CAIRN BOSTON 25 Judge: Mrs Janet Robertson (Renevis) Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at their Championship show. An extremely well run show, with very friendly helpers. Thanks to my efficient stewards, Michelle and Catherine and special thanks to the exhibitors who entered under me, who accepted my decisions with good sportsmanship. MPD (1) 1 Thomass Tycadno Starburst. This alert 6 month cream male is a very promising puppy with good overall balance. Liked his masculine head of good proportions with a definite stop, almond shaped eyes set wide apart and ears set correctly using them very well. He has a visible fore chest, body of medium length. He stood well forward on front feet turned out slightly. Put in a confident performance for one so young. PD (1) 1 Lucas & Tobutts Carradine Sir Percival. A 10 month Red/Brindle who is carrying a little too much weight. A balanced head with plenty stop, ears set fairly high and very alert, broad skull but felt his eyes were too prominent which did spoil his expression. Good neck into well placed shoulders, plenty fore chest and front feet slightly turned out. Well ribbed. Good front movement keeping topline on the go. Would prefer a harsher top coat. PGD (4) 1. Mundays Furythor Reluctant Villian. This dark brindle is a right showman with lots to like about him. Super head of good proportions, small very dark eyes, ears spot on, plenty stop, good bite. Moved with ease, reaching out in front and plenty drive in rear. Kept topline on the move. Correct tail set and carriage. Good harsh coat. 2. Sinclair & Tothills Tycadno Quick Shot. Beautifully coloured Wheaten with a good coat. Good head with correct stop, ears and small eye. Correct mouth with strong jaw. Good length of neck, visible fore chest with correct width of brisket. Strong and level back but tail too gay. Moves well in rear. 3. Lamb & Saltmarshs Tycadno Shining Star around MacMoon JW LD (3) 1. Griffithss Wonderpaws Obi Wan Kenobi. Difficult class to judge with different types. Liked this 26 month Wheaten who is a very well balanced male and he showed well. Too much product on his head which was a distraction. Lovely firm, flexible back of medium length. Tail carriage and set was very good, along with strong rear quarters, resulting in strong propulsive rear movement. RBD 2. Lucas & Tobutts Seveek Country Lad. Such a happy and alert chap, enjoying his time in the ring. His absolutely gorgeous small dark eyes won me over. Good head and body proportions with a level back. Found him to be very heavily built and would prefer more length of neck. Correct tail carriage and moved well at rear. Correct double-coated with a harsh top coat. 3. Inett, Harrison & Batemans Carradine My Way Lenny OD (2,1A) 1 Yates-Johnsons CH Pendley Seafarer. Masculine cairn who has a striking Red/ Brindle colour. Small head but in proportion to body. Expressive small eyes, good neat ears, plenty stop. Neck of good length. He kept his topline on the move. Moved very well both ways covering the ground with ease. BD V (1) 1 Lamb & Saltmarshs Birselaw Come Dancing with MacMoon OSW JW ShCEx ShCM. Workmanlike with a natural not overdone appearance. Liked his level back and tail set and carriage. Plenty fore chest, good rear angulation, dark eye and harsh brindle coloured coat. BV GCD (2) 1. Sinclair & Tothills Tycadno Quick Shot. See PG. 2. Parkins Mosspur Into The Shadows. MPB Waughs Tribannon Nancy Lou. First time out at 6 months, this cream took it all in her stride. Liked her body, of medium length with well sprung ribs and a level back. Good tail set and quality of coat for her age. PB (4) 1. Firths Glenrood Silent Whisperer at Cairngold. Lovely 10 month Wheaten who has a feminine head which was broad with everything in the right position producing a typical expression. Correct length of neck and lay of shoulders. Well ribbed, level back which she kept on the move. Hard to assess front movement but rear was good. BP 2. Hiam & Hartops Carradine Hazel Moon. Another quality pup, who is Red and of good size and balance throughout. Correct slightly domed head which is well proportioned with correct set eyes but would prefer them smaller. Good front and length of neck, back level which she kept on the move. Moved and showed well, showing the typical cairn active characteristic. Good outer coat but lacked undercoat. Close decision between these two attractive 10 month bitches, just preferred the head and the more robust appearance of 1. 3. Waughs Tribannon Rose Pixie JB (2) 1. Firths Cairngold Claim To Fame. Loved this dark brindle 16 month old bitch who has a natural foxy appearance. She is feminine and compactly built and well balanced throughout. Her head is small, with small, dark, expressive eyes well positioned, correct small pointed, erect ears which she used well. Mouth and bite good. She carried her head proudly on a good length of neck, onto correct lay of shoulders. Back was level and of correct length, well sprung ribs. Soundly made which resulted in true drive and clean movement. BB. BOB 2. Waughs Tribannon Angels Kiss. Another lovely bitch, bigger and a darker brindle colour than 1. She has a pleasing small head full of expression with her dark head colour and those appealing eyes. She has sufficient height of leg to body proportions. Level back, correct tail position and carriage. Showed well. PGB (3,1A) 1. Testers Airytykes Just Mischief. Nice overall shape to this grey/brindle bitch. Plenty stop, good dark eye, would prefer her ears to have more width. Correct width of brisket, feet slightly turned out. Good harsh coat. 2. Purviss Mosspur Moving Shadows. A wheaten bitch who is bigger with a longer cast than 1. She has lovely shaped eyes and ears which she used very well. In good jacket. LB (5,1A) 1. Felters & Rumenss Landbuck Amethyst. Liked this wheaten/brindle who is balanced, feminine and full of breed type. She had the best fronts today and her rear quarters are well angulated and muscled. A sweet expression using her ears very well and plenty stop. Correct spring of rib and she moved well both ways. In good coat. RBB 2. Mundays Furythor Marvel at Me. A spunky, alert lady who has good outlines. She stands well forward on her front legs with plenty fore chest. Bigger than 1 but balanced. She has a good neckline, flowing over withers to a level back. Tail set and carriage good. Moved well. 3. Saichs Lindcoly Singing Angela VB (2,1A) 1 Testers Airytykes Excuse Me. Very attentive 8 year old who showed well. She has a good mouth, lovely dark eyes and she used her ears very well. Liked her overall shape with a good length of neck, correct front and length of body with a level back. Tail at correct position. Janet Robertson (Renevis) |
