CAIRN CRUFTS 17 Cairn Terrier CAIRN JUDGE CRUFTS 17 Cairn Terriers It was a great honour to judge my breed at Crufts. I starts showing Cairns in my late 20s, then judging Crufts was just a dream, now it’s a treasured memory. My thanks to my amazing stewards, they were so organised, making my day run very smoothly. Most of all thank you to the exhibitors from home & abroad, without them there would be no Crufts. In general I was very pleased with my entry. A few level bites, some presentation left a lot to be desired, a few needed a good bath. I was delighted with my top winners. The BOB looking great in the group, moving effortlessly around the ring, showing immaculate outline, I was so proud! VD (12,4a) 1 Shopland’s Ch Cherrycrack Blackadder, 8½ year old dark brindle, nicely balanced, lovely head, good outline that he kept well on the move, worthy champion; 2 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable of Macmoon, 9 years old, good honest Cairn, typical head & expression, steady showman, moved well; 3 Morley’s Kedvaiy Locomotion. PD (3) 1 Day’s Trekhilli Pepperazzi, 10 ½ year old, smart typy dark brindle, beautiful head & expression, well balanced, best of neck & shoulders, good mover, pleased to award him BP; 2 Gut’s Leroy of Black Rock, 11½ month old wheaten with dark points, smart showman, moved well, holding good topline; 3 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Aladdin Sane. JD (3,1) 1 Ball’s Lentrica Let’s Dance at Calamondin, 13 month old, well made, nicely balanced, excellent mover, great outline, needs more coat, his day will come; 2 Carter & Clarke’s Lentrica Rocket Man at Carernwil, litter brother to 1, very similar, nice head, good mover, strong outline, preferred balance of 1. YD (10,1) 1 RCC, Waugh’s Tribuns Licorice Coin at Tribannon, 18 month old dark brindle, a dog I have admired from the ringside, love his type, good head, super neck, shoulders & topline, holds himself well on the move, goes so freely round the ring, a very appealing quality dog, who has time on his side, was pleased to award him RCC; 2 Knoepfli’s Hjohoo’s Hjo’Re Such A Pleasure, another 18 month old, eyecatching silver/br, very smart, lovely outline, very good mover, nice head, great showman; 3 Shopland’s Trekhilli Mr Bean at Cherrycrack. PGD (13) 1 Mears’ Glenmear McIntyre, I was very taken with this r/br typical male, put down in immaculate coat & condition, excels in outline, free moving, lovely head & expression, showed all out; 2 Anderson’s Birselaw Never Say Never at Kerrykeel, silver/br, lovely head, liked his make & shape, moved well; 3 Miller’s Cornton Dark Corrie. LD (11) 1 Hughes & Hooton’s Gyncairn Magical Mystery, lovely wheaten, typical of his breeding, put down to perfection, immaculate coat & condition, stunning head with melting expression, super topline, tailset, best neck & shoulders, moved round the ring with drive, showing non stop, delighted to award him the CC; 2 Jarvinen’s Cairnsters Mr Don Juan, very smart dark brindle, great showman, typical head, strong outline, excellent mover, eyecatching dog; 3 Waites’ Svendalens Perserverance at Lentrica. OD (12) Excellent class. 1 Thomas’ Ch/Ir Ch Tycadno I Spy, top winning dog, every inch a champion, loveliest of heads, strong outline, well presented, neck, shoulders, topline, he has it all, feeling the heat today; 2 Shaw’s Ch Honeyhall Headboy, always admired this top winning dog, another well deserved champion, great presence, super outline, beautiful head, extrovert showman who moves with ease, a little short of coat on the day; 3 Kinton’s Ch Woodthorpe I Know The Code. GCD (4) 1 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There And Back Again under Macmoon; 2 Morley’s Kedvaiy Locamotion, smart dark brindle, lovely head, moved & showed well; 3 Torpey’s Anglycairn The Real Thing. VB (6) 1 Byrne’s Little Miss Tonka; 2 Thompson’s Ch Castleline Bonnie; 3 Torpey’s Anglyairn The Real Thing. MPB (1) 1 Peers’ Tweedisle Bonnie Lassie, 7 month old dark brindle, very typy puppy, appealing head & expression, good outline, moved well. PB (6,3) 1 Petts’ Brenndarcy Hunky Dory among Doonrae, 11 month old red, who stood out in this class, cheeky miss, super outline, topline & tailset bang on, lovely head. BPB; 2 Miller’s Cornton Star Turn, 10 month old wheaten, loved her balance & outline, typical head, moved & showed well, just needs a new coat; 3 Keeves’ Seveek with Svendalens Dreaming Again. JB (8,1) 1 Yates & Johnson’s Pendley Vivien, eyecatching wheaten showgirl with immaculate outline that she holds so well as she moves so freely round the ring, in super coat & condition, a quality young bitch, pleased to award her the RCC; 2 Smith’s Cannwood Misty Dawn at Gethlee, wheaten with typical head & expression, nicely balanced, good neck & shoulders, moved well; 3 Percy’s Winetta I’ve Got A Feeling. YB (11,1) 1 Catto’s Birselaw Paige Turner, dark brindle in profuse coat, personality plus, beautiful head, strong outline, well balanced, moved & showed well; 2 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Cloudbusting, smart light red, excellent topline, tailset, nice head, outgoing showgirl, moving freely round the ring; 3 Jarvinen’s Cairnsters Miss Dita von Teese. PGB (13,2) 1 Morley’s Cannwood Here’s Hetty, lovely silver/br often admired from ringside, just right for balance, neck, shoulders, topline & tailset, pretty head, just wish she showed with more verve; 2 Osborn’s Tweslam Gimme Gimme Magic, nice headed red bitch, like her length of back to leg, good topline & tailset, true mover, showed well; 3 Miller’s Cornton Rosemaree. LB (16,3) 1 Robinson’s Cruzo Capriole, outstanding beautifully balanced silver/br, lovelisest of heads, neck, shoulders, topline all correct, very free mover, shows non stop, put down to perfection, quality bitch, pleased to award her CC & BOB; 2 Theodorsson’s Hjohoo’s Hjo’Re My Lovey Dovey, nicest of heads, out & out showgirl, strong outline, one of the best movers of the day; 3 Thomas’ Tycadno Miss Moneypenny. OB (21,5) 1 Robinson’s Ch Cruzo Corn Bunting, another quality bitch from this kennel, wheaten/br, with stunning head, lovely balance, great outline, well presented, in good coat & condition; 2 Owen’s Ch Caldwall Call The Shots, nicely balanced, typical feminine head, good outline, liked her a lot, lacking in coat; 3 Jarvinen’s Dan/Hr/Int Ch Cairnsters Hard Candy.
