ENGLISH BULL DARLINGTON 09 Judge: Mr Stephen Wheatley ENGLISH BULL JUDGE DARLINGTON 09 Bull Terriers A high quality throughout all of my classes. My first set of CCs at my local ch show, what an honour. PD (1) 1 Benson’s Nethanbull Peotic Bragg, strong headed b/br, nicely filled up under the eye, good eye & ear placement giving a very pleasing expression, perfect bite, very well balanced youngster which showed in his movement which was good for a puppy, in immaculate condition. Just needs time to mature into a future star. JD (2) 1 Clacher & Walker’s Odakota’s Black Hawk, b/br, owned the ring the moment he entered it, excellent profile with well defined roman finish, packed right up under the eyes, punishing expression especially for a coloured, perfect mouth, ramrod front with strong pasterns & very good feet, elegant neck, well laid back shoulders, super topline, well defined rearquarters, stands like a dream & moves likewise, with both drive & purpose, in gleaming condition & handled to perfection. CC, his first, it was his perfect mouth that gave him the edge for BOB & G3; 2 Griffiths & Goodwin’s Ounsdale Captain Buffalo, white with black eye patch, smaller cobby type boy, gentle sweeping profile, good expression, & mouth, just enough bone. Front is loose, may tighten with age, movement was erratic at best, needs to mature. Handled well. PGD (8) 1 Wannop’s Charishalee Defiant Ghost, big white chap with maximum bone & substance, strong head, excellent expression, very good make & shape, with well defined stifles, moved OK, handled well as we’ve come to expect from this kennel; 2 Buckby’s Benjip Gentle Ben of Skjaldmarr, short coupled b/br, strong head just lacking a little in profile. Very good angulation, correct tail carriage. Movement was parallel just lacked drive. Really smart dog; 3 McDonagh & McLeish’s White Viper at Irazistabull. LD (8) 1 Probert’s Lamellar Love Me Do at Lianwenarth, big stallion on a dog with a tremendous profile but I would have liked to see more fill under the eyes & a stronger underjaw. Has a piercing expression, slight mouth fault, good bone & substance. A little short in upper arm which becomes more apparent on the move where he loses his topline a little, that said he still has terrific ring presence, as always handled well; 2 Westwood’s Tulsadoom Abi Albon, white with black ears, excels in bone & substance, big powerhouse of a dog, strong head. Just lacked a little in profile, mouth just off. Well put together, moved OK, handled well. Just seemed to lack that bit sparkle which cost him the class; 3 Crossand’s Ceilteach Robbie Dubh of Crossgarley. OD (4) 1 Dobbins & Van Eck’s Ossysdream Tristar of Debully, big tri, super filled & turned head, excellent expression. Has one misplaced tooth. Very well balanced with good shoulders, forechest & pasterns, flowing topline over a well bodied up frame leading to excellent rearquarters, needless to say moved very well covering the ground with ease, never stopped showing, handled well. RCC; 2 Welsby’s Sherrywells Red Dragon, well known red, strong head without exaggeration, mouth just off. Good neck & forechest, straight front, good tight feet, well bodied up, good angulation, moved well in front but close behind. Showed well for his handler. VB (2) Unfortunately I learnt later that one of the entries where here but missed there class, such a shame. PB (2) 1 Crossan & Thomson’s Gaelbull Gorgeous, white with red ear, very pretty young lady stunning head with both profile & fill, smallest of eye giving a wicked expression, perfect mouth lovely tapered neck, well laid back shoulders, good straight front & catlike feet, flowing bodylines from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail, moved well. To be hypercritical would have liked to see her in better show condition, that said she is a stunner. BP; 2 Bloom’s Abenaki Everlasting Love, brindle, strong head with good expression & mouth, lovely well put together bitch with flowing lines, good bone, moved OK. Just needs to mature when I’m sure her movement should improve. Well handled. JB (9) 1 Stanley’s Eyona Star at Aricon, white with brindle ear & named accordingly, what a stunner, tremendous ring presence, screams look at me, very well balanced, punishing expression, gorgeous head, lovely flowing lines, in immaculate condition, moved very well, parallel & with drive. CC, lost out on the top spot because of her very slight mouth fault. Handled to perfection; 2 Dobbin & Van Eck’s Sugar Spun Sister for Debully, white with tri ear, taller more rangy bitch than 1. Built on classical flowing lines, very elegant, moved well covering the ground with purpose, showed well; 3 Leesley’s Kilacabar Kissandra at Lydsyll. PGB (4) 1 Paterson’s Conreniam Crystal Clear by Golitha, very pretty white girl, lovely head filled right up with sweeping profile, lovely expression, good mouth, short coupled with elegant flowing lines. Front is a little loose, moved a little close behind that said she is a picture standing. Handled very well; 2 Karta’s Karmara Cause A Catastrophe, white with tri ear, another flashy girl, lovely head packed right up with elegant profile, good mouth, very nice expression, lovely shapely neck. Shoulders could be better, moved a little wide in front, OK behind. Well handled; 3 Kirk’s Kencoto Ruby Charm for Charrycas. LB (10) 1 Sergent’s Teirwgwyn Rebel Angel, white with red ear, the first line of my notes read, wow what a bitch & she is, maximum bone & substance, teeming with quality, powerful upstanding girl, excellent conformation, super head packed right up with gentle profile. Has a slight mouth fault, but I felt her many outstanding virtues, including her excellent movement, far outweigh her slight fault. RCC, wish I owned her; 2 Pilkington’s Wanna Be Posh at Javarke, smaller more compact red, very typy, elegant feminine head, good mouth, good flowing lines, in good condition, moved OK, handled well; 3 Leesley’s Bullyview Sheer Bliss at Lydsyll. OB (3) 1 Sewad’s Padhen Precious Pearl, another top quality red, not the biggest but a real picture, beautiful head without exaggeration, lovely expression, good mouth, enough bone for her size, in super condition. Lacked drive on the move which cost her a top spot. Showed & handled very well; 2 Cserflvi-Yound’s Ducassos Contrary Mary, very elegant white girl, strong but feminine head, punishing expression, mouth correct, has just enough bone for her size, nicely put together. Shoulders could be better which shows when she moves. Strong well defined rear quarters, her rear movement was good, never stopped showing, well handled; 3 Holt’s Sherrywells Nuzzle Muzzle of Eiramsel. STEPHEN WHEATLEY |
