown Roisin Dubh. Another good one from this kennel. Typical in appearance and built on clean lines. Good head shape, well balanced, neat well placed ears and an alert expression. Clean over her neck and shoulders and narrow throughout and easily spanned. Strong level topline that she keeps on the move. Pleasing hindquarters. Good jacket, sound on the move. 2 Comalegy Lady Of The House with Fiadhaich. PGB (1) 1 Lawrence & Scrimgeour’s Comalegy The Countess of Fiadhaich. Typy bitch, pleasing size and of overall good make and shape. Dark eye and a good expression. Stands on good legs and feet. Firm back with a short carroty tail that she carries well. Pleasing width of quarters. Could be a little more positive on the move. OB (3,1) 1 Higham’s Comberdown Witch’s Promise. See she is the litter sister to the winner of OD and like her sibling has many positive breed points. Handy size and so well made throughout. Otter like head with a dark and expressive eye. Excellent neck and shoulders, straight front and best of feet. Easy to span, good pelt, strong loin and a good underline. Well angulated hindquarters with required racy appearance. Really comes into her own on the move with a ground covering stride with good reach and drive, CC. 2 Higham’s Comberdown The Emerald. Typical appearance and built on clean lines. Well angulated forequarters, straight narrow front along with good legs and feet. Pleasing body shape, good length of rib, easily spanned and good strength of quarters with a moderate bend of stifle. Lacking coat on the day. Sound mover but couldn’t match her kennel mates more positive stride. David Shields |
