BORDER JUDGE DRIFFIELD 23

My thanks to Driffield Championship Dog Show Society for the invitation to judge today and thanks to my stewards Peter and Lesley Armstrong, who kept the ring running smoothly. Thanks also to the exhibitors for allowing me to go over their dogs. Front movement in the breed still needs some improvement, but overall I had lots of quality exhibits. Bites were good and only one kinked tail. 110 dogs making 122 entries.

1 Chorbeck Chatty Man JW ShCM (Haughton) Grizzle dog shown in full harsh coat with thick pelt, good masculine head, straight front, good bone and condition, not showing his age. He moved well with confidence and drive. Best Veteran.

2 Kentixen Mint Imperial At Roseghyll (Johnson) Narrow grizzle dog, slightly longer in muzzle, good teeth, dark eye. Shown with plenty of harsh coat and thick pelt, moved well.

3 Mysulan Going Solo JW (Baxter).

1 Beaconpike Caelus (Golding) Just 6 months, but what a promising puppy, with lovely head, big teeth. harsh coat coming through, nice size, straight front and good angulation, moved well, love him. Best Puppy in Breed.

2 Billy Boy Mayhem (Foreman & Keenan). Very good head and expression, liked his body lines and topline, shown in harsh coat with loose pelt, a little excitable on the move, but a nice pup.

3 Ravenside Play The Game Kersfell (Sneddon).

1 Goxfell Gotcha (Stamp & Joyce) Nice size grizzle with strong muzzle, masculine head, good coat and pelt, nice body shape, narrow ribs, he moved well around the ring, with level topline, driving from behind.

2 Dassett Igglepiggle JW (Spafford) Well turned out grizzle dog, narrow throughout, with slightly deeper chest, good coat, masculine head, moved well.

3 Chorbeck Curtain Call (Haughton).

YD (7,2)

1 Hightarn Nightfall At Roseghyll (Johnson) Masculine head, nice shoulders and good front. Liked his shape, narrow, good topline, with harsh coat. He strode out well with confidence.

2 Blaisdon Mister Nice Guy (Thomas) More compact type, sound mover with a lovely masculine head. Coat and pelt to die for.

3 Ycart Just to Ground (Fraser & Butler).

1 Mysulan Easy Street (Hall) Liked for size, good head, coat and pelt spot on, he moved really well on neat feet, just a little proud of his tail. 2 Achouffe Fens Stalker (Hammersley) Grizzle male with keen expression, harsh coat just coming in, moved OK.

PGD (3)

1 Pipruda Dark Rum at Beckholm JW (Sutton) Well presented grizzle, with coat and pelt spot on, good body shape, narrow in ribs, nice head, big teeth, moved very well on neat tight feet.

2 Kentixen Mint Imperial At Roseghyll (Johnson) Second in veteran dog.

3 Achouffe Fens Stalker (Hammersley).

Lots to like in this class.

1 Beaconpike Dionysus (Golding) One I’ve admired from ringside and he didn’t disappoint. Narrowly beaten in the challenge for RCC. Typical border, not overdone, well balanced and moved with ease around the ring.

2 Glen Mara Oh Viedo At Kersfell JW (Sneddon) Good head with strong muzzle and big teeth, dark eyes, keen expression, well angulated, easy span, strong loin, harsh coat, well shown.

3 Cedarhill Dish Of The Day For Dexlin (Inness).

What a class! All quality dogs.

1 The Joker Let’s Rock and Roll to Fevstone (Bullen) Masculine dog with strong head and good body shape, shown in tip top condition, he covered the ground well with reach and drive. Stood out in the final line up and pleased to award him Dog CC.

2 Ch Otterbobs Tolson (Gilpin) Another quality dog, turned out in best condition, well shown and in sync with his handler, good construction highlighted by his movement. Res Dog CC.

3 Ch Yorkpiece Fiery Lucifer (Lee).

VB (3,1)

Both good representatives of the breed.

1 Ch Smalesmouth Skylark (Roberts) 10 year old grizzle bitch who has maintained her shape, narrow throughout, with flat rib, easy span and came well to hand. Otter head, her teeth were good. Shown in harsh coat.

2 Ch Cobstoneway Love Song JW ShCM (Stevens) Lovely feminine head on this bitch. 8 years old, enjoying her day. She was shown in good condition and moved well around the ring with reach and drive

PB (10,4)

1 Stineval Sasha (Horner) More mature puppy, she was shown and presented in excellent condition. Liked her size, good head and expression, not overdone in any way. Moved well.

2 Carrock Complicated (Fawcett) Promising youngster at 6 months old. Feminine head with good coat and pelt, presenting a balanced picture, she was a little nervous on the table, but moved well.

3 Otterbobs Beatrix (Gilpin).

1 Stowthorney These Days (Brewster & Green) Well presented grizzle youngster, liked her size and balance, feminine head with slightly longer muzzle, coat and pelt good, narrow throughout, well ribbed back, easy span. She moved well around the ring whilst maintaining her outline. Pleased to award her Res Bitch CC.

2 Dassett Upsy Daisy JW (Spafford) Feminine bitch presented in top condition, a pleasing outline and she moved well, just preferred the narrowness of 1.

3 Haystoun Cosmic Dancer At Paleside (Mitchell).

1 Bohamer York’ist Celeste By Tythrop (Lee) Another one I have always admired. A pleasure to go over, with wonderful blue and tan coat, thick pelt, flat ribs, of good size, weight, and overall balance. Couldn’t fault her and she had the ‘look at me’ attitude to take Bitch CC and Best of Breed.

2 Nottorg Nekesa (Taylor) Smart grizzle bitch, good size, lovely feminine head, excellent coat and pelt, presented in top condition, nice length of body, flat rib, good outline and moved well.

3 Ycart Just Stood Baying (Fraser & Butler).

1 Nottorg Nekesa (Taylor). Second yearling bitch.

2 Ebffiniau Western Dancer (Brinkley) Nice head with keen expression, coat just coming through, nice size, good topline and tailset, a little nervous at times, but moved well.

3 Jackofox Sweet Allison (Thornburn)

1 Mysulan Rhapsody In Blue (Baxter) Smart blue and tan bitch, lovely feminine head, good size, came to hand well, in good condition and well presented, best mover in the class.

2 Olliesorchids Vintage Fizz (Symons) Feminine head with strong muzzle, good teeth and keen expression. Harsh coat with thick pelt, presented in good condition, narrow throughout and moved with ease.

3 Goldenmill Illusion at Vandamere (Singh).

LB (6,3)

1 Tojamatt Seamstress (Matthews) Feminine grizzle bitch, shown in full coat today of good texture and plenty of pelt, narrow throughout, good rib, strong loin, moved well, maintaining her outline.

2 Havencroft Emerald Via Kewhaigh (Cummins) Nice size blue and tan, ribs well back, good harsh coat, pleasing head and expression, moved well.

3 Howthwaite Times Gone By (Clements).

1 Ch Wintergarden Bluestocking At Tythrop (Lee) Quality blue and tan with the best of coats and pelt, nice size and came to hand well, good head and construction, moved with ease and speed, happy showgirl who pushed hard for a place in the challenge.

2 Picer Isabel Derby (Pickering). Plenty of harsh double coat on this bitch, super head and expression with large teeth, sound construction, moved well on tight feet.

3 Tarkaswell Sea The Stars (Sansom).

1 Borderrush Clementine For Ardenholm (Swain) Stood alone in this class, well presented feminine bitch of good size, nice head and reach of neck, coat and pelt good, nicely set carrot tail
