BORDER WELSH KENNEL CLUB 15 Judge: Mr D Ericsson BEST OF BREED : 4375 JACKSON, Mrs J & JACKSON Mrs E Ch Cobstoneway Moon River At Clipstone BORDER JUDGE WELSH KENNEL CLUB 15 Border Terriers I very much enjoyed judging this quality entry & I left there were some particularly good bitches. As always, some classes were better than others, but my winners & the bitch line-up in particular pleased me. Heads varied considerably & also movement & fronts which still seem to be problems in the breed. VD (0). MPD (3) 1 Irving’s Dandyhow Galloping Gourmet, very promising baby showing really well, pleasing head, good body & outline, very good coat & tail, very good behind & he strides out well, just needs to tighten in front at this stage. Most appealing & he won BP with a bit in hand; 2 Pickering’s Picer Fellemburg, good moving puppy of correct length, excellent body & tail, ears need to settle & I found him rather large in eyes, moved well; 3 Read’s Roxambor Magical Timepiece. PD (3) 1 Fawcett’s Carrock Carnegie, pleasing puppy of lovely size & he is well constructed, good coat, stands on good legs & feet, typical head, movement front & rear needs to settle; 2 Reeves’ Baywillow Blueprint, stockier in build & not the head of the winner, lovely blue pin-wire coat, excellent tail & rear, presented in good condition, showed well; 3 Barrett’s Howthwaite Dreams. JD (0). ND (1) 1 B Blueprint. GD (4,1a) 1 Lorraine & Thomas’ Raleniro Second Time Around, good outline & size & he spans easily, correct racy hindquarters, hard coat in good order, rather too deep in stop detracting from expression & he could be more masculine all through, good mover; 2 Golding’s Earthdog Lanyard by Beaconpike, larger & heavier in build than the winner, pleasing head, very good body, excellent coat, tailset could be better, very true coming & going & his overall breed type could not be ignored; 3 Fordham & Cove-Print’s Colourbox Flint Knapper over Swingwing. PGD (5) 1 Jackson’s Clipstone Starshine, I liked this dog very much & he presented a very good overall picture, very good otter head, excellent rear & typical racy hindquarters, ultra hard coat which could have had more length, well-presented & he showed well, a little untidy in front coming toward you, but overall a quality dog whom I liked very much; 2 Horton & Green’s Foxfactor Scotts Briar, very good type & size, spans easily, rather short of coat today, excellent rear & he has a good tail, not the head & ears of the winner, showed well; 3 Fordham’s Colourbox Gun Powder. LD (6) 1 Barrett’s Howthwaite Grainsgill, beautifully constructed dog with great freedom of movement & he is perfectly balanced front & rear, pleasing head with excellent terrier expression, very good front, excellent legs & feet, really good pelt, hard coat, easy mover & he pressed hard in the challenge where he eventually had to give way to maturity. RCC – I am sure his day will come; 2 Golding’s Beaconpike Red Saturn, very good type & size, sound front & rear, rather short of coat today, head & ears not so pleasing, accurate mover & his overall type & balance are pleasing, could perhaps have done with better pelt ; 3 McPherson’s Brumberhill Both Barrels. OD (6) 1 Hall & Ellis’ Ch Brackenfell Bok To Bach, top class dog presented in grand condition, really good head with correct eyes & ears & he has a good strong muzzle, excellent legs & feet, good topline, would have benefitted from a little less weight, perfect coat, very good tail, natural showman & he won the CC; 2 Broadbent’s Gellisown Flintstone, this dog handles very well & he is easily spanned, excellent front, good body & ribs, hard full coat, sound legs & feet, muzzle could be stronger & he could have a little more temperament in the ring but nonetheless a very good dog who deserved his place here; 3 Greenhill & Thomas’ Orangebox Stewards Enquiry. VB (3) 1 Baxter’s Am/Can/Int Ch Sulan Fancy That, feminine bitch with lots of quality, lovely head with neat ears, good eye, excellent coat & pelt, very good body, sound front & rear, one of the best tails here today, showed well for her age. BV; 2 Small’s Badgerbeck Tree Pipit at Tilmoray, blue hard coated bitch of lovely type, finer all through than the winner & although she has a good head her muzzle could be stronger. Good show girl; 3 Taylor’s Lutrabeck Layla. MPB (3) 1 Pickering’s Picer Flora Mcivor, really lovely baby puppy full of enthusiasm & she moved really well, excellent head & expression, good front & rear, very hard coated, shows great hopes for the future. BPB; 2 Stevens’ Cobstoneway