BORDER LEEDS 24 Judge: Ms Linda Coleman BORDER JUDGE LEEDS 24 I enjoyed my judging and appreciated the good sportsmanship around the ring with applause for all class placings, this is so often lacking these days. In the males there were a lot shown in single coat so these were not in contention on the day, also quite a few were difficult to span. I did not find these problems in the bitches However as many judges before me have commented, good front movement is the exception rather than the norm and these Borders would easily tire following a horse all day. MPD (4,1) 1 Forest Zpod Chlumskych Haju Glebeheath (Guvercin) Nearly 9 months gr in super tight coat, well presented and shown well, as always by this exhibitor. Lovely tail set on well, super head and expression. Moved out well on super tight feet, true fore and aft. Preferred the length of rib of the winner of PD 2 Ebffiniau Whiskey In The Jar (Brinkley) 7 months gr balanced head, good feet and front angles, coat not at its best yet being a little broken. Moved o.k 3 Awbrooksky Owe No Favours (Goddard) PD (6,1) 1 Borderrush Brugal Rum For Twizzlemere (Pearce) 10 months old blue and tan with nice markings. Lovely and narrow all through and easily spannable Keen expression, balanced head with good ears and set., to be picky would prefer slightly more bone for his height but moved out well with an easy stride and felt he could go all day BPD 2 Brumberhill Bit O’Blarney (McPherson) Blue with a balanced and typical head from this well known kennel. He has a double correct coat and is easily spannable and has a good tailset, he moved ok but gave his handler a hard time and was overstretched on the stand which gave him an incorrect topline on the day. 3 Manorcroft True Statesman At Martifers (Sharp) JD (3) 1 Borderrush Brugal Rum For Twizzlemere (Pearce) 1st in previous class 2 Mysulan Byards Legend (Baxter) G/t smaller mould than my winner. Lovely head and expression, tail and set correct. He moved ok but not as ground covering as 1st. PGD (7,1) 1 Chadbrook Torsten (MacGregor) G/t in mainly good jacket, keen expression, nice feet, a tad wide in front but decent length of neck and moved well. 2 Pipruda Dark Rum at Beckholm JW (Sutton) In super coat, well balanced fore and aft, close up to 1st just a little heavier in ear and moved a bit wider coming back to me. 3 Borderella High Tide (South) LD (11,1) 1 Billy Boy Mayhem (Foreman & Keenan) Red g/r in super coat and condition. Lovely balanced front and rear angles Decent bone, good feet and tail set. Masculine head with strong teeth and jaws. His profile movement was easy and ground covering, pleased to award him the Res CC 2 Ycart In with Hounds (Fraser & Butler) Another red g/r similar size to 1 in good coat and pliable pelt. Good bone, keen expression, moved well, tail set a little lower than 1st. 3 Alcumlow Painter Man On Hobhill (Pickerin) OD (2) 1 CH Otterbobs Tolson (Gilpin) I gave this dog the Res CC from limit last time I judged and boy has he hit the high spots since but deservedly so. He was presented in pin wire coat, easily spannable there is no exaggeration with this dog and everything flows smoothly through his neck and shoulders with matching hind angulation. His balanced head with short strong muzzle through to his narrow front and straight legs. He moved well, happily covering the ground and stood out in the challenge so CC, BOB and short listed in the group. 2 Sui CH, CH Awbrooksky Never Back Down JW WW23 (Goddard) G/r in good double coat perhaps just going over. Keen expression good bone and feet, a little shorter in body. Moved ok VD (3) 1 Mysulan Going Solo JW VW (Baxter) Easily spannable narrow blue and tan who I feel at 9 years old has improved with age. Neat ears, good feet and length of rib, moved well. BV 2 Borderstream Zodiak (Ward) One I did well last time I judged, now just 7, heavier all through but well proportioned in good double coat. 3 Kentixen Mint Imperial At Roseghyll (Johnson) Special Beginner (9,1) 1 Foxwater Alma Ann (Spence) 2 yr red g/r in lovely coat, well balanced with good neck, sweet head, nice ears and moved steadily. 2 Borderrush Brugal Rum For Twizzlemere (Pearce) 3 Pipruda Pink Gin (Speake) MPB (7,1) 1 Tarkaswell Time Traveller (Sansom) 6 and a half months old blue in good coat, lovely neck and shoulders with matching upper arm. Narrow all through, enough bone, thick pelt, easily spannable. Neat ears and dark eyes, her joie de vivre carried her through to BP 2 Northborders Parsnip (Fletcher) Another baby in good coat. She had a good length of rib and tail set, nice angles. I liked her skull but lost out on stop to winner, moved well. 3 Ebffiniau Nothing Compares (Brinkley) PB (7,1) 1 Pipruda Peppermint Patty At Beckholm (Sutton) Red g/r in good coat, well ribbed back, lovely angles all round which enabled her to stride out well. Balanced head with keen dark eyes. 2 Borderrush Beeble Honey Rum (Hall) Blue, not quite the upper arm of one. Good coat and texture, easy span, good length of rib and dark eyes. 3 Fryerfold Galena (Stephenson) JB (4) 1 Remony Rose Gold JW (Gregory) Light grizzle, good coat and well muscled, balanced head good front angles and moved well. 2 Carrock Complicated (Fawcett). Gr lovely coat and condition, nice head, moved well. Tail set on well but slightly longer than the winners, close decision. 3 Brumberhill Celebration (Clements) PGB (14,2) 1 Otterbobs Beatrix JW (Gilpin) Red gr in super double coat. Lovely head and neat ears. Well angled stifles and good lay of shoulder. Moved well. 2 Borderrush Clementine For Ardenholm (Swai ) Gr another in good coat, balanced head, straight front, well ribbed back, moved well. 3 Mysulan Easy Going With Fryerfold (Stephenson) LB (9,2) 1 Haystoun Cosmic Dancer At Paleside (Mitchell) Handy sized blue, all of a piece viewed in profile, lovely angles front and rear so moved true covering the ground. Loved her varminty expression. Her pelt was good and her coat so tight I had a job to check the rest of her coat colour coming through. Presented a balanced overall picture and I was pleased to award her her first CC 2 Otterbobs Aira Force Flegato (Fleming) Gr another in super coat and easily spanned. Balanced angles with correct tail and set. Good head and moved well. 3 Fevstone Rosie Posie (Masefield) OB (9,3) 1 CH Bohamer York’ist Celeste By Tythrop (Lee) Blue, another all of a piece with balanced front and rear angles. Super carroty tail set on correctly. Otter head with good ears. She was in lovely coat and condition and moved out with purpose. Her expression was calm rather than let’s go which I preferred on my CC winner so had to settle for the Res CC 2 CH Howthwaite Gay Dusky (Barrett) Another blue and also a worthy champion, my reserve winner last time out and close up to 1 but preferred the winners skull and today she was giving her handler a hard time. 3 Tarkaswell Sea The Stars (Sansom) VB (1) 1 CH Cobstoneway Love Song JW ShCM VW (Stevens) 10 years old red gr. I liked her head and correct tail and set, but she was overweight and didn’t move well. Linda Coleman
