CAIRN PAIGNTON 15 Judge: Mr I Shaw BEST OF BREED : 1412 THOMAS Mr G Ch Tycadno I Spy CAIRN JUDGE PAIGNTON 15 Cairn Terriers I would like to thank the officers & committee for this kind invitation to judge at this well run show & to my two stewards who did a super job keeping the ring flowing & me in check. I thought that the males were quite straight forward & was very happy with my winners, there is also lots of potential in some of the youngsters & in the future I would not be surprised if some changed places. I found the bitches to be a real challenge, some who took my eye on the floor but disappointed on the table, either they were far too heavy, lacked bone & substance or did not have the head & expressions I was looking for & this is something I just cannot compromise on. It is a bonus if you get a good moving well constructed Cairn but without the head it’s just another terrier & as expected temperaments were super, no shy ones & most were of a happy disposition, thank you for accepting my decisions in a very sporting like manner. MPD (3,1a) 1 Keeves’ Seveek I Spied That Dream, red, lovely headed youngster, good neck & shoulders, level topline & tailset, moved soundly when settled, good coat qualities, very much a baby; 2 Kippen’s Carradine Dee Jay, r/b, more mature than 1, but not the head, super condition, needs to tighten up in front, very happy showman of a good size. PD (3) 1 Mear’s Glenmear McIntyre, very impressed with this youngster who was a bit unsure of himself in the enclosed surroundings, completely stripped out with nothing to hide, super head & expression, very good in movement when he settled, spot on for body & will only improve with maturity. BPD; 2 C Dee Jay; 3 Alexander’s Cloverbrook Crack The Code. JD (7) 1 Innet, Harris, King & Leighton’s Carradine George Flies with Harkinleigh, eyecatching youngster with a good head & expression, a joy to watch moving around the ring, needs to tighten in front & some road work should help this, shown in fantastic coat & condition, very happy showman who must have a bright future when he matures; 2 Weinberger’s Correnie Hurricane Fly, very much the type I like, super head & expression, very nice outline & moves well, needs to body up. Shown in good coat & condition, not quite the showmanship of 1. With time should make the grade; 3 Confue & Pavlova’s Anjofra Roulette Russe. PGD (6) 1 Anderson’s Birselan Never Say Never at Kerrykeel, stunning headed youngster, up to size but so well put together, lovely neck & shoulders, level topline with good tailset, moved true both ways, forgave his lack of coat as the many positives far outweighed a temporary situation. RCC; 2 Poile’s Keduaiy Hogmanay, another nice dog, put down to perfection, good head & expression, moved well keeping a level topline, could put a bit more into his showing but is of a good type; 3 Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Winsford. LD (6) 1 Drew’s Tycadno Thriller at L’astiste, lovely headed dog of a good size, shown in a good coat of quality, moved well on good legs & feet, alas today he was a little heavy for my liking which spoiled his chances, pity as there is much to like; 2 Innet & Engebretsen’s Carradine Dexter, yet another in fantastic condition, super coat, could never be mistaken for anything other than a male, of a good size, moves fairly well & always on his toes, just not my type of head; 3 Hooton & Hughes’ Gyncairn Magical Mystery. OD (5) 1 Thomas’ Ch Tycadno I Spy, all male with a lovely head & expression, very well balanced, good neck & shoulders, level topline. Good depth & spring of rib, moves soundly on good legs & feet, has a bit of fire in his belly & when sparing tends to shorten his body length but when relaxed looks the part, very pleased to award him the CC, BOB; 2 Shannon, Storr & Kaplan’s Am GrCh Brenndarcy Borgen Re, red. Very well constructed dog, not the biggest but has a nice head & expression, moved very well, lacking coat & not putting all into his showing today; 3 Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Jumbuck. VD (1) 1 Morley’s Keduaiy Locamotion, brindle with a cracking head & expression, full of the joys, in lovely coat & condition, a super natured dog eager to please his handler, liked him a lot. MPB (5) 1 Clarke’s Lentricia Dolly Daydream, lovely headed cream baby, full of personality, nice neck & shoulders. Good front, level topline with tail on top, liked her bone & she moves very well for one so young, she had the edge over the dog pup on showmanship & coat, with luck should progress to better things; 2 Miller’s Cornton Rosemaree, another nice baby, similar in type to 1. Just has to settle in movement & come together, has a nice head & good coat, showed well; 3 Cartel’s Carernwil Picture Purfect. PB (4) 1 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Moonstruck, red, nice headed pup who was shown in good coat & condition, moves very well on good legs & feet, lots to like, very much a baby & needs time; 2 Osborne’s Tweslam Gimmie Gimmie Magic, another red of good type, not quite the head of 1, but well put together & moves with purpose, happy showgirl; 3 Keeves’ Seveek Hopes ‘N’ Dreams. JB (5) A difficult class to judge as the first three are lovely Cairns of different types & at different stages of maturity but would not be surprised if they all made the grade. 1 Day’s Trekhilli Pickled Peppa, up to size but of a lovely type, feminine head & expression, appealing overall outline when moving around the ring on a loose lead. Nice head & expression & was shown in good coat & condition, moving a little close behind today, but a lovely youngster; 2 Thomas’ Tycadno Miss Money Penny, another I liked a lot, lovely head & expression, moved better behind than 1. But a little slacker in front, covers the ground well, lovely mischievous nature. Shown in decent coat, very promising; 3 Innett, Harrison & Clayton’s Carradine Connies Kirsty. PGB (4) 1 Morley’s Cannwood Here’s Hetty, stunning headed bitch with a super mouth, lovely neck & shoulders, level topline with good tailset, good depth & spring of rib, excellent legs & feet, moves well both ways, is of a size I like & showed with personality, a little more coat & maturity to complete the picture but for me she is real quality. RCC; 2 Dolan’s Glenrood Scheherazade, quality youngster coming together nicely, moved soundly, lovely outline when standing, just needs to body up & mature, nice type; 3 McGrath’s Brenndarcy Cinnamon Girl for Owenreagh. LB (4) Quality class. 1 Hughes & Hooton’s Gyncairns Believe In Magic, lovely bitch of good type, nice head & expression, good neck & shoulders, moved fairly well, feel she just has to body up & mature to complete the picture, beautifully presented in correct length of coat; 2 Smee’s Malmay Sunshine Sally, brindle, loved her head & expression, not a big girl but full of substance, in super coat & condition, just not as positive as 1 in movement but she is a nice type of Cairn; 3 Goud’s Vale Of Atholl’s Bessie McIntyre. OB (9) Quality class. 1 Hewitt’s LittleAcorn Stay In Touch, not the most eyecatching bitch when you look at the class, but on the table she excels. The most beautiful head & varmity expression with a good stop. Super mouth, lovely clean neck & shoulders, nice front, good depth & spring of rib, level topline with good tailset, nice bend of stifle with short well let down hocks, she moves true. I found her balanced & hard to fault although a little more coat would have completed the picture, she was my CC winner; 2 Coates’ Penticharm Starlight, another lovely type of bitch, with so much going for her, so close up to 1 & the RCC winner, just not as positive in hind movement, but will be well worthy of her title which cannot be far away; 3 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Dizzee Rascal.
