ENGLISH BULL BOURNEMOUTH 23 Judge: Mr T Williams ENGLISH BULL JUDGE BOURNEMOUTH 23 A big thank you to Bournemouth Canine Association for inviting me to judge Bull Terriers at this years’ Championship show – it’s been a long time coming after previously being postponed due to the pandemic. And thank you to all the exhibitors that made the journey so far south, it was much appreciated. I have heard a lot of discussion around low entry numbers, don’t be fooled, despite the entry only being 32, which does seem to be the average these days, the quality was extremly high, particularly in Dogs. Never let the words ‘easy ticket’ be uttered, the quality of animals was exemplary and in some cases there was very little to separate the placings. So on with the show, after a recent wet spell, the sun came out and the temperature rose, there was a light breeze, which understandably caused a few dogs to get distracted by the flapping tent. Mouths were generally good, the majority of animals were presented in superb condition – although this was slightly let down by a high number of dirty teeth – ‘the devil is in the detail’. PD 1 Nevernights Eclipse. 9 month old, tri-colour dog – his head is powerful, filled and turned with a good finish. Mouth just off. He has neat, well placed ears, a good reach of neck into a mature body for such a youngster. He has a gleaming black coat, a good forechest, a level topline into well defined hinds with good round bone. He looked good on the move albeit a little loose in the front. Shown and handled well and with control. 1 Bullyhinks Fury. 17 month old white boy. A super balanced dog – His head long and strong and well filled. A keen expression with neat erect ears. Mouth correct. He has a good reach of neck, a well laid shoulder and short back, with enough bone. He has shapely well muscled hind quarters with tight feet. He moved well both ways. This dog is maturing nicely, just needs a little more time. Handled well. 2 Ellakru Maverick at Exquizabull. This pure white boy is just over 12 months. Another quality dog, his head long and strong with good fill and a keen expression, he used his ears well. Mouth just off. He has a well balanced body with good bone, a straight front and a well angulated rear – he moved well both ways. A very promising youngster, there’s more to come for this boy. 3 Bullgalaxy Bolek Basil. 1 Jasna Dirty Dealer. A heavyweight Red and White dog. His head is strong, with a long profile with just enough finish, well filled and a good depth of muzzle. Mouth level. His body is well balanced, his front straight, good round bone with tight feet. He has a good lay of shoulder over well sprung ribs. Shown in gleaming condition. Initially he seemed a little distracted, but moved well once settled. 2 Afanbull Peams Bear. A compact white dog – he has a well filled head with an arching profile and a very keen expression – neat well placed ears. Mouth correct. He has a good reach of neck into a well laid shoulder with enough bone for his size. Short back with well angulated rear. Moved well both ways. 3 Miinroc Dark Intentions. 1 Aricon Fiery Eyes at Clannsman. A compact, powerful boy in super condition. His head is long and strong, a good depth of muzzle with a good finish, well filled with the keenest of expressions. Mouth correct. He has a good reach of neck, strong shoulders and a powerful forechest. His back is short and his body cobby, he’s in fit, hard condition. He has a deep brisket, level topline with powerful, angulated hinds. He does have a tendency to paddle a little in front, but once he puts his head down he moves with purpose – covering good ground, his handler getting the best out of him, happy to award him RDCC. 1 Fr Ch Patton de L’empire du Bull. A powerful, upstanding white dog oozing type and masculinity. His head curves right from his occiput to the tip of his nose, with just enough finish – and is packed right up, almost the perfect ‘rugby ball’. He has a keen expression, with two neat erect ears which he uses freely and to his advantage. Mouth correct. He has a good reach of neck into well laid shoulder, short back over a deep brisket. His front is straight, showing strong, round bone and neat feet with a pronounced arch to his toes. A well set tail, which he does carry a little high. He has well muscled rear quarters with good angulation and a strong second thigh, showing that this dog is fit and in good condition. He moved well, covering the ground, really owning the ring – showing off all of his virtues – making him the best dog on the day. DCC and BOB. 2 Ch Afanbull Bruno Mars. Another quality dog. At 4 years old, this boy is in super condition, his brindle and white coat was rich and coarse to the touch. He has a powerful head, filled and turned, with well placed, neat ears. His mouth is in scissor with one instanding canine. His neck is strong into a well balanced body. A good lay of shoulder, short back with level top line, a deep brisket with good round bone – a strong forechest and well muscled thigh – all wrapped up in a rich tiger brindle jacket. This dog is fit, but possibly carrying a little excess weight since I last saw him, which slightly challenges his outline. None-the-less, he moved well and was shown to perfection. 3 Bilboen Pick Pocket. 