BORDER BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 17 Judge: Mr Terence Tuck BEST OF BREED : 1585 JOHNSON Miss K J Karison Kosta BORDER JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 17 Border Terriers MPD (3) 1 Woolacott’s Tufterslodge Tea And Cake, a quality pup of very balanced proportions, & good conformation all through. Good head, good front & shoulders, & moved well. Just scored in angulation & topline over 2; 2 Ruth’s Bowencloud Busy Bee, another promising pup, also nicely ribbed back like the winner, narrow & with balanced overall proportions. Good head which should mature nicely, & in good coat; 3 Hollingsbee’s Smart Move to Otterwood. PD (6,2a) 1 Guvercin’s Baillieswells Glengyle at Glebeheath, a very smart pup, liked his size, very easily spanned, straight front, very good angulation both ends, super topline. Good coat & pelt, & moved well. BP; 2 Armstrong’s Lynsett Lewis, typy young dog with a good head, neck & body. Balanced proportions all through & again well angulated, making a really pleasing outline. Pipped by the winner on movement; 3 Johnson’s Karison Kustard. JD (5,1) 1 Matthews’ Tojamatt Moriarty, a nice sized youngster, typy, & well constructed all through. Liked his otter like head with typical expression, & has a good coat & pelt; 2 Coop’s Karison Red Rock, a similar looking typy Border with generally good conformation. Has a nice moderately strong head. Overall just a little heavier than the winner whose ribs I slightly preferred; 3 Fleming’s Cedarhill Ghost Writer. YD (3) 1 Baxter’s Mysulan Going Solo, an honest & typical Border with much to like about him. Moderately strong otter like head with a typical expression, lovely proportions, good front & shoulders, racy hindquarters, & quality construction all round. Good coat, & moved well; 2 Hughes & Kendrick’s Chatmoss Bullet Tooth Tony, another likeable Border with a typical head, pleasing outline & proportions. Beaten by winner on front movement & pelt; 3 Winsley & Holmes’ Davmar Levi. ND (2) 1 B Glengyle at G; 2 Hollingsbee’s Smart Move to Otterwood, a promising, typy 8 months pup, good overall proportions, nicely ribbed back, & with good conformation generally. Just pipped on coat & maturity. GD (2) 1 Fleming’s Cedarhill Ghost Writer, nice head, out of coat but won on his overall proportions & bodylines, being nicely ribbed back & with decent all round construction; 2 Duxbury’s Ridgebow Tracker, in good coat & condition, with a decent head. Generally sound construction though not so nicely ribbed back as the winner, whose overall angulation & bodylines I preferred. PGD (5,1) 1 Brewtser & Green’s Stowthorney Mr Tickle, a little on the large side, & not in great coat, but won this very varied class on overall quality & bodylines. Liked his head & he moved well; 2 Reeves & Hyslop’s Baywillow Blueprint, nice enough head & outline. A similar overall standard & quality to the winner though of a stronger build & not so racy in the hindquarters; 3 Speake’s Cedarhill Stargazer. LD (5,1) 1 Johnson’s Karison Kosta, excellent otter like head, moderately broad with a strong muzzle. Really eyecatching bodylines & conformation, straight front, good shoulders, nicely ribbed back, strong loins going into racy well angulated hindquarters. Moved really well. A little short of coat but the texture was there. CC & BOB; 2 Thomas’ Daluce King Of Emotion, another typy Border with a good head, balanced proportions, & quality construction all through. A nice size, easily spanned, a neat, honest Border; 3 Lorraine & Thomas’ Raleniro Second Time Around. OD (10,1) 1 Armstrong’s Ir/Int Ch Ploughdown Plato, loved his striking outline & overall proportions. Has a beautiful typy head, super topline & racy hindquarters, in excellent condition, with a good coat. I felt the CC winner had that extra overall refinement & flow. RCC; 2 Docwra’s Bandicoot Doc Martin, similar overall qualities to the winner. Liked his head, proportions & sound construction. An honest, typy Border who well deserved his place in this strong class; 3 Girling’s Benattivo Betfred. VD (1) 1 Spencer’s Ch Cobstoneway River Magic, a nice sized dog, full of quality throughout. Has a lovely typical Border head, good front & hind angulation, & he moved really well. MPB (10) 1 Ruth’s Bowencloud The Bee Charmer, a beautiful & promising pup. Lovely balanced proportions, full of quality from her otter like head right down to her well angulated & racy hind quarters. In good coat; 2 Horner’s Stineval Kordia, nice pup all through, liked her head & overall conformation. Just preferred the slightly longer bodylines & movement of the winner; 3 Clark’s Gameway China Girl. PB (6,1) A class of very varied sizes & builds. 