Cairn Terriers

Just a few general comments, all mouths were OK apart from one with only five bottom teeth. Most heads I found good, toplines were particularly excellent & shoulders clean with correct layback. However a few, otherwise nice Cairns, were overweight & not trimmed sufficiently. ‘Rugged but not ragged’ is the phrase, some were definitely on the ragged side. Movement was in most cases OK & I think is improving. I was sorry to hear that 2 exhibitors were prevented from attending due to medical emergencies.

PD (2,1a)

1 Percy's Winetta What The Heck, ultra smart pup, wheaten brindle. Full of personality for one so young. Balanced & typy. I particularly liked his level topline & his reach & flow of neck. Presented in good coat & condition. Everything else OK. Happy showman, wagging his tail all the time. A good future prospect. BPD.

ND (2)

1 Smith's Rocasovale Danish Delight, a balanced dark brindle male, clean outline with an adequate length of neck. Good bone, good harsh coat. True mover both front & rear. When he uses his ears he really looks the part;

2 Dodds' Birselaw Stand With Me, copper brindle with an excellent profuse coat. A very nice Cairn but unfortunately he was far too heavy & as a result his movement was not what it should have been.

PGD (3,1)

1 Smith's Rocasovale Distant Drums, nicely balanced light copper brindle, broad skull & correct earset, strong masculine head. Good bone, well made throughout. He moved with drive & showed with animation;

2 Lamb & Saltmarsh's Birselaw Dark Charmer, nice sized Cairn, attractive head, level topline, strong back. Well muscled thighs. A nice Cairn but unfortunately in his undercoat today.

LD (4,1)

1 Percy's Winetta Sir Ivor, smart dark brindle, excellent coat texture. I liked his head which is attractive but masculine at the same time & he has that wonderful Cairn expression. Stood foursquare which highlighted his correct balance. Level topline, attentive showman, moved OK;

2 Parkin's Carradine My Mate Matthew, good head on this light g/br. Straight front & correct shoulders. Conformation OK but he appeared somewhat sluggish today. In good coat & condition;

3 Miller's Cornton Dark Corrie.

OD (4)

A good class.

1 Shaw's Ch Honeyhall Headboy, soundly made throughout with a lovely head, broad skull, deep stop, powerful jaw, expressive eyes. Easily identifiable as a quality male. Correct lay of shoulder, deep in rib. Level back, topline kept on the move. I particularly liked his strong rear movement, he simply drove out so well behind. Pleased to award him CC & BOB;

2 Inett, Harrison, King & Leighton's Ch Carradine George Flies with Harkinleigh, another worthy champion who was presented to perfection, in good harsh coat. I liked his size & balance. Well made throughout, just preferred the movement of Headboy. RCC;

3 Waites' Ch Svendalens Snow Knight.

VD (4)

1 Smith's Ch Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle, ultra showy veteran, presented in excellent harsh coat & condition. He's fit there's no doubt about that, strong body, nice flow of neck, good bone. His head is my type of head, strong, attractive & masculine. Lovely dog. BV;

2 Lamb & Saltmarsh's Birselaw Fable of Macmoon, dark g/br with the best of heads. Lovely expression. Well made, lively & happy. Very good mover both ways. Coat could do with a bit of a tidy up;

3 Bateman & Sach’s Dandi Boy Spud.

PB (5,1)

A nice class of puppies but some did not seem to be enjoying themselves on the day. They were all young & so hopefully their confidence will come with age.

1 Percy's Winetta I've Got A Feeling, I would very much like to take this one home with me! She is balanced & typy & well made. Head is good with a deep stop & expressive eyes. She carried her head well & used her ears. Her topline was level & she kept it on the move & she also carried her tail well. Moved really well for one so young & won BP over the dog on the excellent rear movement;

2 Wishart's Winetta Daisy Jane, very feminine dark brindle in good coat of correct texture. Adequate length & flow of neck, lovely head. A very nice pup who was unlucky to meet winner on the day. She is a lovely pup & just needs to be more confident in the ring;

3 Wishart's Winetta Meant To Be.

PGB (5)

1 Thomas' Tycadno Morning Star, well balanced, feminine, light g/br bitch. The best of heads, deep stop, correct eye. Ears well carried. Straight front, correct lay of shoulder Level topline, strong rear, adequate bone. Moved with drive, attentive to handler, showed well. Pleased to award her the CC;

2 Waites' Specially Designed By Svendalens, feminine wheaten with a lovely reach & flow of neck, no stuffiness. Excellent double coat. Level topline & good tailset. Showed very well, moved true. RCC;

3 Miller's Cornton Rosemaree.

1 Dawson's Sybster Sauvignon, 8 year old in good condition, fit & enjoying her day. A cream with a lovely head, good bone & correct double, profuse coat. Animated mover.