1 Bullgalaxy Bolek Basil. A 14 month old, tri-colour dog, showing good type and in great condition. His head is strong, well filled with a slightly broken profile. Mouth just off. He has very neat, erect ears, a good reach of neck into a good shoulder and a level topline. He has strong bone with well balanced body lines, finished off with neat feet. He moved well when settled. 2 Scantsbull Best Girl Brenda. 16 month old, well marked brindle and white bitch. Her head is long with enough fill and a good finish. Mouth correct. She has a level topline, straight front, good bone and a well sprung rib. Finished off with a well angulated rear although she appears a little long cast. She moved well and with drive when she got into her stride. Shown in great condition. 1 Nevernights Little Crow. 9 month old, brindle and white bitch. Her head is long with a gentle profile, well filled with neat erect ears. Mouth correct. She is the litter sister to the dog puppy. She is well balanced with good substance, a good reach of neck and a good shoulder into a level top line. She has a good forechest and enough bone. She has a slight tendency to overstretch herself, giving the appearance of being slightly long, but when she gathers herself together, she stands four square. She moves off with purpose and covers the ground well. Well presented and in fit condition. 2 Miinroc Beautiful Illusion at Jasna. Very feminine solid brindle puppy, initially a little unsure of herself, but improved as the class progressed. She has a well balanced outline, although yet to body up. Her head is long with a gentle curve and starting to fill, her eye is keen with well placed ears. Mouth correct. She has a good reach of neck, a level topline and just enough rear angulation. She moved well once she got going. 2nd and 3rd are litter sisters and are very similar but I preferred the bite and rear angulation of this bitch. 3 Miinroc Mystery Angel. JB 1 Clansmann Wicked Deejay. A very feminine, yet powerful 16 month old, white girl. Her head is long and strong with a gentle curving profile, filled right up with a good finish – she has a keen expression with neat, well placed ears. Mouth correct. She has a long, elegant neck into a good lay of shoulder, a short back into level topline. She has a straight front, strong bone and a well sprung rib, finished off with a well angulated rear. She was slightly put off by the flapping tent, but once she was checked by her handler, bang! There she is…Her coat shone in the sunshine, presented in gleaming, fit condition – moved with drive. RBCC. 2 Scantsbull Best Girl Brenda Also in Special Beginers – 16 month old, well marked brindle and white bitch. Her head is long with enough fill and a good finish. Mouth correct. She has a level topline, straight front, good bone and a well sprung rib. Finished off with a well angulated rear although she appears a little long cast. She moved well and with drive when she got into her stride. Shown in great condition. 3 Xeniabulls Ambalika Ulupi. 1 Balzinbullys Posh Princess. A nice feminine bitch with a rich, dark brindle coat in beautiful condition. Her head is long and strong with enough fill, she has well placed ears – which unfortunately she used a little sparingly. Mouth just off. She has well balanced bodylines, an elegant neck, a level topline and a deep brisket – she has a well angulated rear with enough bone. She moved well around the ring. Shown in good condition and handled well. 2 Aricon Eye Eclipse Cum Abbaz. Pure white bitch. Her head is strong with good depth and fill, a tiny eye with a keen expression. Mouth correct. She has neat well placed ears, a good reach of neck with a well laid shoulder, a very short back over a good depth of brisket and well sprung ribs. She has a well balanced body, a well angulated rear with good muscle tone. She moved well, although a little close behind. LB 1 Laronbelles Serpentine. A very flashy, well marked silver brindle and white bitch. Her head is long and strong, with a gentle curve with two neat well placed ears. Mouth correct. She has a good reach of neck into a well muscled shoulder, good bone, level topline with a well angulated rear, would have liked a little more length of leg, she also tends to stand ‘toe out’ slightly, but moves well and with purpose. Shown and handled to perfection. OB 1 Bluepoint White Swan. A real little powerhouse! A pure white girl. Her head is strong and well filled – she has a small eye, with neat well placed ears, giving a really keen expression. Correct Mouth. She has a strong neck into a well muscled, good lay of shoulder. She has a short back and a level topline. Her front is straight with a good forechest, strong bone and a well sprung rib, finished off with a well angulated rear. She paced a little, but once focussed, she moved with drive. Presented in gleaming, condition this bitch was fit and super hard – showing all the right muscles. A super bitch and really pleased to award her the BCC. 1 Romagna Rumour Has It. This lovely old girl well deserved her round of applause. A super white bitch in great condition for her age, she has a lovely head, curving all the way down, topped with two erect, but a little crinkly ears. She is well balanced and in really good shape. Shown and handled well, she moved off with purpose, really enjoying her outing.
