BORDER DARLINGTON 22 Judge: Miss T Peacock BORDER JUDGE DARLINGTON 22 Firstly I would like to thank the committee for their invitation to judge Border Terriers. Huge thanks to my two efficient stewards Laura Jordan-Smith and Julie North who kept me on track and finally the exhibitors for a super entry. Movement in general was better at the rear than in front as there were too many swinging fronts, wide movement and toeing in. There was a good selection of quality dogs and bitches for me to chose from and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. 1. Jackson’s Clipstone Starshine - this 9 year old was in super condition. Good otter head with a strong jaw and big teeth. Well constructed dog of nice size, narrow and easily spannable. Moved out very well covering the ground with ease. Best Veteran and TVG3. 2. Baxter’s Mysulan Going Solo, another dog in super condition, good for size with pleasing head, narrow throughout and easy to span, excellent pelt, moved out well. MPD 5(1) 1. Guvercin’s Glebeheath Oh Boy - lovely well balanced puppy with good outline. Liked his narrow rib and length of body. Tail set was good and he carried it well. Good coat and pelt. Very promising puppy. Best Puppy. 2. North’s Foxfactor Spic’n’span - good head and correct bite with large teeth. He has a good straight front and level topline. Just a little unsettled on the day. 1. Nicol’s Upend Country Lad at Jakraila - g/t with strong masculine head, good bite and well set ears. Just right for bone Straight front leading into well laid shoulders, excellent coat and pelt, racy outline and good movement. 2. Wright’s Totherend Argus - g/t of nice size, super headed lad with strong jaw, pleasing to go over with good front and rear angulation. Moved out well holding his shape and topline easily. Close between 1 and 2. 1. Horner’s Stineval Lambert - g/t with lovely head, well set ears. He spans well, has a good pelt and harsh jacket. Nice length of body and strong loin with well muscled hindquarters. Moved very well. 2. Bean’s Manorcroft Mr. Brightside, light grizzle with excellent head and expression. Good shoulders and front, super hindquarters, jacket okay. He just needs time to settle down on the move. 1. Fraser & Butler’s Ycart in with Hounds - g/t with super shoulders and front, level topline and good tailset, narrow throughout, lovely free mover covering the ground with ease. He was shown in good full jacket. 2. Davies’s Gwynfe Carreg Glas of Foxchapel - another quality male of good type, excellent otter head with a strong jaw. Correct shoulders, front okay, good topline and tailset. Moved out well. What a super class of quality dogs. Very close decisions for the placings with several good ones having to go home cardless. 1. Goldings Beaconpike Dionysus. 2 year old who has a pleasing otter shaped head with a keen expression and a powerful jaw with big teeth. Nice reach of neck and shoulder placement with well ribbed back. His double jacket was of good texture and he spanned with ease. He moved with drive and purpose. A really well balanced dog of handy size who was presented in fit hard condition. A pleasure to award him the D.C.C. 2. Bullen’s The Joker let’s Rock and Roll to Fevstone - g/t with typical otter head, well placed dark eyes, broad skull, good reach of neck, level topline and correct carrot tail. He has a good length if rib and he was shown in excellent harsh jacket with dense undercoat and a loose thick pelt. He covered the ground well on the move. R.C.C. 1. Lee’s Ch. Yorkpiece Fiery Lucifer, eye catching b/t dog, pleasing in outline with a good reach of neck, topline and tailset. Super harsh blue coat on a good thick pelt. Nicely angulated behind allowing him to move around the ring efficiently. 2. Gilpin’s Ch. Otterbobs Tolson, another very good dog with a strong head, nice eye and expression, good neck and shoulders, narrow in body and spannable. Good legs and feet, came short of coat today. He moved well but not as free as my winner. 1. Rostron’s Keebank Withy Song - super bitch, well balanced throughout, lovely otter head, well ribbed, neat feet, in good condition, moved well. 1.
