ENGLISH BULL DARLINGTON 25 Judge: Mrs J Peakin ENGLISH BULL JUDGE DARLINGTON 25 This was my first time awarding tickets in Bull Terriers, as well as my debut at the Darlington Championship Show—and I was not disappointed on either front. Despite current entry numbers, I was genuinely pleased with the dogs presented on the day, and the quality of my top four was especially rewarding. The show itself was impeccably organised, with a beautifully arranged showground and a typically generous Yorkshire lunch. My sincere thanks to the committee for the kind invitation, and to the exhibitors for accepting my decisions with such grace. JD (2/0) 1 Foster, Buster Hill Bilboen – White with black eye and ear patch. An absolute stallion of a dog who screams type. This young lad is powerful, balanced, masculine and substantial. He has a superb head – beautifully turned, filled right up and with excellent eye, giving a punishing expression. Correct mouth. He has an excellent forechest from the combination of a well laid shoulder and correct return of upper arm and this leads to a short back with excellent rear angulation. I was pleased to see super, tight, cat feet. His movement is straight coming and going with reach and drive in profile. A very minor point for me, is that he has a tendency to carry his tail a touch high on the move. I had no hesitation awarding him the DCC and in the BOB challenge he edged past the beautiful bitch on his masculinity, compact, balanced, substantial outline and accurate movement. 2 Zabinski, Zabakrol Quickben – Quality young lad br/w. Not quite the substance of 1 but very shapely and no doubt lots to come at maturity. Super long head with unbroken profile and plenty of underjaw. Excellent obliquely set, triangular eye and ears right on top, making for a very good expression. Super make and shape with excellent length of neck into good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Short enough in back with good tailset. Stands a touch wide in front and might prefer neater feet. Moved out OK both ways and in parallel. Plenty to like about him and I’m sure he has a bright future once fully mature. LD (3/1) 1 Hedges, Civert Border Reiver – Br/w with splash. Shapely, masculine lad and presented a balanced overall picture with excellent front and rear angulation; super forechest from well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Gun barrel front and neat feet. Lovely head; clean in profile with length, finish and fill. Super expression, with small obliquely set eye and ears right on top. Moved a touch close going away but with reach and drive in profile. I might like to see a touch more condition on him, which I feel would add to the overall picture. Took the class on his complete fill and turn of head and shapely outline. 2 Elward, Rasels Bull Mr Chaos. All male, white dog. Bull type. Masculine head with good profile, super keen eye and neat ears. Preferred the fill and underjaw of 1. Substantial body with super gun barrel front and tight cat feet. Short back and good front and rear angulation. I ‘d prefer to see him carry a touch less weight to reveal what is no doubt a shapely body. OD (4/1) 1 Townend & Ball, Ch Kenxtwen Let’s Go. Quality Red/w, compact and substantial dog. I’ve judged this lad in the past and he has lost none of his appeal. Super angulation front and rear with short back and correct tail set. Gunbarrel front and neat feet. His head is not overdone at all, but is absolutely correct with length, gentle profile, finish and is completely filled up. Correct mouth. Lovely, keen expression from well set ears and small, obliquely set, triangular eye. Moved straight both ways with typical jaunty air. In good, hard condition. Took the class on his overall type and compact make and shape and literally shouted at me in the challenge to take him to the RCC today. 2 Karta- Williams & Williams, Karmara’s Sugar Daddy. Different, taller type of white dog with two black ears and eye patch. Quality and substance with superb sweeping profile and finish to head. Excellent expression. Not quite the fill of 1. A shade longer than one but good lay of shoulder and straight front and excellent rear angulation. Good tailset and super tight cat feet. Moved out smartly. Well put down and handled. 3 Szewczyk, Quentinhill Red Samureye. I have to make mention of this lovely lad, who would have certainly been in contention had he decided to show today. PB (1/0) 1 Karta- Williams, & Williams, Karmara’s Gossip Girl. 9 mnths white youngster with tremendous substance. Well-made throughout with good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Short enough in back. Might prefer slightly better tailset. Excellent tight cat feet. Feminine, unexaggerated head with gentle profile and good width, which still has time to come on. Excellent small, dark, triangular eye and moved out with exuberance! BP JB (2/0) 1 Horton & HortoN, Vetsbullies My Baby Does Me. All white girl of terrier type. Very shapely and well-made with excellent front and rear angulation. Short enough in back. Straight, gun barrel front. Feminine head with enough profile, good length and finish. She has decent width; might prefer a little more fill, but excellent piercing expression from tiny, well set eye and good earset. Correct mouth. Moved out well both ways and with reach and drive. A very smart young lady who was unlucky to come up against such stiff competition today in the challenge. 2 Preston, Ajaydenbull Rhythm Rider. Another smart white young lady. Not quite the upper arm and topline of 1 but good for substance. Straight, gun barrel front and stood on very good, tight, neat feet. Correct tailset and enough rear angulation. Pretty, feminine head with gentle turn and finish. Would prefer a little more fill. Good expression; not quite the eye of 1. Moved out well. LB (3/0) 1 Szewczyk, Quentinhill Chocolicious. Br/w girl who I really liked for her overall type, compactness and femininity, in a substantial package. She ticked a lot of boxes for me. Balanced and classy in outline, she also has a gorgeous head with length, finish and it is also filled right up. Excellent expression with small, triangular eye and ears right on top. Correct mouth. She has a shapely body with good length of neck into well laid shoulder, good return of upper arm, definite forechest, short back and excellent width of loin, topped off by correct tailset. Gun barrel front and put down in hard condition. Drove well around the ring and couldn’t deny her the RCC today in strong company. 2 Townend & Ball, Quentinhill Eye Galactica. Another quality girl with substance. Preferred the front construction and more compact outline of 1. Gun barrel front, correct tailset and tight feet. Feminine head with gentle unbroken profile and finish. Might prefer a touch more width of muzzle but super expression from small, well-set eye and ears bang on top. Moved out well. 3 Smithson & Smithson, Rebelside Mythical Moon At Phoenixscar (imp Hun) OB (4/2) 1 Mountain, Ch Bilboen Renaissance. Beautiful white girl with black ear from the top drawer. Screamed type. Superb head with sweeping profile, excellent length, fill and finish and good underjaw, topped off with super eye. Being super picky, might prefer ears a touch more on top. She has a classy outline with a strong neck of good length, into excellent shoulder and return of upper arm, giving a super forechest with elbows tucked in. She is deep through the brisket with a good underline which flowed into well angulated, strong quarters and a correct tailset. She could be a touch shorter in back, but happy to accept this in a bitch. Moved out well both ways and was well put down and presented. Her overall type and superb head took her to the CC today and she wasn’t far behind the dog in the BOB challenge. 2 Bradley, & Bradley, Eyeanna At Olliebrad. White with red eye patch. Another super quality bitch, well-made throughout, but not quite the front construction of 1. She has a good depth of brisket and clean underline. She could be a touch shorter in back but has a good width of loin and correct tailset. She has a beautiful, feminine head with great length, unbroken profile, good finish and enough fill, topped off with an excellent expression from keen, small, well set eye and good earset. Correct mouth. In great condition and well handled. Pushed hard in the challenge for RCC; I just preferred the style and compact nature of the brindle. Jane Peakin