Love Song, another pleasing puppy with lots to like about her, very good head & expression, excellent front, body, coat & tail. Not an easy decision between these two very good babies, but I preferred the better hind movement of the winner; 3 McDowell’s Mcbrock Bedazzled. PB (4) 1 Barrett’s Howthwaite Gold Dust, well made blue bitch with good neck & shoulders, typical body, good topline, sound quarters, very good double coat in good order, OK in head, not so pleasing in eye & expression, showed well; 2 Irving’s Dandyhow Mazurka, very feminine puppy with sound overall construction & typical outline, stands on good legs & feet, very good coat, happy show girl, head not her fortune & this let her down here today; 3 Hollingsbee’s Otterwood Domina Candesco. JB (7) Excellent class of very good bitches. 1 Matthews’ Tojamatt Integrity, I liked this bitch very much indeed & considered her in the challenge, she is very difficult to fault & handles beautifully on the table being of sound construction all through & her overall proportions were really excellent, very typical head & expression, sound front & rear, narrow & deep in body, good coat & tail, a very exciting prospect for the future; 2 Ritchie’s Ianteg Red Rubi, another very good bitch of lovely type, excellent front, good head, very hard coat in pristine condition, just a tad shorter overall & she could have used her tail more to advantage on the move, accurate mover; 3 Morgan’s Blewecourt Carpe Horam. NB (1) 1 Yeates’ Heatherdrift Harmony at Bluebabel, well up to size & she would have benefitted from less weight here today, pleasing head of correct shape, good eyes & ears, shown in undercoat & not very cooperative on the move, good legs & feet. GB (7,2) 1 Baxter’s Sulan Strictly Blues Dancin’, strong blue bitch who surprised me by being easily spanned, very good coat & pelt, excellent front & rear giving her good movement, typical head & expression. Won this class with a bit in hand; 2 Sansom’s Tarkaswell Doctor’s Orders, well presented bitch of lovely breed type presenting an excellent overall picture, feminine head which could have done with a stronger muzzle, very good legs & feet, sound front, good coat, rather over angulated behind, showed well; 3 Milton’s Baillieswells Stronachie. PGB (8) 1 Baird’s Tojamatt Debutante for Dowgri, easy winner here, sound fore & aft with balanced outline, typical head, hard double coat, good tail set well, a little shorter overall than I would have preferred, good mover presented in good order; 2 Nightingale’s Glebeheath Gold’n Girl, very typical bitch who is a little longer than the winner, but she is too fine in muzzle & she needs more deportment on the move where she seems very uninterested, sound front & rear, good coat & tail, will look a lot better when she decides to enjoy dog showing! 3 Horton & Green’s Gameway Oreo. LB (11,2) Excellent class. 1 Roslin-Williams’ Mansergh Plusfours, very feminine bitch & a true Border T. She handles beautifully on the table & ticks all the boxes for breed specific points with her lovely otter head, wonderful coat & tail & she spans easily, ideal body properties, extra sound behind with good tail carried perfectly, moved well although she can be a little untidy in front coming towards you but her overall type in combination with outstanding breed points far outweigh this, just unlucky to meet another bitch of top quality here today. RCC; 2 Pickering’s Picer Aimee Vilbert, another excellent bitch who appealed greatly with her sound construction, hard coat which could have had more length, good pelt, pleasing head, a little heavy in ears, sound rear, very true mover; 3 Sansom’s Tarkaswell Double Agent. OB (6,2) 1 Jackson’s Ch Cobstoneway Moon River at Clipstone, outstanding Border T who fits the Standard so well, very good otter head with excellent ears & eyes, the best front I think I have ever come across in the breed & a joy to behold especially on the move, sound legs & feet & just the right amount of bone for a working terrier, perfect ribcage, good topline, pin wire double coat, good pelt, sound racy hindquarters, good tail, well-presented & she is a very precise mover being dead true coming & going, ultimately landed the CC, BOB, delighted to see her win G2 later in the day; 2 Stockley’s Foxfactor Cue The Music, yet another quality bitch who was just unlucky to meet such an outstanding bitch today, lovely overall type, sound front & rear, good body, excellent coat & pelt, good mover, head could do with a little more quality; 3 Levett’s Kyscafter Kestrel.
