BORDER BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 23 Judge: Brigitte Belin Bernaudin (France) BORDER JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 23 Entries: 126 dogs making 142 entries. First, I thank the committee for the invitation to judge this prestigious show. Thanks to my stewards for doing a super job and keeping my judging running smoothly. It was a real honour and privilege as fa oreign judge and breeder to have the opportunity of this 1st appointment to give CCs in my breed, and thanks to the exhibitors for allowing me to go over so many good Borders. Being able in my country to work my dogs, I was looking for the right conformation as aske for in the standard, dogs able to do their original work underground and was happy many could do so. 1 Ravenside Play The Game Kersfell (Sneddon). Nice young dog, nice head that needs a bit more time to finish, strong scissor bite, straight front, well angulated shoulders, good ribs well laid back and spannable, racy hindquarters, will need a little bit more ring training. 2 Tyneotter Bolt From The Blue (Anderson) 1 Manorcroft Johan at Brumberhill (Mcpherson). Caught my eye when entering the ring. Very nice typical head with flat skull, strong muzzle, strong bite. Excellent reach of neck, well placed shoulder. Straight front and good feet.. Nice length of body with ribs well back, narrow all through. Excellent topline which is perfectly kept on the move. Excellent tail set and well carried on the move. Racy ans well muscled hindquarters. Super pelt and coat. On the move excellent reach in front and the best drive of the class. 2 Redesholt Han Solo (McKay). Nice head with typical expression, strong bite. Correct lay of shoulder. Spannable, correct length of body and ribs shape. Good tail set well carried on the move. Excellent pelt and coat. Moves well. 1 Glebeheath Oh Boy JW (Guvercin). Nice masculine dog, typical head with right expression and well setted ears, strong muzzle and good strong bite, excellent reach of neck and well placed shoulders. Straight front. Good length of body with strong loins Good topline kept on the move. Strong tail well carried. Racy hindquarters. Moves well with good reach and drive, 2 Alcumlow Painter Man On Hobhill (Pickerin) Nice grizzle, up to size for me but of very nice general conformation. Nice masculine head with strong muzzle and bite. Nice expression with dark eyes, well set ears. Narrow all through, Balanced angulations front and rear, spannable, excellent pelt and coat, level topline kept on the move. Moves well. 1 Alcumlow Painter Man On Hobhill ( Pickerin) Nice grizzle, up to size for me but of very nice general conformation. Nice masculine head with strong muzzle and bite. Nice expression with dark eyes, well set ears. Typical head with good muzzle strength and strong bite. Good reach of neck with correct shoulder placement. Well ribbed back.Spannable Good topline and tail set kept on the move. Good pelt and harsh coat. Straight front and tight feet. Moves well with correct reach and drive. 2 Tulawyn Garretson by Onthill (Ramus) Grizzle moderate size. Masculine head. Good neck in well placed shoulders, good ribs and level topline with good underline. Well angulated hindquarters. Good tight feet. Well muscled. Excellent loose pelt and harsh coat. Moved out well. 1 Duke of York Fiery Lucifer To Stowthorney (Brewst & Green). Blue and Tan, very typey. Narrow all through. Good head and bite. Good reach of neck in well placed shoulders. Straight and narrow front. Ribs well back and easily spannable. Very nice length of body. Excellent topline and underline. Well setted tail, well carried on the move. Lovely profile. Like his free movement a lot with reach and drive, covering his ground. Just build to do his job. 2 Benattivo Charlie Brown ( Girling) Grizzle of good size and bone. Well balanced. Nice masculine head with right expression, strong muzzle and bite. Nice reach of neck and well placed shoulders. Spannable. Firm topline. Well angulated behind and well muscled. Nice tail well set and carried. Another good mover. 1 Barkanellie Blackadder ( Taylor) Correct size and bone. Nice otter head with flat skull and good strength of muzzle. Straight front. Good neck and shoulders placement. Spannable with good shape of ribs. Firm topline, carroty tail. 2 Hartswelin Veritas With Oatberry (Tuffin). Good sized dog with typical head, good expression with dark eye, correct bite. Good narrow front. Good ribs, spannable, correct topline with good tail set. Good coat and pelt Moves well from the side. 1 CH Yorkpiece Fiery Lucifer (Lee) Blue and tan of the best color with the right amount of ticking. Took my eyes entering the ring with his happy and “look at me” attitude. Lovely typey outline. Masculine head with well setted ears and typical expression. Excellent reach of neck flowing into a firm and straight topline. Narrow all through, easily spannable with ribs carried well back and firm loins. Nice underline. The right length of body. Very balanced in front and rear angulations which he uses so efficiently on the move covering his ground soundly without effort. Excellent harsh coat and pelt. Presented in perfect fit condition. A dog I would be pleased to see at work. Was pleased to award him CC 2 CH Otterbobs Tolson (Gilpin) Nice Grizzle of excellent size and bone. Good head with strong muzzle and strong bite. Dark eyes and nice expression. Ecellent reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Good ribs carried well back, easily spannable, excellent topline kept on the move with well setted and carried tail .Good underline. Well muscled and racy hindquarters. Moves well with reach and drive. Presented in top coat condition. 