BULL NATIONAL TERRIER 09 Bull Terriers Judge/s:Dr Brian E Hill (Arcanum) Dog CC : ROBERST & GRIEVES' CH TEIRWYN SON OF A GUN AT MEILOW JW Bull Terriers Some wonderful quality dogs & sadly, some very poor ones too. Mouths are slightly worse than when I judged in this venue less than two years ago, & movements do not improve. On the bright side temperaments were generally excellent. The handlers were sporting, but many wanted to show in the corner of the ring & had to be persuaded into the centre – exhibitors, please remember that all of the spectators deserve a good view. PD (2) 1 Westwood’s Tulsadoom Abi Albon, already a heavyweight, white, good bone & substance, decent head with enough curve & fill for his age, correct mouth. Ears a bit on the side, shapely but loose, has a lot of maturing to tighten, movement fair in front but close behind; 2 Rowell’s Bullybruza Whirlwind Willy, nicely marked r/w but rather light in bone & very immature, would like a sharper eye & expression. JD (2) 1 Mellor’s Licorice Calhoun at Credetta, fairly well marked tri, nice bodylines though turns his toes out a bit. Would like more power in head & ears further up. Has correct mouth. Moved a bit wide in front & close behind; 2 Buckby’s Benjip Gentle Ben of Skjaldmarr, b/br/w, head has roman finish but a dip in centre profile & ears set on too low, one lower canine starting to press into gum, needs watching. Bodylines fair, rather untidy movement. ND (1) 1 Brown’s Meridienview Monkey Boy, br/w, reasonable profile with nice small eyes but needs more muzzle power & fill. Correct mouth, straight front with moderate stifle, happy dog, moved with drive. PGD (8,1) 1 Aherne’s Conrenian Dark Magican, nicely balanced tri, good head, well filled, nice eyes, good ear placement, lovely mouth, wide with big white teeth, pleasing bodylines & tail carriage, moved fairly well & with drive. RCC; 2 Quinn’s Padhen Abraham Of Lincoln, tri, fairly good head, sharp eyes, pincer bite, good topline & tail carriage. Fairly good movement but needs to tighten, still a bit immature; 3 Williams’ Merlinden Xcaliber. LD (2) 1 Dobbin & Van Eck’s Buster Black Ears at Debully, heavyweight white with powerful head & correct teeth, ear placement OK but would like a sharper eye. Shapely body, moved fairly well with drive. No award made: McCall & Britton’s Bossjespruit Northern Cool from Brumborder. OD (3) 1 Roberts & Grieves’ Ch Teirwyn Son Of A Gun at Meilow, r/w power packed & plumptious, fantastically powerful head with gently curving profile, nicely placed small eyes, well used ears, delightful expression, mouth has slipped to pincer bite, beautifully balanced dog with real bone & substance, demonstrated his correct make by moving very well & with tremendous drive, easily best mover of the day, when he is in the ring it is difficult to take your eyes off him & going over him made my day. CC & BOB by a wide margin; 2 Young’s Bullyview Screaming Eagle, top class white with attractive head, correct bite, pleasing bodylines. Moved parallel in front but rather close behind; 3 Welsby’s Sherrywells Red Dragon. MPB (5) 1 Heath & Morris’ Bluepoint Femme Fatale, white, quite shapely for age, nice profile, lovely glinting eye, fairly well placed ears, correct mouth, straight front, movement good for age, promising; 2 Martin & Hirst’s Yungwood Sweet Enchantment, br/w, nice youngster, better ear carriage than most which enhances her head, correct mouth, reasonably good movement; 3 Turner’s Allsturns Athena. PB (5,1) 1 Wright’s Rightstuff Re Made, elegant white, good head, scissor bite, straight front, good topline, tail carriage & quarters, movement good for age, promising; 2 Welsby’s Sherrywells Dragon Noir, nicely marked b/br/w, would like a longer foreface, better profile & expression. Has scissor bite & ears fairly well placed; straight front, good topline, quarters & tail, movement adequate for a youngster; 3 Iddon’s Bavazuela Persian Pearl. JB (5) 1 Tubb’s Elvroc Crazy Cracker at Gazannlou, nicely marked br/w of promise, curved profile, fair fill & scissor bite, expression helped by better placed ears than most, lovely neck flows into good shoulders, straight front, pleasing bodylines, moved with drive; 2 Pilkington’s Javarke Kwik Karbon, well marked b/br/w, full of verve, attractive head, small eye adds to sharp expression, correct mouth; straight front. Body shape spoilt by short upper arm which also spoils her front movement; 3 Salas’ Warnerdales Anamanic at Harrowhill. NB (5) 1 Blaire’s Terjo’s Here I Am at Megaville, well balanced white, nice expression, small eye, ears almost on top, scissor bite, shapely bodylines, correct tailset, moved well. BP; 2 Roff’s Bobuddy Enigma, white with coloured ears, curved profile & lovely expression spoiled by ears set on too low. Correct mouth though muzzle rather narrow. Reasonable topline & movement; 3 Woolliscroft & Bebbington’s Hillanvale Night Star. PGB (6,1) 1 Pilkington’s Wanna Be Posh at Javarke, pretty red, attractive head with good expression marred by ears not on top. Beautiful scissor bite, wide jaws & big teeth; long neck set into good shoulders, straight front, good topline, moved quite well, not always showing her elegance, should improve as she matures; 2 Foster’s Bilboen Received From Heaven, pleasing head with sharp expression aided by small eyes & ears quite well placed, better bone than 1 but not the elegance although good bodylines & fairly good movement; 3 Potter & Patterson’s Conreniam Crystal Clear by Golitha. LB (7,1) 1 Sewards’ Padhen Precious Pearl, well balanced r/w, top quality head with glinting eyes & well used ears almost on top, scissor bite, arched neck set into good shoulders, straight front, short back, nice quarters & correct tail carriage, moved well, well set down & handled, worthy winner of the CC; 2 Tinkler’s Inversu Solo Whisper at Danbull, white with long filled head & good expression, scissor bite, long neck flows into shapely body. A shade longer than 1, movement good in front but rather close behind. RCC; 3 Roberts’ Teirwyn Treacle Tart. OB (3) 1 Holt’s Sherrywells Nuzzle Muzzle of Eiramsel, white with two brindle eye patches, showed well but noisy, attractive bitch but needs just a little more power in head & jaw, quite good movement; 2 Cserfalvi-Young’s Ducassos Contrary Mary, quality head, curved & with good expression though marred by ears set too low. Scissor bite. Bodylines spoilt by short upper arm. Moved fairly well; 3 Karta’s Cause for Conspiracy at Karmara. BRIAN E HILL
