My thanks to Blackpool & District Canine Society for the invitation to judge BorderTerriers, and thank you to my two very efficient stewards who kept things moving along in the ring. Sadly today, rudeness to the stewards and a lack of sportsmanship seem to be on the increase.

Minor Puppy - Dog Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st -Foxwater Captain Scarlet (Mrs J Spence) Red grizzle dog in good harsh coat. Pleasing in head but would like to have seen a little more body on him at this stage. Moved out well.

2nd -Ellenfoot Festive Arrival (Mr A Harker) Dark grizzle dog in good coat and condition. Nice dark eye and good expression but high tailset spoiled the overall picture.

Puppy - Dog Entries: 4 Absentees: 0

1st -Ravenside Churchill (Mr M Lowry) 9month grizzle dog with super coat, good topline and tailset. Enough bone, neat feet. Really liked his head and expression. Moved out with purpose. I see a good future for him. Best Puppy and Reserve DCC.

2nd -Beaconpike Dionysus (Mr S & Mrs K Golding) Another nice grizzle dog in good coat and condition, with a pleasing eye and expression, but just preferred the overall picture of the winner.

3rd -Otterbobs Brimmer (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)

Junior - Dog Entries: 3 Absentees: 1

1st -Micustins Little Tiger (Mr M McNicholas) Nice size of dog with good topline and tailset. Narrow ribs and a thick pelt. Neat, cat-like feet and moved out well.

2nd -The Joker Let's Rock and Roll to Fevstone (Mrs D Bullen) Just a baby at 8.5 months. He needs time to ‘get it together.’ No coat and not his day today.

Yearling - Dog Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1st -Kevrah Orion Seeking Orangebox (Mr M & Mrs T Anscombe) Nicely bodied dog with good head and expression. Lovely harsh coat and thick pelt. Enough bone and well muscled hind quarters. Moved out well

2nd -Knowecrag Tam O'shanter By Irton (Mr D & Mrs A Fryer) Blue and tan dog with a very thick , harsh coat which made him look large. Just preferred the front movement of the winner.

Graduate - Dog Entries: 4 Absentees: 1

1st -Weststar Lone Ranger at Ardenholm (Mrs C Swain) Another harsh coated blue and tan with a thick pelt. Pleasing head with nice expression. Good dentition. Good topline and tailset.

2nd -Otterpaws Mountain High (Mr & Mrs G Birrel) Nice size of grizzle dog – again in decent coat. Good head and expression. Preferred the movement of the winner.

3rd -Farlacroft My Friend Walter (Mr M Wait)

Post Graduate - Dog Entries: 10 Absentees: 2

1st -Bevmar Bartholomew (Mr B A Bassett) Nice red grizzle dog with a good head and bite. Good reach of neck into good lay of shoulder, level topline and tailset. Ample bone and neat feet. Moved out well.

2nd -Kentixen Mint Imperial At Roseghyll (Mrs A Johnson) Grizzle dog in good coat and condition. Moved out well. Preferred the head of the winner

3rd -Prince Rainbow Blue (Miss R Bevan)

Res -Borderstream Zodiak (Mr & Mrs S Ward)

VHC -Billyboy Blue At Chevinor (Mrs H A Metcalfe)

1st -Otterbobs Tolson (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin) Nicely balanced dog in super coat; good head and reach of neck. Level topline and well angulated quarters. Moved out with drive.

2nd -Keebank Just In Time (Mrs L Keeffe) Very similar to 1st; in good coat and condition, lovely narrow front with enough bone.

3rd -Achouffe McKay's Fable of Redesholt (Mrs S McKay)

Res -Bordergold Rudolph At Beckholm (Mrs A Sutton)

Open - Dog Entries: 3 Absentees: 0

1st -Yorkpiece Fiery Lucifer (Mrs J L Lee) Eye catching dog in perfect blue and tan coat with super ticking throughout. Lovely masculine head and expression. Good bone. Good topline and tailset. Well angulated quarters. He moved out well in all directions. No hesitation in awarding him DCC (his third), and BoB.

2nd -Howthwaite in Voice (Mr R J & Mrs E A Barrett) Grizzle dog with pleasing head and expression. Correct bite; Nice reach of neck , clean shoulders, level topline and tailset. Moved out positively.

3rd -Otterpaws Muninn (Mr & Mrs G Birrel)

Veteran - Dog Entries: 4 Absentees: 0

1st -Blue Duke Of Cumbria At Roseghyll (Mrs A Johnson) 9.5 year old male who has kept a nice slim body shape and looked very fit for his age. Liked his head and expression. In good harsh jacket moved out round the ring confidently and with drive.

2nd -Dandyhow Friendly Fire at Chevinor ShCM ShCEx (Mrs H A Metcalfe) 7.5 years old. Another with very good body shape and spannable. Good coat and pelt. Neat feet and moved out with plenty of drive.