1 Ch Brumberhill Back T’ Future JW ShCM (Mcpherson) 8 years old Blue and Tan with style and presence. Well balanced all through. Masculine head with dark eyes and typical expression. Strong muzzle and bite. Super reach of neck and lay of shoulders. Nicely ribbed with the right length of body and holding a level topline. Nice setted tail well carried on the move. Typical underline. Balanced angulated front and rear. Excellent harsh coat and loose pelt. He moves free and sound with the best of reach and drive, covering his ground without effort. Could easily imagine him on the hunt. Was please to award him RCC 2 Mysulan Going Solo JW (Baxter) Blue and Tan, with a nice shapped head and nice dark eyes, strong muzzle and neat ears. Nice neck and well laid shoulders. Narrow all though with straight front and tight feet. Easily spannable, ribs well back and good loins. Good lenght of body with level topline. Nice tail well setted and carried on the move. Racy well andulagted hindquarters. Good harsh coat and loose pelt. Easy and free 1 Onziemehurst Milly Earhart (Nettle) A very attractive youngster. Lovely conformation. Feminine head with flat skull, dark eyes, well setted ears and typical expression.Excellent bite. Nice reach of neck and lay back of shoulders. Nice narrow straight front. Good length of body with correct ribs well back, good topline and underline. Easily spannable. Racy hindquarters and neat feet. Moves well covering the ground without effort. 2 Ragatam Isla At Louajak (Gwilliam) Nice otter head with dark eyes and well setted ears. Good bite. Correct length of neck. Clean shoulders, easily spannable. Balanced in front and rear angulations. Racy hindquarters. Moves well 1 Thistlestone Winter’s Gold (May & Whisker) Nice bitch with typical femine head, dark eyes and typical expression, well setted ears. Good reach of neck fitting into nice shoulders; Straight front and well ribbed back, easily spannable. Good length of body and level topline. Good underline. Neat feet. Well angulated hindquarters. Excellent coat and pelt. Moves well with good reach and drive. 2 Otterbobs Beatrix (Gilpin) Grizzle bitch, strong but feminine head, good flat skull, strong muzzle and bite; correct neck and well placed shoulders. Good length of ribcage and loins. Spannable. Good bone, straight front. Good hindquarters. Excellent coat and pelt. Moves well but preferred drive of 1st. 1 Stowthorney These Days ( Brewster & Green) Grizzle bitch who cached my eyes entering the ring with her.lovely outline and presence, even if on the tall side. Femine otterhead with flat skull and strong muzzle and bite. Excellent reach of neck flowing into well laid shouders. Nice straight front, narrow all though. Spannable. Right length of body with nice level topline kept on the move and strong loins. Tail well setted and well carried on the move. Excellent coat and pelt. Very balanced angulations front and rear, which are so evident on the move with ample reach and drive. Another one fit for her job. Was pleased to award her RBCC. 2 Onziemehurst Milly Earhart (Nettle) Not as mature as 1st 1 Onthill Dolly Daydream (Ramus) Grizzle bitch of good type. All in moderation. Nice feminine head with good flat skull, good reach of neck and good lay back of shoulders. Straight front and good ribs, spannable. Good length of body and loins. Good tail set. Excellent harsh coat and loose pelt. Balanced angulations front and rear. Moves well with good reach and drive 2n Picer Mirabel Ostler (Pickering) Blue and tan bitch of heavier type than 1st. Strong head, punishing jaw and well setted and carried ears. Strong neck flowing into well aid shoulders. Deeper and wider in chest than 1st but spannable.Nice level topline kept on the move. Well setted and carried tail. Balanced in front and rear angulations. Very thick loos pelt and harsh coat. Moves well coming and going. 1 Bohamer York’ist Celeste By Tythrop ( Lee) Another one that catched my eyes entering the ring with her stunning outline. Of best type and size, all in moderation and style. Feminine head with the right expression. Beautifull reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders and a right length of upper arm, which is obvious on the move conferring her the best front reach. Straight front and narrow all through. Right length of body with ribs carried well back and strong loins. A level topline perfectly kept on the move and typical tail carriage. Just right amount of bone. Perfectly balanced angulations front and rear. Racy well muscled hindquarters. Superb blue and tan harsh coat with right amount of ticking and loose pelt. She impressed even more when started moving, covering her ground without any effort. Another one I could imagine with the hunt. Was so pleased to award her BCC and BOB and earing later she finished her title today. 