CAIRN JUDGE DRIFFIELD 17

I very much enjoyed judging the Cairns today. A small but quality entry. The muddy and wet ground conditions stopped many from higher placements as you had to move with drive to cover the ground. The lack of puppies is disappointing for the future of the breed.

JD (2)

1 Reeves' Cairngold Bubbles. Light red, liked his typical head and expression, neat ears and dark points. Excels in front. Shoulders and topline. Very well balanced outline and tailset. Moved well when settled.

2 Owen's Caldwall Call To Order. Well grown wheaten dog. Masculine head, good spring of rib and body. Correct tailset, coat not at its best today.

YD (1)

1 Owen's Caldwall On Call.

PGD (2)

1 Ball's Lentrica Let's Dance At Calamondin. Wheaten, attractive head and expression, dark points. Balanced outline, excellent front and shoulders. Moved well both ways. Short of coat today but will do well when ready.

2 Day's Trekhilli Pepperazzi. Dark brindle, bigger dog than first. Nice shape, good reach of neck. Level topline. Showed well. Front movement ok but close behind.

LD (1)

1 Shannon & Storr's Brenndarcy Tinsoldat. Red, beautiful head and expression, neat ears, dark points, good neck and shoulders, topline and tailset. Moved ok, in correct textured coat and condition. Showed well, RCC.

OD (3, 2)

1 Mears' Glenmear Mcintyre. Dark brindle. This dog's outline was outstanding on the table. Excelled in head, reach of neck and topline. Plenty of bone and spring of rib. In good coat of correct texture. Showed well and moved very well when settled. Pleased to award him CC.

MPB (2, 1)

1 Keeves' Seveek With Corynthean Sharing Dreams. 6 months wheaten with pretty head, dark eyes, neat ears and correct mouth. Still very immature as would be expected and movement difficult to assess. Needs more lead training and time.

JB (4)

A strong class.

1 Firth's Cairngold Carolina. Typical and well balanced, feminine and neat head with good stop. Level topline and well carried tail. Won this class on movement. Showed well, coat of good texture. Close up for RCC.

2 Petts' Brenndarcy Hunky Dory Among Doonrae. Another promising bitch, attractive head. Very good neck and shoulders contributing to her good front movement. In good coat and condition.

3 Miller's Cornton Starr Turn.

YB (2)

1 Felters & Rumens' Lentrica Fame At Landbuck & 2, Firth's Lentrica Black Star For Cairngold. Just thought how alike these two were, only to see from the catalogue that they are litter sisters! Both wheaten brindle at the moment, with lovely dark points. First was Fame, well made body and correct length of coat and texture. Both have good fronts and shoulders but preferred the hindquarters of first.

PGB (1)
1 Smith's Cannwood Misty Dawn At Gethlee. Wheaten, well balanced with excellent topline and tailset. Moved well both ends. Should win well when coat is ready.

LB (2)

1 Shannon & Storr's Brenndarcy Cloudbusting. A lovely, typey bitch. Full of character which shows in her head and expression. Good front, neck, shoulders and topline. In good coat and condition. RCC.

2 Miller's Cornton Rosemaree. Bitch of high quality and type. Beautiful head with dark points. Well made body and balance. In lovely coat of correct texture. Showed very well. Hind movement lacked drive in the poor conditions today.

OB (3)

1 Coates' Penticharm Starlight. Grey brindle with very dark points. Beautiful head and expression. Balanced outline and well made throughout. In excellent coat and condition. Showed and moved with enthusiasm. Pleased to award her CC& BOB.

2 Keeves' Seveek Wishes N' Dreams JW ShCM. Red brindle, nice head with dark points, neat ears and correct shaped eyes and expression. Well balanced and in good coat. Moved ok but the ground was really terrible by the time judging had finished.

3 McGrath & Inett's Carradine Tinkerbelle For Owenreagh.
