CESKY MIDLAND COUNTIES 12 Judge(s): HAROLD GAY Cesky Terriers It isn’t that long ago that it was considered a mark of esteem for a kennel type to be recognised & it was something that every serious breeder aspired to. The Cesky in the UK have done it to the breed; the English Cesky is quite distinctive & the BOB, Janski Celtic Ceska, is an A1 plus outstanding example. The longer backed English Cesky does mean that the Czech type look rather short-it is an optical. Also the coats are developing quite differently. In Czech less is more but here it is the more that seems to be desired & the traditional double clip seems to be falling from favour. The question of whether a breed should be kept absolutely true to the original ideal or adopted & developed is one that has occupied many minds in many breeds over many years. PD 1 Janski Ceskasson Blue Moon, interesting young dog who has all the essentials, well angulated, very shaped head, ears, eyes, mouth & lovely reach of neck. A tendency to stand flat but a decent topline on the move. Really nice mover with reach & drive. Already well up to size. BP & RBD. PGD 1 Grancek Modry Mraz at Placido, nice all round moderate dog who isn’t exaggerated in any way, except for his tail! A little straight in rear but moves & shows with verve, even a change of handler in the challenge didn’t phase him at all. BD; 2 Oneva Elegant, beautiful looking Cesky who was basically unhappy with everything, a shame as there were glimpses of movement, topline, everything. OD 1 Est/Fin Ch Estet Classic Bolivar, a decent animal indeed with good rib shape, shoulder, neck etc. but a little thick all through. Has good front reach but paddles behind. PB 1 Janski Ultra Violet, has all the attributes of her brother but is currently a little long in proportion so had to give way to him for BP. Think she will finish the better Cesky as her femininity will enhance while her brother’s masculinity may be a little too much. PGB 1 Rylandson Zeleny Hora at Placido, lovely bitch, head, neck, topline, type, reach, drive & a handler determined to unbalance her at every verse end; 2 Komidion Madrigal, of good size with lots to recommend & like but just not the type of 1. OB 1 Janski Celtic Ceska, very showy, very glamorous with movement front & back that cannot be denied. Nose to tail says balance & she is. She’s done a lot & won a lot, she deserves it. BOB; 2 Komidion Jacara, if this was a good head, good ear, good reach of neck type of critique she could have them all quite deservedly but exhibitors always (rightly) want to know why a placing happened? She didn’t settle on the move & paddled. RBB. HAROLD GAY |