2 Tojamatt Lacemaker (Matthews) Another very nice bitch. Right in size and type. Nice feminine head with good flat skull, dark eyes and well setted ears. Moderate and narrow all through. Good reach of neck and well laid shoulders. Easily spannable and ribs carried well back, level firm topline and good loins, nice tail set well carried on the move. Right amount of bone. Balances angulations front and rear. Neat feet. Moves freely coming and going. 1 Barkanellie Flashheart (Taylor) Nice bitch on the smaller side. Feminine head with flat skull, well placed ears and good expression.Correct reach of neck and good layback of shoulders. Straight narrow front. Easily spannable but would prefer a slightly longer ribcage. Good angulations behind. Moved well with correct reach and drive. Good harsh coat and loose pelt. 2 Borderrush Clementine For Ardenholm (Swain) Grizzle bitch of good type and size. Nice otter head. Good neck and shoulders placement. Good length of body and topline. Balanced angulations front and rear. Excellent harsh double coat and loose pelt. Moved well but not as freely as 1st. 1 Knowbury Dream Of Dreams (Nightingale) Grizzle bitch with a very nice otter head and strong foreface. Good reach of neck and well laid back shoulders. Nice narrow front and good length of ribcage.strong loins. Easily spannable. Level topline and good underline. Nice harsh double coat and pelt. Balanced in front and rear. Moved effortless. 2 Arunmere Annie Oakley (MHughes) Bitch of good size and type, good head with typical expression, strong muzzle and bite.Correct neck and shoulder placement. Good ribcage but a bit long in loins for me. Easily spannable. Good topline standing but not always kept on the move. Moved well coming and going with enough reach. 1 - Rockslade Russian Roulette JW ( Lowe & Miles) Another pleasing bitch of good size and type. Very nice feminine head and typical expression.Nice reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Nice straight front. Ribs well back, easily spannable. level firm topline kept on the move, tail well set and carried. Very balanced angulations front and rear.Excellent harsh coat and pelt. A free and sound mover 2 Mysulan Rhapsody In Blue (Baxter) Another one of good type and size, blue and tan with excellent coat and pelt. Good reach of neck flowing into well laid back shoulders. Nice feminine head with neat ears. Good ribcage, easily spannable. Nice straight front with right amount of bone and tight feet. Good topline and underline. Nice carotty tail, well carried on the move. Moved well but not as free as 1st. 1 Borderxpress Echo Beach (Wright) A strong but feminine bitch with nice outline. Good otter head with flat skull and strong muzzle, punishing jaw. Straight and narrow front. Good neck flowing into well laid back shoulders. Ribs well back and spannable, strong loins. Good topline and underline. Balanced angulations front and rear.Excellent harsh double coat and loose pelt. Good mover 2 Rockslade Ravishing (Harris) Grizzle bitch of good type and size. Nice otter head with stron muzzle and good bite. Neat ears, dark eyes with right expression. Good neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Narrow straight front, easily spannable with well shaped ribs.Good op and underline. Racy well muscled hindquarters. Sound and effortless 1 Tojamatt Ann Brandreth ( Matthews) A very nice and typey bitch all in moderation. Nice otter head complemented by dark eyes, neat ears well placed and typical expression. Very good reach of neck, well placed shoulders. Nice narrow straight front , enough bone and tight feet. Ribs well back aand spannable. Excellent topline kept on the move and typical underline. Well muscled hindquarters.Typical tail carriage. Balanced angulations front and rear; moving freely, covering her ground without effort. Excellent coat and pelt. 2 Tarkaswell Sea The Stars (Sansom) Grizzle bitch, a bit taller than 1st. Very nice general outine. Good otter head with dark eyes and punishing jaw. Nice reach of neck and well placed shoulders. Nice topline kept on the move. Typical tail carriage. Nice shaped ribcage and spannable. Correct hindquarters. Another sound mover covering her ground effortless. 1 CH Smalesmouth Skylark (Roberts) She catched my eyes entering the ring by her sound, effortless active movement. A very typey bitch narrow all trhough. Nice feminine head, nothing overdone with the right expressions. Good reach of neck and super shoulders placement. Very firm topline kept on the move with typical tail carriage. A very nice length of body with.excellent ribs well back and easily spannable. Balanced front and rear angulations Racy muscled hindquarters. Excellent coat and the best of pelt. Se moved with a exceptional drive, could imagine her easily on a day working. Awarded her Best Veteran, but it was a difficult task as both veteran were of the best quality and in super condition. 2 Totherend Tickety Blue ( Wright) Blue and tan bitch a lovely type. Feminine head with strong bite. Good reach of neck and well placed shoulders. Ribs well back and easily spannable. Good length of body and strong loins. Balanced front ans rear angulations. Excellent coat and pelt. She moved with good drive but not as freely as 1st.
