MINIATURE BULL EAST OF ENGLAND 11 Judge(s) DR B E HILL BD DECADANCE DEFENDER (MR M DODWELL) Min Bull Terriers All but one well over the measure, after all the interbreeding it will take generations to breed down to the desired size. However, interbreeding has undoubtably brought about a revolution in quality & breeders must take care not to lose the quality as well as the inches. I am astonished that misplaced canines are not on breed watch, but in accordance with KC guidelines asking judges to penalise features which are detrimental to soundness, health or welfare, I withheld awards from two dogs. So long as judges ignore teeth problems, those problems will persist. PD (1) 1 Richardson’s Quayardson Sir Arthur, bl/br/w, powerful head with good expression, correct mouth, beautiful teeth, ears on top, straight front but rather upright making him look longer than he is. Fairly good topline, quarters & tail carriage, fair movement, should improve with maturity; 2 Llewellyn’s Stone Cold’s Elvis by Bullypins, nicely marked bl/br/w, moderate head with correct mouth. Rather long in body. Fairly good movement; 3 Redpath’s Manduessedum Re Vittorio. PGD (0). LD (1) 1 Dodwell’s Decadance Defender, bl/br/w, nice collar, good head with lovely wide jaws, slightly kind eye, ears on top, straight front, quite good topline, quarters & tail carriage, good movement both ways. RCC. OD (5) 1 Shaw’s Badlesmere Beast Released, solid bl/br, lovely expression helped by well placed eyes & ears on top, scissor bite. Rather upright in front. Topline & tail carriage fair, moved reasonably. RBD. Other awards in this class withheld. PB (0). JB (5) 1 Shaw’s Badlesmere Bee Witched, white with brindle eye patch, attractive head with good expression, correct mouth, well used ears, straight front but a bit upright, needs longer upper arm. Reasonable topline & tail carriage, fairly good movement; 2 Vicker’s Duvessa Devil Wears Prada, solid brindle with nice expression, well used ears, fair profile & correct mouth, good topline & tail carriage. Would like better quarters. Rear movement good, front average; 3 Hopkins & Taylor’s Manduessedum Re Caballe. PGB (2) 1 Phillips’ Ducassos Clear Measure of Bullyon, white, smoothly curved & filled head, nice eye, well used ears, scissor bite, well made & nicely balanced, correct tail carriage, easily the best mover of the day. CC. LB (2) 1 Lambert’s Glenmorangie of Caliber, white, curved profile, sharp eye, well used ears & scissor bite, front marred by short upper arm. Good topline & quarters, correct tailset, movement behind good but front slightly out at elbow & toeing in; 2 Hemstock & Rowe’s solid bl/br, correct mouth & good expression, low set ears detract. Front not quite right so moved out at elbow & toed in. Rear movement fairly good. OB (3) 1 McGregor’s Bullypins Millima of Merlinden, br/w, good head & expression though ears not quite on top, scissor bite, well built with straight front, good topline, quarters & tailset. Shade long in body which spoils balance. Moved well both ways & with drive, pretty girl. RBB; 2 Shaw’s Badlesmere Bookworm, solid brindle with slight blaze on muzzle & chest, good head with pleasing expression, though ears low set. Correct mouth. Rather long in relation to height, average movement. Dr BRIAN E HILL |
