MINIATURE BULL JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 15

Miniature Bull Terriers

I would like to thank the officers & committee of The National for inviting me to judge my two favourite breeds at their show & for their excellent hospitality. My entry of 46 Miniatures was very pleasing & with just 6 absent gave me, in some classes, some very difficult decisions! I last judged 3 years ago & although we have had the DNA test now for some time, size is still a problem, but one which I feel is slowly getting better. As before I feel the bitches were stronger in depth with the Open Bitch class full of quality which bodes well for the breed! First & foremost I was looking for a show dog with attitude coupled with breed type & felt that all my winners had this in abundance!

PD (2)

1 Hearne & Singleton’s Warbonnet Magnum PI, 7 months white with black ears, up to size pup with a lovely well filled powerful head with great profile & wicked eye, slight mouth fault. Well set ears, well arched neck & good well sprung ribs. Correct tail carriage, good round bone down to tidy feet. Put down in lovely hard condition. Moved well once settled, pleased to award him BP;

2 Nelson’s Badlesmere Blown Away at Stemone, 7 months br/w, different type to 1 & not so mature but with lots to like. Good head & eye with enough profile, good strong neck & shoulder with correct topline & good tailset. Preferred the head of 1 but one to watch for the future.

JD (5)

1 Llewellyn’s Bullypins Klassikos, b/br/w, my star of the day! Lovely dog from all angles in pristine condition, spot on the measure & showed correct balance to size, a real Bull Terrier in miniature, powerful masculine head with turn & fill, slight mouth fault, ears bang on top which he used well. Long strong neck to good shoulders & topline, tail well set & movement true for & aft & in typical jaunty style & best of the class! Showed like a bomb! Pleased to award him his first CC, I’m sure his title will soon follow!

2 Kettleborough’s Quayardson Sir Draco at Bullysoul, r/w, a little longer in back than 1 & not the head but still a nice example with a good head well filled with enough profile, mouth fault, well-shaped dark eye & nice small ears which he used well! Nice neck into well laid shoulder, well-let down behind, moved OK & at one with his handler;

3 Lewis’ Lafenice Joey Tribiani.

PGD (3)

1 Lambert’s Grandopera Didier Drogba of Calibar, br/w, a little over the measure with a powerful head with turn & fill but carrying a mouth fault. Ears on top which he used well. Nice dark well set eye & with a good strong neck & shoulder with correct topline & good tailset, nice round bone down to tidy feet, moved & handled well. Pushed hard for the RCC;

2 Price’s Thrydings Longshanks, different type to 1 with an OK head lacking a little in profile. Good neck into well laid shoulder, nice body shape & well set tail. Would like a little more bone. Moved & handled well;

3 White & Kocaba’s Mini Rumpus Nanook Bear.

LD (4)

1 Shaw’s Badlesmere Bygones, white with black ear, a little over the measure, in good condition, nice head with good profile & well filled under lovely wicked eyes, short back & well set tail, moved best of class once he was settled. Another that pushed hard for top honours which I’m sure will come his way;

2 Cserfalvi-Young’s Ducassos Coeur De Lion, another nice dog with a good head with enough profile & a perfect mouth. Well set ears bang on top, nice dark eye. Good shoulders & bone down to tidy feet. Tailset a little high. Moved & handled well;

3 Boyne’s Decadance Dauntless at Boannadeen.

OD (5)

1 Phillips’ Bullyon Back To The Measure, dark br/w who was good for size, short cobby body with good head shape, has a slight mouth fault, well set ears which he used well, lovely dark eye & correct shape . A well balanced dog that moved well coming & going. RCC;

2 Peacher & Lambert’s Lafenice Tamino of Caliber, br/w with an OK head & perfect mouth. A little longer in back than 1. A little over the measure but well balanced, well set ears used well, nice round bone down to tidy feet, moved well;

3 Fletcher’s Int Ch Canabull North Wind.

PB (3)

1 Jackson’s Warbonnet Mamma Mia, white with ear patches, a little over the measure, lovely feminine head, correct eye shape, ears bang on top which she used well, slight mouth fault, good neck leading to well laid shoulder & with a well set tail, nice round straight bone to good feet, moved & handled well, one to watch!

2 Draper’s Badlesmere Black Dahlia, b/br, different type to 1, a real baby but has everything going for her, good for size with a feminine head with enough turn & fill, dark eye & well set ears. Just needs to mature on, another for the future!

3 Harrison’s Jenkir Aphrodite.

JB (3)

1 Plumley & Wylie’s Tuskenada Anais Anais with Transcend, all white ultra-feminine bitch, good for size, with a good head with turn & fill, well set ears, mouth OK, short back, well set tail, enough bone to tidy feet would like a better shoulder & topline. Well-handled to bring out the best in her;

2 Preddy’s Natadia Silver Sea, all white, different type to 1, more terrier than bull. A little over the measure but with a wicked eye & good mouth, profile OK, nice body shape with straight round bone to good feet, well set tail, a little longer in back than 1. Moved OK;

3 Shipp’s Duvessa Gaia.

PGB (4)

1 Shaw’s Badlesmere Beaucoup, all white terrier type who was good for size, good head with turn & fill, correct mouth & with good eye shape, ears bang on top which she used well, short back with well-set tail, nice round straight bone to good feet, moved OK once settled. Pushed hard for RCC. Just preferred the animation of my winner;

2 Richardson’s Little White Lie at Quayardson, all white ultra-feminine bitch put down in lovely condition for a 6 year old & belying her age! Nice head shape but would prefer a little more profile, good neck & shoulder into a nice short back, correct tail carriage, well-let down behind moved & handled well. Just preferred the mouth of 1;

3 Kettleborough’s Wengormick Petite Pandora at Bullysoul.

LB (8)

1 Bromant-Lothary & McGregor’s Zozo Bonsai Von Amadis, b/br/w put down in lovely condition, nice head shape. Very feminine with a sweeping profile with good fill. Mouth correct. Would like a better earset. Lovely reach of neck, straight front with good round bone & neat feet & with well angulated quarters. Moved better in front than behind;

2 Glass’ Angels Warriors Tiny Forever, showy r/w, OK for size, unexaggerated attractive head with enough turn & fill, mouth OK & complemented with a wicked eye for a coloured, moved best of class;

3 Bennett & Pickering’s Quayardson Lady Delacour.

OB

Without doubt the best class of the day with lovely dogs having to go down the line which I’m sure would change on another day.

1 Hughes’ Graymor Glacial Dawn, ultra-feminine Bull Terrier in miniature. Lovely balance to size without exaggeration. Super head filled & turned with one of the best mouths of the day & ears bang on top which she used well! Really well made throughout. Nice short back with correct well set tail & carriage which as a breed we seem to be losing! Super straight front with round bone down to cat feet. Moved parallel coming & going. Pleased to award her third CC & BOB. Represented our breed so well in the Group!

2 Hearne & Singleton’s Arcazy Uptown Girl by Warbonnet, lovely upstanding tri who looked good from all angles, in pristine condition, although a little over the measure showed correct balance to size, powerful yet feminine head with turn & fill & with the best profile of the day which unfortunately probably accounted for the mouth fault, ears bang on top which she used well, most wicked of expressions attained by desired eye shape, long strong neck to good shoulders & short back with good topline held well on move which was true fore & aft. Pleased to award her the RCC in what was stiff competition;

3 Shaw’s Badlesmere Bourre.
