CAIRN JUDGE LEEDS 19

Many thanks to my two stewards for their efficient running of the ring. On the day I felt the males had the edge on quality over the bitches. Temperaments were excellent and overall the cairns present were typical examples of the breed. The grass in the ring was far too long and this made movement hard to access as many of the dogs found it difficult to cope with.

PD (1)

1 Felters & Rumen’s Landbuck Kingdom. Smart red brindle puppy who is just coming up to a year old, in correct textured double coat, has an attractive head with dark points, good length of neck, good topline and level back, moved well, excellent showman who certainly has plenty of attitude, Best Puppy.

JD (1)

1 Pett’s Doonrae Quiet Storm. Wheaten brindle in good textured double coat, attractive head with dark points, well balanced, good reach of neck flowing into level topline, moved well once he settled, he is a rangy teenager at the moment, just needs a bit of time to fill out.

PGD (2)

1 Keeves’ Seveek Treasure The Dream. Showy wheaten in good double coat, has an attractive head with correct eye and neat ears, nice size, well balanced throughout, he moved ok once he had settled to the job in hand.

2 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Baldrick. Dark brindle with a lovely headpiece, in excellent double coat, handles well on the table but loses shape on the move as not really co-operating with handler; this also made it hard to assess movement.

LD (1)

1 Firth’s Cairngold Chico. Nicely presented red with a harsh double coat, keen expression, good length of neck, good topline and tailset, kept his outline on the move and standing, very smart quality boy but for top honours I just preferred the heads and expressions of my ticket winners.

OD (4)

1 Waugh’s Ch Tribannon Karamak. Quality youngster with the most lovely head and true Cairn expression, good reach of neck and layback of shoulder, level topline and good tailset, moved with drive and style, keeping his outline on the move and when standing, though not in the best of coats his other attributes outweighed this temporary condition and I was pleased to award him the CC and BOB.

2 Percy’s Ch Winetta Quest For Fame. Well presented dark brindle, classic head with dark eye and neat ears, giving that intense expression so sought after, good construction throughout with right amount of bone, moved correctly both ways, coped really well with the long grass, close up to first, RCC.

3 Ball’s Lentrica Let’s Dance At Calamondin.

PB (1)

1 Osborn’s Tweslam Chasing Rainbows. Dark brindle, 9 months old, sweet feminine head and expression, dark eye and neat ears, good neck, topline and tailset, in good coat and condition, moved ok both ways and handled the long grass very well for one so young.

JB (4, 2)

1 Yates-Johnson’s Pendley Dinah. Wheaten brindle, lovely headed bitch with mischievous expression, good reach of neck, level topline and good tailset, well balanced, not yet in full coat but good coat coming, very stylish on the move and also keeps her outline when standing, smart showgirl, RCC.

2 Keeves’ Seveek Cherry’s Dream. Red, another not in full coat but well textured coat coming in, good head with dark points, well balanced with nice bone, not co-operating with her handler on the grass so made it hard to assess movement.

PGB (2)

1 Shopland’s Tycadno Penny Black For Cherrycrack. Dark brindle, beautiful headed bitch with intense expression, well constructed throughout and was in excellent coat and condition, moved ok once settled.

2 Lund’s Cairngold Brandy Snap. Red, nicely proportioned bitch that showed really well, good coat coming in, holds her shape on the move, just preferred head and expression of first.

LB (5)

1 Percy’s Winetta I’ve Got A Feeling, quality dark brindle with the most gorgeous head and expression, good stop and bite, excellent reach of neck flowing into lovely layback of shoulder, nice size, balanced, moved true both ways and is a fine example of the breed, on top of that an excellent showgirl, CC.

2 Firth’s Cairngold Carolina. Red brindle, pretty headed bitch with dark points, nicely built throughout with good bone, good neck, topline and tailset, in excellent coat and condition, not quite the showmanship of first.

3 Oldale’s Tweslam Voodoo Child.

OB (2)

1 Soper’s Elitecharm Five Of Diamonds. Wheaten bitch, has a lovely head with dark points, true cairn expression, nice outline and well constructed throughout, correct size, in excellent coat and condition, showed steadily, moved ok in front but a little close behind, pressed hard for the RCC.

VB (2)

1 Petts’ Ch Doonrae Lexicon Of Love. Wheaten brindle coming up to 8 yrs, most attractive head with correct eye and neat ears, good neck, topline and tailset, was in a lovely well presented coat, she is a nice sized bitch who was enjoying herself and showed really well.

2 Smith’s Glenmear Sproxton Lass Of Gethlee. Dark brindle, 9 years old, nice shape with good bone, in full coat of correct texture, not moving well on the grass.
