FOX SMOOTH JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 18

A special day when you award your first set of CCs after 20 yrs of Open shows and breed education. I passed the Birmingham Fox Terrier CLub judging assessment in 2010 and obtained a JDP Credit in 2012 that discounted the 'hands on' needed to a minimum of 25. I had 54. Sceptics rubbish the likes of me as having been 'fast tracked', so I thought I would share the reality! Thirty-two of the original 38 exhibits were present.

MPD (2, 1)

1 Albert's Zetamaz Hot Off The Press At Dalfson. 7 mths, very raw, lean head without undue cheekiness, some chiselled foreface, good proportions in both head and body, clean moving front and back, good set on, hard jacket, slack in backline that maturity should sort.

PD (1)

1 Brookes' Zetamaz Carbon Copy. 7 mth litter brother to MPD, much more 'finished', so classy, quality headpiece, small, wicked eye, excellent neck, true front, well angulated fore and aft, firm bone, cat feet, short and level, has type, balance and style in small compass so as to be title bound. BPIB.

LD (5)

1 Anderson & Watt's Nisyros Stormbound At Humeston. Rising 3 yrs, quality exhibit being short and deep, full enough in cheek, small, dark eye, neat ear, chiselled foreface, hard, dense jacket, well angulated stifle, gave drive, less clean coming on, slight rise in backline but has so much quality, he should be titled.

2 Julian's Lanyons Smash And Grab. 21 mth tan/w, refined in head, excellent eye, clean front, good neck, excellent angles, correct rib, keeps his shape on the move, just a little longer cast but another of CC quality.

3 Dams' Tamedale Caruso.

OD (5, 1)

1 Smith & Gabel's Am Ch Absolutely Signature. 5 yrs, according to the catalogue, albeit a tad 'on the leg', he exemplifies a well made, short backed hunter covering a lot of ground, has balance and quality in head, excellent eye and ear, good neck and shoulder, short and level, has 'ass' behind his well set tail, excellent jacket, fabulous mover in all directions, has stylish attitude that giaves him the edge. DCC and BOB.

2 Thornton, Booth, Malzoni, Bebbington & Corish's Am Gr Ch J'cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man (Imp). 6 yrs according to the catalogue, superb type, so short and deep, excellent head and eye, good neck and shoulder, excellent tail set, good turn of stifle that showed on the move, preferred his overall balance but less clever in front and stood 'toeing in'. Res DCC.

3 Brookes' Zetamaz Gerard Depardieu JW ShCM.

VD (3, 1)

1 Goodley's Roxway Euonymus. 7 yrs tan/w, full of breed type and nothing worth quibbling about, good headpiece, correct angles, good bone and feet, level, moves cleanly front and back, nothing has become cloddy or coarse, fit and muscled. BVIB.

2 Osborne's Forgevale Sun King. 8 yrs, another to be proud of, fabulous eye and ears, very well made all through, less fine in head or quite as clean when moving, a little longer cast.

MPB (2)

1 Kettle's Foxindean Prettiest Star. 6 mths, coming together nicely, clean cheeks, good eye, good neckline, good angles front and back, short, level and deep, moved out true and balanced. BPB.

2 Anderson & Watt's Nisyros Diamonds And Rust. 6 mths, tan/w, also showed promise, excellent head proportions, good eye, clean front, good shoulder, equally level, short and deep, good turn of stifle, less hard coated and less concentrated that the maturing process will address.

PB (1)

1 Brookes' Zetamaz Covergirl. 7 mths, litter sister to MPD and PD, ears need to settle and rather too fine in muzzle, notwithstanding her sex, short, smart, level, good jacket, moved soundly and with activity, will surely develop on to advantage.

JB (6)

Good class to make me think!

1 Hughes & Butcher's Forgevale Quintessence. 15 mths, really classy, correctly narrowing, clean cheeked head yet with strength through her muzzle, excellent eye, good neck and shoulder, deep and level, good backside and stifle, so moved out well in addition to soundly, surely title bound.

2 Hannar's Borovale Georgia. 16 mths, another truly excellent head and eye, neck widening into well laid shoulder, firm backline, albeit with slight rise to rear, good turn of stifle to move straight and maintain her squared off outline, also destined to reach the top.

3 Ketley & Gash's Enjakay Secret Love.

PGB (3, 1)

1 Grant & Hemmings' Lorecon White With Fright From Yoxella. 2 yrs, white with ticking, flat skull, good eye and ear, correct skull to muzzle proportions, clean neck, good shoulder, well angulated rear, moved so well in front, a little long and soft in backline.

2 Jacques' Lady Daisy Of Jacqspot. 23 mths, white, lovely eye set in a clean cheeked head, good overall structure set off by excellent neckline, longer cast again and less clean in front.

LB (6, 1)

Truly competitivewith future Chs jostling it out.

1 Julian's Lanyons Crime Of Passion. 21 mths, litter sister to second in LD. What is there not to like? Tan/w, so unexaggerated well made as to cover the ground stood and with ease on the move, clean lines in head and body, flat skull tapers to dark eye, neat ear, chiselled foreface, good neck and shoulders, level and deep, not oversprung, bang on tail set, so secure on the out and back as not to be denied. BCC, her first.

2 Rundle's Saredon American Girl. Rising 4 yrs, according to catalogue yet sired by the BOB so I am more inclined to run with the two and a half yrs stated, another class act built on lovely bodylines, so many breed specifics all present and correct, quality head and eye, good neck and shoulder, level, deep, excellent jacket, well angulated rear, quick and pretty parallel mover to maintain her challenge.

3 Hughes & Butcher's Belfox Paris (Imp).

OB (3)

1 Thornton & Bebbington's Glendraterra Dezina Label. Just 2 yrs, cracking b being ultra short, quality headpiece that was sufficiently clean with good eye and ear, good neck and shoulder, deep, level, has a rump behind her well set tail, excellent jacket, a little less accurate in front than behind that told in the challenge. Obviously of Ch quality as marked by the Res BCC.

2 Griffiths' Ch Yoxella Wish List. Rising 3 yrs, loved her, ultra feminine, a truly short backed hunter covering the ground, beautiful head and eye, chiselled foreface to avoid a wedge, good neck and shoulder, excellent turn of stifle, body short and deep, keen and alert both stood and on the move but stood toeing in, of obvious Ch quality.

3 Davies' Ch L'magali Du Manior Saint Adrien Of Mosvalley (Imp).
