BORDER JUDGE SOUTHERN COUNIES 12

Border Terriers

A lovely entry. I thoroughly enjoyed judging the breed again & was able to find some lovely Borders. It was a great pleasure to watch my BOB go G4 as well.

MPD (4)

1 Bladen’s Daluce Fight Or Fall for Emblehope, very nice puppy, very good outline, good neck & shoulders, excellent topline & tailset, really nice in head & expression, well ribbed which is where he scored over 2. BP;

2 Hollingsbee’s Otterwood Cyrus, similar in type to 1. 7 months & not the rib yet but very good outline. Sound & true moving, excellent coat & pelt;

3 Wallace’s Hobolt Hallmark.

PD (5)

1 Haydon & Gibbings’ Earthtaw Dexter, standing this young male has a lovely outline. Good neck, topline, coat at its best, sound. Would prefer his tail not carried so high;

2 Larner’s Hawcoat Lord George, slightly taller than 1. I liked his masculine head & expression, nice in all respects, in excellent coat & condition, very sound;

3 Waller’s Question Master.

JD (4)

Only two but both did their best not to win.

1 Hunt’s Ottaswell Palamedes, took a while to settle but when he did he moved OK. I liked his balance, good coat & pelt, super head & expression which is where he beat 2. Excellent bone & feet;

2 Cracknell’s Chatmoss King Orry at Moddeyaalin, slightly heavier in type to 1. More settled to start with but didn’t move behind as well as 1. Standing he presents a nice outline, in great coat & condition.

YD (3)

1 Warneford’s Hartswelin Houdini, on the table this dog was really nice to go over. In excellent body condition, true hard coat. On the floor doesn’t make the most of himself. I preferred his head & expression to 2 but didn’t move as well in front as 2. Difficult decision this one;

2 Dickinson’s Ragatam Newmarket at Badgerholme, this boy is a showing dog & really makes the most of himself. A little lighter in condition than 1 & needs to strengthen, he is sound though. Well handled.

GD (3)

1 Smith’s Oatberry Snow Storm, really nicely made dog, nice size, good neck & shoulder, right amount of bone, good feet, excellent topline, well bodied, moves very freely & soundly. Loved his head & expression;

2 Fulker’s Foxpaw Brilliant Disguise, nice type & standing has a lot of attributes. Nice in head & expression, neat well carried ears, excellent mouth & large teeth. Sadly on the move he roaches his back & so spoils his outline;

3 Dale’s Offordcluny Douglas.

PGD (8)

1 Dean’s Cedarhill Beyond The Stars, liked this dog as soon as he came in. I thought true Border type, sound & covers the ground in free moving way. Very good head & expression, well placed ears, strong muzzle, excellent topline & tailset. CC;

2 O Snow Storm;

3 Sneddon’s Kersfell Comply Or Die.

LD (10)

Nice class & some really nice dogs being shown.

1 Jenkins’ Badgerbeck Pablo, b/t, so nice to go over, lovely head, dark eye, strong in muzzle, good front, super outline, in great coat & condition, handled so well. Should have a rosy future if he already hasn’t;

2 South’s Borderella Day Tripper, bigger type but well put together, true Border head & expression, good neck & shoulder, very sound, covers the ground on the move. Looked well & shown to gain his place here;

3 Guvercin’s Dandyhow Jumping Jack at Glebeheath.

OD (8)

1 Stockley’s Foxfactor Pied Piper, headed a really nice open class & the more I looked at him the more I liked him. He could project himself a bit more but anyway I felt he should win the class on his overall balance, type & movement. In great coat & condition, spannable body. RCC;

2 Wallace’s Ch Hobholt Harrier, I also thought this a super dog, 6½ years & still in great form. I love his head & expression but at times looked a bit bored with it all. A true Border type, good length of body, sound both ways, has a lot of quality;

3 Sneddon’s Chesterton Top Hat And Tails by Kersfell.

MPB (6)

1 Wallace’s Hobholt Heiress, very nice type, very feminine in head & expression, excellent front & feet, good topline & tailset, good hindquarters, in excellent coat & body condition;

2 Milton’s Baillieswells Lochindaal, very much a baby & not in good coat yet but having said that showed her socks off & thoroughly enjoyed the day. The right size, sound both ways, lovely head & expression;

3 Small’s Tilmoray Turtle Dove.

PB (7)

1 Stockley’s Foxfactor Cue The Music, very nice young bitch, very promising & would think a good future as she has so much quality both standing & on the move where she covers a lot of ground. In excellent coat & thick pelt, well handled;

2 Larner’s Hawcoat Forget Me Not, similar in type to 1 but this b/t was close up to 1. Loved her head & expression, very sound. Just not the topline of 1 on the move but she is a baby & plenty of time at 9 months;

3 Sneddon’s Kersfell Chorus Girl.

JB (7)

1 Jenkins’ Badgerbeck Prediction, not a very outgoing bitch but so nice to go over & nothing out of place. Very feminine in head & expression, in full coat, sound & true moving;

2 Hyslop’s Baywillow Brown Braid, similar in many ways & was my winner at one point but at last minute lost her topline. On the table she is well constructed & in great condition, coat in perfect order & well handled;

3 Roslin-Williams’ Mansergh Donna Lucia.

YB (5)

1 Girling’s Benattivo Faberge, I thought this a lovely bitch & quite dominated this class. True Border in type, such a super outline, sound & free moving, well ribbed, firm in loin, full of quality. I would think a super future. RCC;

2 South’s Tamela Penny Lane by Borderella, the most lovely head & expression, very sound, straight front, excellent feet, excellent topline, well carried tail, in super coat & thick pelt;

3 Dean’s Tyrian Amulet.

GB (8)

1 M Donna Lucia, taller than I really prefer but in this class I felt she was soundest of them all & so won the class. Good overall balance, straight front, good bone & feet;

2 Milton’s An Cnoc of Bailliswells, slightly heavier in type to 1, not helping her handler at all, not as good in front as 1. Super coat texture, good hindquarters;

3 Southam’s Gameway Margarita at Southash.

PGB (8)

1 Johnson & Williams’ Quarryway Tansy, thought this bitch stood out here. Full of quality, very good overall balance & looked so good on the move, sound both ways, lovely feminine head, large teeth, strong in muzzle;

2 Golding’s Beaconpike In A Storm, rich red in colour though not in her best jacket. Similar in head type to 1. Sound & free moving, good neck & shoulders, excellent topline. Will look so much better with her new coat;

3 Haydon & Gibbings’ Earthtaw Catkin.

LB (17)

Fantastic class & some I liked sadly had to be left out.

1 Day’s Withershins Daddies Girl, what a lovely bitch this is, I loved her from the moment I saw her & on the table was super to go over. Covers the ground in such a true action, super in head & expression. Should make up if she hasn’t already got CCs. CC, BOB & G4;

2 Reynolds & Willis’ Enchanted Evening at Etterbern, gave this bitch the RCC as a baby & still like her a lot. Slightly different in type to 1 & here I didn’t think she was as settled moving. In great coat & looked the part from any angle;

3 Waller’s Worker’s Playtime.

OB (12)

1 McPherson’s Brumberhill Blue Sky, b/t, really nice to go over, super neck & shoulders, excellent topline & tailset, in pristine coat & condition, sound in front, free moving in profile;

2 Johnson & Williams’ Biddestone Poppyseed by Quarryway, I just loved the head & expression on this bitch & would have won on that alone if I had been judging just heads. Nice size. Not the run-in on neck as 1 & when stood together I could see this. I liked her a lot though & one also to carry her title;

3 Day’s Gameway Cappucchino of Withershins.
