FOX SMOOTH JUDGE BATH 15

Smooth Fox Terriers

Thank you for a lovely entry. As always it was a privilege to judge the gentleman of the canine world. Overall the quality was encouraging. Movement continues to improve significantly. On a slightly negative note, some otherwise lovely specimens were spoilt by incorrect ear carriage, ear placement in this breed is so important for its typical expression.

PD

A good class to start the day, with a trio of quality young males present. The first two were more mature than the raw third placing dog.

1 Zetamaz Marcel Marceau avec Llyunamill, b/w male who impressed with his overall balance. Smart dog with a lovely head with exactly the correct amount of chiselling & nice dark eye. Excellent reach of neck into perfect shoulder placement. Clean front. Good bone & feet. Short backed with enough behind tail. Tail on top. Moved well with drive. Won this class on his elegant outline. If I was to be hypercritical I would like more lift in his ears to complete the picture. A nice prospect;

2 Zetamaz Gerard Depardieu, tri dog with lots to like about him. Good head with clean backskull. Nice dark eye & well chiselled foreface. Well off for bone. Well ribbed & short backed. Moved well. Preferred the overall shape of his litter brother;

3 Sidewater Some Buddy.

JD

1 Oaxaca Del Boy with Roxway, t/w. Upstanding male. This dog has a lovely length of head, good eye & he is ideally chiselled, & has a good strong jaw. Overall he presents a very pleasing outline & shape. Good bone & feet. Enough rib, good topline & well coupled. Well muscled up with good hindquarters & well developed second thigh. Plenty behind the tail on this one. Moved well. Did enough to annexe the RCC today in good company. Again to be hypercritical would like slightly more lift in his ears to complete the overall picture;

2 Zetamaz Jules Verne at Chantalle, nice type. Rangier than the first placed dog & just needs a little more time to fill out & tighten up. Well off for bone with good feet. Moved well just needs to settle in front.

PGD

1 Zetamaz Cool Dude, correct shape & size. Pleasing head. Good clean front. Correct length of neck. Strong topline with no signs of slackness. Good backend. Moved OK;

2 Galleyshine Black Emperor, b/w. Longer cast than 1 but many of the same attributes. Would prefer a slightly softer expression;

3 Equifox Perfect Pickle.

LD

1 Migely Llywelyn, t/w. Pleasing length of head. Good neck & shoulders. Moved well, in good hard condition. Just a little too much of him all over for me.

OD

1 Am Ch Absolutely Superstitious, have seen this dog from the ringside on a number of occasions & although upstanding & impressive across the ring I have been rather unsure about him. He handles better than I had imagined he might. Heavily b/w marked dog. He scores in head, which is long lean, & with that keen dark eye. Perfect ear placement complete the picture. His markings betray an adequate length of neck & good shoulder placement. One needs to go over this dog to appreciate his virtues. Well ribbed. Super short backed male with tail on top. Plenty behind the tail. Out moved the other males today. Pleased to award him the CC in this company. To be critical I would prefer a fraction more depth of chest on him & tighter feet to complete the picture. Unlucky to meet the bitch winner in such great form;

2 Zlatan I De La Rosa, another nice b/w. Clean head with good proportions. Good eye & expression. Well off for bone. Longer cast than 1. Moved OK.

PB

Biggest & by far & away the best class of the day & a pleasure to judge. Some really promising bitch puppies here which augers well for the future. The first three were outstanding.

1 Sanamaris Step Lively, all white bitch with black headpiece. Scores initially in her elegant outline. On handling, she has a super headpiece with correct eye, chiselling & ear placement. Has that essential typical varminty expression that I really want in a smooth bitch. Super clean neck into good shoulders. Clean front with good bone & typical catlike feet. Good body with excellent hindquarters. Just needs to drop a little & tighten in topline which should come with maturity. More than happy to award her the RCC today in good company. Will watch her with interest;

2 Tamodan First Verse, I loved this b/w bitch. This one is also a real prospect. Beautiful make & shape, overall very feminine without being weak in any way. This bitch excels in head & expression & easily had one of the best heads of the day. Perfect chiselling, super keen dark eye, strong jaw. Good body & condition. Good bone & feet. Lovely outline. Throughout the class my eyes came back to this youngster. Wished she had used her ears more & settled into the job. If she progresses as she is doing, with maturity this one could make up with fair play;

3 Glendraterra Blind Date.

JB

1 Oaxaca Racquel, pretty t/w bitch who, like her litter brother, is mature for her age. Presents a very pleasing outline, which is quite elegant. Super head & expression. Well ribbed up. Good bone. Moved very well with real reach in front. Put down in A1 order;

2 Zetamaz Paris By Night avec llyunamill, t/w. Nicely headed bitch. Overall nice shape. Just preferred ear placement on 1;

3 Zetamaz She’s Snow Angel at Chantalle.

PGB

1 Tamedale Finesse, t/w. Interesting bitch. Real punishing head with super length, clearly feminine but with good strong muzzle. Nice eye. Clean neck into good shoulders. Well ribbed up. Good bone & correct feet. Plenty behind tail. Moved with real drive from behind. Reminded me a little of Ch Stockinette of Sufredon who I admired. Just needs to tighten overall & use her ears to more advantage. Was in consideration for higher honours today;

2 Zetamaz Winters Tail, another handy bitch. Clean lines, good bone & feet. Front action wasn’t as positive as first placed bitch. LB 1 Tamedale Ballerina, b/w. Quality bitch. Lean head with keen expression. Clean neck into good shoulders. Clean front. Well ribbed up. Good bone & feet. Excellent moving bitch;

2 Sanamaris So What, another quality b/w. Clean outline. Pretty head & ears. Preferred overall outline of 1;

3 Nisyros Climate Control at Tamodan.

OB

1 Ch Glendraterra Suzi Kew, I have admired this b/w bitch from the ringside & was pleased to be able get my hands on her today. The first thing to say is that on first & subsequent looks she is perfectly balanced with the most elegant of silhouettes. She has a really stunning headpiece, long & lean & which is in no way either coarse or weak. My notes on here simply say ‘This is a SFT head!’ This bitch has lovely dark eye, correct amount of foreface chiselling & that desired varminty expression. Excellent ear carriage completes the picture. Perfect length of neck, very elegant without weakness, into well placed shoulders. Clean straight front, ample bone for a bitch & desired catlike feet. Well ribbed up. Short backed with enough behind the tail. Good hind angulation & correct turn of stifle. In good hard condition & put down well. Moved well with good forward reach. I really loved this bitch & I think she ranks among one of the best I have seen here or abroad for a few years. There was no hesitation in awarding her the CC & BOB. An easy winner for me. Put up a good performance too be shortlisted in a strong group;

2 Forgevale Simply A Dream, t/w bitch of quality. Good make & shape. Lovely head & ears. Nice size. Preferred the overall balance of 1. Moved well coming & going;

3 Zandra de-la-Rosa at Yoxella.