1 Johnson’s Karison Krumble, moderately sized, narrow & very well constructed pup, lovely bodylines, typy head & expression, moved well; 2 Hollingsbee’s Fisherbloom Diaboli at Otterwood, a larger pup but with a lot to like about her, gained her place on quality of construction all through. Nice enough head, similar overall proportions to the winner, whose size I just preferred; 3 Roslin-Williams’ Mansergh Paint By Numbers. JB (12,4) 1 Fletcher’s Wadesleia Dear Prudence, a very eyecatching youngster just out of puppy. Beautiful outline from head through to well angulated hindquarters, super topline & tailset, in good coat. Should mature very nicely indeed; 2 Medhurst’s Grizzledale Forget Me Not, similar overall proportions & eyecatching outline to the winner, quality construction all through, straight front & racy hindquarters. Lovely typical head. Just pipped on coat; 3 Matthews’ Tojamatt Make Believe. YB (12,4) Very little to choose between these two. 1 Dusbury’s Ridgebow Rusty Rivet, nice size, well proportioned, super topline & hind angulation. Good head with a keen expression; 2 Girling’s Benattivo Fire Flower, another typy bitch, well proportioned & well constructed all through, very good front, lovely head & in good coat; 3 Horner’s Stineval Malizia. NB (6,2) 1 F Diaboli at O; 2 Wright’s Totherend Blue Jean Genie, decent head, nice overall proportions, generally well constructed all through, & moved well. Preferred the slightly narrower body & racy hind quarters of the winner; 3 Roslin-Williams’ Mansergh Brush And Pallette. GB (3,1) 1 Pickering’s Picer Flora Mcivor, a very typical Border all round, with a beautiful otter like head, lovely proportions & overall conformation. Scored over 2 in hind angulation & topline; 2 Medhurst’s La Senza, another well proportioned & typy bitch who could have held her own in a larger class. Generally well made all through, just would have liked a little more hind angulation. PGB (11,2) 1 Brannan & Kelly’s Brankell Double Or Quits, a nice sized bitch, with a beautiful otter like head & strong muzzle. Lovely balanced proportions, nothing exaggerated, just substance & quality construction all through. Classy outline that flowed from head & neck through to her racy hindquarters. In good coat & moving well. CC; 2 Hollingsbee’s Otterwood Domina Candesca, a similar outline to the winner, shared her lovely proportions & flowing quality construction. Also very sound & well angulated front & rear. Good head, just couldn’t match the expression of the winner; 3 Stevens’ Cobstoneway Love Story. LB (10,3) 1 James & Render’s Chorbeck Gossip Girl at Blackmine, nice sized, easily spanned bitch with a very smart outline. Good head, with a keen expression. Beautiful straight front & narrow body, well proportioned, clean shoulders & very nicely angulated throughout, in good coat & condition. RCC; 2 Baxter’s Sulan Strictly Blues Dancin’, a very close second. Lovely balanced proportions, & well put together from her typy head through to her well angulated & racy hindquarters, making an eyecatching outline. Just preferred the front of winner; 3 Parkes’ Clevepark Dazzle. OB (11,3) 1 Spencer’s Ploughdown Persephone, typy otter like head, with a strong muzzle. An honest Border all round, with lovely unexaggerated proportions, nicely ribbed back, & well put together all through. Good straight front, & well angulated hindquarters. In good coat & condition; 2 Foulger’s Byrewick Valentine, another honest & typy Border, similar to winner in overall make & shape. Decent head & well put together all through. Excellent blue coat. Couldn’t quite match the excellent front & head of the winner; 3 Bladen’s Ch Emblehope Dance And Dance. VB (3) 1 Baxter’s Am/Can/Int Ch Sulan Fancy That, a very classy Border, beautiful to handle. Lovely typical head, really well constructed & balanced all through. Straight front, good shoulders, nicely ribbed back, with well angulated racy hind quarters. Thick pelt & proper double coat. BV; 2 Stevens’ Cobstoneway Bayou Sunrise, a decent all round Border with a good outline, pleasing proportions, & racy hindquarters. Not so neat in shoulders as winner; 3 Williams’ Hollowmoor Casilva.