3rd -Glebeheath Smash N'grab At Jordith (Mrs L.M.I & Mr A.M. Jordan-Smith)

Res -Thorneyburn Peace Pipe at Wreighaugh (Mr M & Mrs A J Carr)

Minor Puppy - Bitch Entries: 9 Absentees: 1

1st -Rockslade Ravishing (Miss G Lowe & Mr T Miles) Six month old baby – sound puppy, evenly balanced with a hard coat, nice head and expression and moved out well.

2nd -Foxwater Destiny Angel at Chorbeck (Mrs H Haughton) Another 6month old baby, slightly smaller in build to the winner. Again, another nice pup in overall good condition.

3rd -Picer Bess Pool (Mr G & Mrs S Pickering)

Res -Rockslade Russian Roulette (Miss G Lowe & Mr T Miles)

VHC -Tarkaswell Highland Fling (Mrs C E Sansom)

1st -Foxfactor Happy Go Lucky (Mrs K D Stockley) Nine month old, lovely young bitch. Super head, nice eye and ear set; Good bite. Lovely reach of neck, level topline and tailset. Happy on the move. Lots to like about her. BPB.

2nd -Otterholme Underground (Ms T Jones) Ten month old puppy. Another nice youngster – just preferred the overall picture of the winner, but two promising bitches.

3rd -Etterbern Mrs Bucket (Mr G Ingram)

Junior - Bitch Entries: 5 Absentees: 2

1st -Emblehope Let's Dance At Redesholt (Mrs S McKay) Blue and tan bitch with plenty of ticking in her harsh coat. Good head, eyes, bite and ear placement. Neat straight front. Moved out well on neat feet.

2nd -Mysulan Easy Going With Fryerfold (Mrs S J Stephenson) Blue and tan, slightly finer in bone than 1st place. Good head and expression. Level topline to tailset. Good movement. Nice type of bitch.

3rd -Alderseadale Spirit Of Hope (Mr D M & Mrs N J Chandler)

Yearling - Bitch Entries: 12 Absentees: 2

1st -Picer Isabel Derby (Mr G & Mrs S Pickering) Well balanced bitch of good proportions. Nice head, eye and bite. Harsh jacket on a thick pelt. Good on the move.

2nd -Orangebox A New Hope At Itsaso (Miss L Tanton-Joy) Grizzle bitch. Another in good coat and condition. Good head and expression. Moved out well.

3rd -Howthwaite's Resolution (Mr R J & Mrs E A Barrett)

VHC -Cedarhill Dolce Latte (Mrs D McLeod)

Graduate - Bitch Entries: 6 Absentees: 2

1st -Foxfactor Happy Go Lucky (Mrs K D Stockley) Winner of Puppy Bitch. Acquitted herself well among her elders here.

2nd -Fieldsearch Forward Cry (Mr A Harker) Nice type of bitch with good bone and a good front. Pleasing head but short of coat today.

3rd -Tarkaswell Sea The Stars (Mrs C E Sansom)

Res -Lynsett Miss Pickle (Miss S Ellis)

Post Graduate - Bitch Entries: 5 Absentees: 2

1st -Aikshaw Valley Firth (Mr L Jackson) Grizzle bitch with good body lines evenly proportioned and a good coat. Pleasing head and expression, bite correct. Nice topline and tailset completed the picture.

2nd -Goxfell Reivers Rose (Mrs J Stamp & Mr D Joyce) Blue and tan bitch, more substantial in body. Good coat , nice varminty expression, correct bite and she moved OK.

Limit - Bitch Entries: 8 Absentees: 1

1st -Glebeheath Button It (Mrs J Guvercin) Quality bitch. Beautiful head and reach of neck. Great muscle tone and very sound on the move. Level topline and well set on tail. Absolute picture in profile. No hesitation in awarding her the BCC – her 3rd.

2nd -Carrock Curiosity JW (Ms J Fawcett) Another lovely bitch. Liked her size and typical head and expression. Correct bite, nice eye and ear placement. Coat not at its best today but a lot to like about her.

3rd -Blackmine Blue Pearl At Chorbeck JW (Mrs H Haughton)

Res -Bonosue Sweet Caroline (Mr I A Hardman)

VHC -Lockhaugh Twix At Bevmar (Mr B A Bassett)

Open - Bitch Entries: 11 Absentees: 0

1st -CH Ravenside Marsha At Jordith JW (Mrs L.M.I & Mr A.M. Jordan-Smith) A worthy Champion in excellent condition. Super jacket, lovely head and she moved steadily, straight and true. Liked her a lot.

2nd -Ravenside Caught By The Wind (Mr M Lowry) Smaller in stature than the winner. In great coat and condition. Very good head, dark eye , good dentition and correct bite. Well angulated on the move and parallel front and back.

3rd -CH Remony Frosted Ivy JW ShCM (Mrs A Gregory)

Res -Picer Isabel Derby (Mr G & Mrs S Pickering)

VHC -Howthwaite Gay Dusky (Mr R J & Mrs E A Barrett)

Veteran - Bitch Entries: 2 Absentees: 1

1st -Crosby Dark Duchess At Roseghyll (Mrs A Johnson) Nine and a half years old, shown in good condition. Nice body lines and looks very
fit for her age. Well done to her owner for keeping her fit and slim!
